"Buy it plebs, or else we won't make another one to fix all the stuff you want!"
EA demonstrating once again why they are so respected by fans.

Eh, there's Second Life. Minecraft with mods also can probably come pretty close.Scars Unseen said:Here's a thought: There's obviously a pretty big market for life sims considering The Sims success as a franchise. That isn't likely to go away just because EA decides to takes its toys and go home. So let's say that no more Sims games get made. Sounds like a good opportunity for another developer to me.
I always wondered why The Sims had no real competition anyway...
Man, you just reminded me how shitty Capcom has been. The Breath of Fire series has basically been dead for years after the spiritual sequel, Dragon Quarter. A game, which wasn't bad, but wasn't a Breath of Fire game, either. But there is hope! Breath of Fire VI! A online multiplayer tablet based game.Gearhead mk2 said:If any Sims fans want to join me in the corner to weep for dead franchises, I've got a bottle of Serrice Ice Brandy. I was just pouring one out for Dead Space, I'll see if I can get you a glass.
OT: I really hate it when one bad entry in a franchise cans the whole thing. Hell, it doesn't even have to be bad, it just has to not sell well. Happened to Dead Space, happened to Banjo Kazooie, it came this close to happening to Metroid and Korra, it might have happened to Beyond Good and Evil and Megaman. Granted there are times when a franchise has carried on past the point it should have stopped, coughHaloGlasslandsResidentEvil6ManOfSteelcough, but seeing all that potential ignored and effort wasted because of one failure is just deppresing to me. I never played the Sims, but I can sympathise with seeing a beloved series die because of poor management.
I read it differently. To me it wasn't the same as Frank Gibeau the executive saying "5 mil or gtfo." This is the developer saying "We have to make this good so that you'll buy it. Otherwise they won't ask us to make another one."Phil the Nervous said:EA guilting the fans to get them to buy a watered-down version of their beloved franchise?
What a surprise.
That's the way I took it.Evil Moo said:Is this EA's way of saying they are actually going to be listening to their playerbase?
Wait you lost me.If the game that is designed to milk customers with a million small content DLCs doesn't sell well, they'll stop the series because they can't figure out how do it differently. Thanks for looking out for the customers EA! Great job.
And let us not forget what might have been a system seller for the 3DS early on: Megaman Legends 3. Capcom straight up trolled us with that one. First they held it hostage, and then decided they just flat out didn't care.Saltyk said:I wonder what their definition of success is. 2 million copies sold? 5 million copies sold? 20 million copies sold? Kinda shitty to hold the series hostage like that, but at the same time, if the game doesn't do well, there really isn't a reason to keep making it. And The Sims is probably a game which we can afford to lose at this point. Especially seeing as EA loves to milk it with expansions.

Oh God, what have they done to you Ryu? You were the Warrior of the Dragon Clan of Light. The Destined child. The Dragon Prince and last of the Brood. Even a God.
Man, if Dragon Quarter didn't kill the franchise this one probably will.
Oh, I know. Man, I would have loved a new Megaman Legends game. Would have preferred it on the PS3, though.Scars Unseen said:And let us not forget what might have been a system seller for the 3DS early on: Megaman Legends 3. Capcom
proving that EA isn't the only shitty company in gaming
