Who cares what she does for a living, she doesn't hurt anyone. That was a dick move.. err, no pun intended.

And I've said much the same as she at the end there, it's interesting where society draws it's line of morality. It's just absurd.

I wonder if they scrutinized every single attendee's work profession to make sure they were all of their oh so high moral quality.

"Oh no, we might get bad publicity at home if we let this porn star attend our event!"

Except that were it not for the uninvitation, no-one outside the Netherlands would even have known she was invited in the first place. I sometimes wonder if Activision actually has a PR department, or just an aquarium full of manatees.
That´s exactly what I thought. It´s a game release party in a small European country. I think the New York Times just might not be to investigative when it comes to the VIPs in attendance.

Furthermore, while I don´t want to stereotype an entire people, I have been to Amsterdam a couple of times.... I think the uproar over a porn-star showing up might not have been quite as big as Activision seems to believe.
They are a rather open-minded bunch over there.
And stoned.
But mostly open-minded.

So they uninvited someone who actually likes their game, is famous and has tits because she takes them out in films?

I have to say I'm surprised that Activision did this, I would have thought they would have keep her and invited a few of her friends so they can get the sex appeal stuff going even further.

Oh well.

Wait. "The American publisher of Modern Warfare 3 has indicated that they prefer no representatives of the adult entertainment industry at the party,"? He probably hadn't thought that one through, but isn't it a bit rude to come out and say that CoD is aimed at kids? D:

I think Activision are worried that an association with porn might stop parents from buying the game for their potential market...

Bad on Activision's part.

Though this confirms several things to me.

1. Activision's PR department is run by sea monkeys
2. Call of Duty is really for kids (don't associate it with "adult" entertainment)
3. Activision has no balls, thus it was pointless to invite a porn star to their party in the first place

I don't know how a dutch porn star got invited in first place but Activision should show some acceptance that gamers come with all shapes and sizes.

That plus uninviting someone is just a dick move.

She's too classy for Activision anyway.
Dumbest mistake here is that if Bobby had not uninvited her, nobody would have heared about it, let alone cared.

Oh noes a porn star wasn't let into EA's little party? It's the end of the world!

I mean seriously, it is Activision we are talking about here and also porn =/= violence. Two separate genres. Violent games are entertaining (for many) but isn't real violence. Porn star = real porn and sex, not fake stuff. Also, I'm pretty sure EA wouldn't want to invite serial killers to their events, even though it is more relevant than porn stars.

I rather like her little quote at the end there. But, really, Activision, you're just showing how infantile you are. You make an M-rated game, there should be no problem with am "M-rated" actress being there.

But, then again, this is the same company that backs an MMO that's about to have kung-fu pandas, it's no wonder they don't want put any adult vibes out when their big money maker is a game for babies.
I like how you talk about maturity, yet completely fail to apply the concept to your own perception.

And wait... I played wow from vanilla to cata and now you're telling me there was maturity in that game? the kids have long taken over, and you're obviously one of them with the way you're quick to judge and condemn (why even care?)

That aside, Activision is shooting themselves in the foot here, discriminating against a certain (legal, in Holland anyway) profession isn't going to do their publicity any favour (though that won't stop the kids from buying their games)

Kotick probably noticed her name on the list and ordered her removed from the party, he wants to be the biggest cocksucker there. =P

What I see this saying is "We made an M-rated game, but we still want to market it to preteens, since they're a massive part of our customer base, so we can't have anything their moms might find objectionable involved with the publicity". Real class act, there, Activision. And they wonder why so many people can't stand them.

Yep, I knew keeping this would come in handy. To anyone from any country that's not America that wants to act like this kind of prude behavior is only exhibited by Americans:

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/113743-Duke-Nukem-Forever-Ad-Banned-in-the-U-K

Kindly remember that it's not only Americans, and keep your bigotry and ignorance to yourselves for once. ;)
Wasn't banned, it was put after 11, you know, when people who aren't legally allowed to buy it are all asleep. Call it prudish, but it was an entirely logical call, this one wasn't.

Christ, I ain't even patriotic but your arrogance pissed me off there.
It's even more annoying when people say something that's wrong and then add ":)" or "=)" to the end. Erg..

OT: It was an incredibly stupid move
