Despicable Me left me horrible depressed for how lacking in originality or thought it was.
Also brain damage.

The ending to "The Mist" (film, not story). It was the most stupidly depressing ending to a film that I have ever seen.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with this... Especially when you realize that the show is a comedy.

Otherwise, Red Dead Redemption. I still get a little choked up when I listen to the soundtrack, specifically Deadman's Gun by Ashtar Command.

If we're talking movies, I'd have to say Deer Hunter; probably the most sobering ending I had ever seen.

If we're talking games, Red Dead Redemption.

I did fell a bit sad in the Persona 4 ending.

Why do the main charater goes away for characters that don't even show up? I know that are his parents, but it would make less sad if he seen them in the game.

I actually cried in the Green Mile end and get depressed for a day or two.

John Coffey even if we was innocent, dies as a martyr.
Damn depressing movie.

Death Note
Near is killed by Light. only to have L, who is now a shinigami, use his death note and murder Light in an extremely painful way (bursts into flames)
By sad, I think you mean completely awesome in its poetic justice

Cowboy Bebop. I've seen that ending many times and I always cry as the ending theme begins to play.

And besides, I guess that even a half retard brain damaged person could tell that Light deserved that... I actually felt kinda happy when he died.

Was that in the manga? I've only watched the anime, where the ending is quite a bit different...

Anyway, here's the most depressing, yet satisfying endings I know:

This, just when George says 'Sir, I'm scared' the larger than life excitable funnyman just became so very small and afraid with three words. Says it all really
