Well sounds like all the goodwill Gearbox got from me due to Borderlands has in 1 game been ripped to shreds. (sigh)
Well if Gearbox does make another Duke Nukem game hopefully they go back to the good ole days of Duke Nukem 3D in gameplay. If they do then I'll write off DNF as having most of its horrid ripping out of gameplay be the fault of 3D Realms and whoever else worked on it. Until that time however Gearbox will have to shoulder some of the disappointment of mine from this horrid attempt @ a Duke Nukem sequel.

Even if you colour your post red it does not make your opinion more important or diverse. If anything, it shows that you believe people have to take notice and care about you. Well done, your intrusiveness has made me care enough to point it out.

It just comes down to not knowing about the X-Men. Hell I always just call him Iceman and they never bat an eyelid. They're "older" parents and know nothing of comics whatsoever beyond 'Superman uses phone boxes to change' so it's an innocent mistake. Albeit an awesome once.

You'd be wrong on that last count. Bit iffy on the hero part as she changed sides a few times, but here you go: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angel_Salvadore. Sure, not the best example (eats food like a fly and had a relationship with Beak... eww), but that's the only one I know of. My knowledge of comics does have gaps, however.

Look, at least you share code name with Warren Worthington III. Don't see why it matters if it's 'real' (we are talking about fictional characters, after all) name or not. Oh yeah, I forgot about Warren... to be honest, I don't have much exposure to the comics. My main knowledge of the X-Men comes from the film series really, which either is acceptable or a crime against human knowledge, depending on how much of a comic fanboy you are.

Still, at least I can now sound like a raging comic nerd when I start calling me and Bobby "Angel and Iceman". Hoorah for being nerdy!

I do quite enjoy Duke Nukem as a character, so maybe it will be okay for me. The 2 weapons thing really does bother me, but the loading screens in the demo are the same as in the full game? D:
Well, at least I have Duke3D on my Ipod Touch so I can play that while I wait for it to load. Then I can compare the good old Duke Nukem game to the new one... if the controls for the ipod touch don't drive me insane.
I would usually say "At least it has a sense of humor, something rare in FPSes these days.", but really, around Bulletstorm and other "fun" FPSes, it's not as rare.

The Jimquisition was right. In this day and age, everyone just views Duke as a stuck up wanker (and he really is).
The whole comment about being too cool to be cool is so true.
The aesthetics and style that stood up fourteen years ago just doesn't cut it in today's world of fantastic storytelling and clean-cut polished 1080p graphics.

People have already been telling publishers that they're willing to pay for nostalgia, look at Nintendo. As far as quality games go, what is considered quality varies from person to person. In my opinion people who buy CoD are telling Activision that people want the same rehashed shooter with minor changes every year for full price. The industry will always have crap, and people will usually buy it. There's no avoiding it really.

That's my take on it at least.

What I think they did is make two versions of the game: a good one (Health packs, Duke can carry a armory) and a bad one (regen health, two weapon limit), and give the bad ones the Australians first. They then leaked their own game to the torrent sites (the ?bad? version), so people write it off.

Then, when the American release comes out, it will be such a shocker that it will generate so much buzz that it will make tons of money. Then shortly thereafter, they patch the game for all the people with the "bad" version.

Think about it: this is just the sort of thing Gearbox would do

Anyways, I doubt I will be getting this game. It started development when I was four, and I never really liked Duke. Something about him just annoyed me.

This comes to no surprise. Ever since i heard they were ACTUALLY going to make one, I knew it wasn't going to exceed expectations.

However, do note that most expectations basically reach the moon and have cracked its inner core (or whatever the moon has inside).

If the game was made maybe 4-6 years ago, an average game would have been tolerable. The fans would say, "Ok, it's not bad, but they can improve" and if they were given even 4-6 years to make another game, they could fix the flaws this one would have.

Unfortunately, what I'm going to see is the companies that made it (Sorry, i don't study this) going under, and we'll never see a true Duke Nukem EVER again. Like the Sonic franchise, it will live on... but only as a mask for mediocre games so they can produce more revenue.

Of course, if the World goes loopy and awesomely good for everyone, and money is no longer an issue and we can eat all the Nutella we want without getting fat, then a faithful Duke Nukem will be released.

I personally love the way Zhukov put it. I was almost fooled to think it actually was Yahtzee.

Don't you see? This game is a work of genius! DNF has been a running joke so long that it's an important part of gamer culture. The only way to keep that joke going while still releasing it is to make it as GOD AWFUL as possible to ensure the joke keeps going. Now we can have our joke and they can have their buckets of preorder money!

Now if you'll excuse me I need to go play some Borderlands to remember how great Gearbox is before my mind realizes how feeble that excuse is.

Same. It's a Duke Nukem game, I rather suspect I'll like it. None of the complaints I've heard sound all that bad to me, for the king.

I mean, maybe the vehicle control thing, but I've enjoyed games with those other features. I'm not upset just because it's not a carbon copy of DN3D.
