E3: Nintendo's New Console Is: The Wii U

I was hoping to use a DS or 3DS as a controller.
I was seriously impressed with the fact that they're now at the place the others were 5 years ago. I'm serious, I'm impressed. That says a bit too much about Nintendo, but oh well.
They have 3rd pary support and serious online, who cares that it's, like, the stupidest name evar?
I am worried about the grip though, it looks really uncomfortable to hold.

If I remember, there were versions of DSs that were going to have built in phones. And now they have some in-house touch screen technology...

To be "different" i know some other brand that is "different" it is called Apple. Sure they are success at a price. While nintendo has the gain that it was relative cheaper this generation.. will this Wii U be expensive? Will it be to limited? Will it require special Wii Wireless Adapters to work with Wireless? .. something like that?

Not impressed in the slightest. I like my games to be, ya know, games? I could really care less about how sleek their new console is. It brings nothing really new or meaningful to the table that isn't already done by something else. Video calls? It's called Skype. Touch screen gimmicks? It's called an Ipad. Lame motion control minigames? It's called the Wii.

Stupid system, and I hope Microsoft doesn't feel the need to jump on the "we need a new console" bandwagon.

What shred of hope I had left for this console not being an unholy amalgamation of everything I have grown to hate about the Nintendo brand is now gone. Like the Wii I will not buy this....ever, I don't care what game comes out for it.

My god Nintendo, wtf happened to you? Just make a normal freaking console for once.

They tried that. Twice. N64 did ok, but still lagged behind Playstation. Gamecube got slaughtered by the PS2 and got edged out by the XBox. The -original- XBox.

One can only bash their head against a wall so many times before figuring out that it hurts. Why try to cater to an audience that ignores you when you can go after others?

And all nintendo has done is introduce concepts which the xbox 360 and ps3 have had for half a decade, they haven't "outdone", they've caught-up. very late.
people should stop treating nintendo as the paralympics of gaming, nintendo has the potential to seriously rival consoles in its generation, not just former generations, its a near-certainty that when the ps4 or xbox 2 (3?)come out, they would overshadow nintendo's product.

Really. What in the fuck did I have to play on my Wii after Brawl? No More Heroes 2 aaaand...that was it. In the long term, my Wii has proven to be completely useless.

I have no confidence in Nintendo or their products insofar as to provide me with entertainment.
Though it's always amusing to see which direction Nintendo is taking their business, for yucks if nothing else.

The name strangly did not bother me, their controler will be interesting it will all come down to cost, controllers cost a fair chunk as it is, Ill just see how this plays out when it launches, but Ill probably buy it but that means Ill also have to buy a HDTV...............sigh this is getting expensive

also the graphical update and controler with compareable button layout to the ps3 and xobx360 means cross platform titles will no longer just mean 360 and ps3 the next Modern warfare will probly be the same on the WiiU at least untill 2015 when soney and Microsoft realease their new consols

My thoughts exactly. The system itself (And game line-up) looks spiffy, but I really hope they change the name. The Wii may have sounded silly, but WiiU is just awkward to say.

Cheer up, the Wii was originally called the "Nintendo Revolution" but Nintendo changed it, Hopefully it'll be the case for this.

So instead of coming out with an actual "new console" they come out with what is more appropriately described as a peripheral meant to compete with Microsoft and Sony's system upgrades. It makes a lot more sense than what I was thinking would happen. Nintendo gets to release new hardware without exposing themselves to being severely outclassed by their rivals next console. It's good to know that I don't have get this thing to play Skyward Sword, as I would have skipped out on it otherwise. Guess I'll have to wait a little longer for the death of Nintendo by their own incompetence, oh well.

Edit: Wait, I know that this new controller has HD graphics, but does this mean that the Wii itself still puts shitty graphics on my TV?
