While I get the joke and all.... it's really poorly timed, and pretty poorly delivered.

It doesn't have the refinement or credibility to be seen as a satire of the "chauvinistic ideal." It reads instead as fan service pumped directly into the occipital lobe of the target audience (immature man-children). And that means a game that is outdated, which for DNF comes as no surprise...

The other day I was at a video store, a man told his son of about 10 that he could watch anything without sexual jokes or nudity in it. They put back 50 First Dates and protected the kid's innocence by renting The Exorcist.

OT: I am not surprised by this, and I doubt anyone else is. Always bet on Duke.

But seriously, I really dont understand the mentality for Nudity over violence nor the media's attention over it.

The only way to make it better is call the home base "kitchen".

If the home base was a kitchen the developers could change the gameplay to make it less offensive to the female gamers (if there are any that play duke). Instead of slapping her, yell at the chick to make you a sandwich. Or get you a beer. Either one.

Not really, think about action and comedy movies when somebody (usually a friend, recently rescued or otherwise traumatized) starts freaking out and the protagonist/tough supporting character/whatever has to slap them back to sanity. I'm sure there's a TV Trope about this somewhere...

Potentially awful? absolutely. But that's what I think about when I read: "more goofy than offensive". You're saving her, not kidnapping her... it just so happens you kidnapped the other team's girl first. heh.
