I just saw this movie. IT WAS SOOOO GOOD!
I was kinda sad when I noticed that the theater I was in was mostly empty though.

This is the first Nolan movie where the "Emotional coldness" feels like a bit of a problem to me. It's like everybody's subconsious is a hospital, cold and sterile.

Ummmmmmmmmm...
Yup, definitely the most amazing film of the year... I think I agree with the "Most Amazing Nolan Film" assessment... certainly better than the Batman Movies, and the budget made it top Memento... And the scene he was talking about, which I KNOW it was the one he was talking about... wow... just wow. It's the kind of thing sci-fi action films should aspire to, and this one pulled it off amazingly.

I have to go see it againnnnnnn...

I fear I must contradict you sir chipman. I liked the acting and visuals, but not the script or story it was telling. The third act didn't have proper pacing and it went on for too long, and I guess I am just not manly/mature enough to appreciate Mr.Nolen's attitude towards emotion. So for me it was like a solid gold Ulysses Grant statue "Wow that's some grate trade-craft... why did you make that out of it?"

i saw the movie and understood it perfictly... am i super smart or just insane?
for me it struck a great balance of requiring actual thought, and being accessible.

rare is the movie that can do that. for me it's always either too stupid or way too smart.

I find that most of the Christopher Nolan's films usually out do his previous films, I say "usually" on the off chance that any whom read this disagree, and the first time I saw the movie it really wasn't all that hard to follow and the cliffhanger-ish ending was nice and made me think if it was a dream or not. As far as trying to help other people whom critics consider the "average movie goers" that I know wouldn't follow it. I thought it was would be great to think as the dreams within the dreams as a building with the last dream being the lobby and the real dream being maybe the floor before the roof and the "reality" being said roof. And since buildings were heavily used in this movie, elevator, helicopter pad, bathtubes, etc. it helped them greatly. But that's a bit offtopic. Inception, the one movie I see of the year and I got to admit. Great choice. If you haven't go see it...NOW!

I saw Dreamscape on netflix and although I can see the similarities in the end Inception is the better movie.

i didn't like it really.
The only interesting and good character was the guy they that was their target and all the others were bland and forgetable. I knew what was going on but everything felt extremely forced and overdramatic mainly on the ending. Major plot holes didn't help either and....even thought the movie looked great it didn't make me give a shit about what was happening really. The main reason being that NOTHING is ever explained directly. That's usually not a problem when the plot doesn't have any holes and the movie has small breaks to make you think but when the gunfight starts it never ends and by the time you start trying to figure out what is going on BAM they go to another level.

I have to say this was built up to be a very complex movie you have to watch several times over to get etc etc.

It really wasn't for me. It's pretty straightforward. The whole "omg he's still dreaming" bit at the end was just w/e. Big deal, it still doesn't add any complexity to the whole scenario.

I have to wonder though about this idea nonsense - from what I had heard before I saw the movie I'd imagined that it would be about ideas more than dreams. Not so.

Still a great watch.

Exactly. It's not that deep and it's not overly complicated. Since i read Philip Dick i am also familiar with concept of "reality being an illusion" and vice versa. Nothing new really. At the end i found myself bored from seeing lots of unnecessary shooting and unnecessary clichéd mushy emotional dialog.

Just incase you've not ever heard of it, or seen it - Go watch "Primer". Don't learn anything about it. Nothing. Just find it, and watch it.

Get back to me when you're done =)

The "hair pulling" moment for me was trying to figure out how they did the mirror scene (after the folding city scene). Where's the camera?!

I just finished watching Inception again on blu ray. Can someone explain what the big glaring plothole that will have you pulling out your hair is that Bob referenced?
I've picked out a couple really minor plotholes, but I had to be pretty picky for those. I have yet to come up with any big ones.

BTW, here it is December, and Inception is still the best film of 2010 as far as I'm concerned.

I love how people say its so deep, yeah it was a good movie, but I got it the first time I watched it, it wasn't complicated, wasn't confusing, just a good movie.
