My friend told me that people turn into werewolves, which sounded cool so I watched (I thought there would be a fight under the full moon between a vampire team and a werewolf team). Apparently they flash-transform into gigantic wolves like in harry potter at will.

I was disappointed.

To be honest I wouldn't have that much hate for Twilight if I could just be allowed to ignore it like I want to. Instead, it seems that if you know any female at all right now you're going to hear about this horrible book series and the movies based off of them. So like MovieBob I studied my enemy and found it to be one of the worst decisions I made recently. I would have rather hated on this series blindly than actually reading it had I known just what lay ahead. MovieBob did a good job reviewing it for what it is though and for that I thank him.
Pretty much a better said version of what I think.

Thank you!! MovieBob thank you! see people a professional doesn't think it's any good, a professional!!! That mean sthat it isn't good!!!
Oh wow, someone's opinion is that the series sucks. So, because his opinion, excuse me, professional opinion is that it is bad means that I shouldn't like it? Is that it? I'm sorry that I am not of the same opinion as that of many other people this world over who think that sappy, cliche'd romance novels and movies are bad and therefore shouldn't be read/watched.

You know what? I like "Twilight", I loved "I Love You, Beth Cooper", I adored "The Lake House", and I still get giddy whenever there is a love story in a game/book/movie/song. I'm a sucker for romance, I love cliche'd, overused, too-good-to-be-true romance, and I'm not afraid to admit it.

I understand that these things that I enjoy are bad. Sometimes, they are downright awful. Twilight was terribly written and is a horrid movie, but I still like it. I enjoy these atrocious books and movies because they cater to my interests. I could give two shits whether it was well done or not. If the story intrigues me, you bet your ass I'll be reading/watching it.

People like you who think that just because some guy who reviews for a living says something is bad, it is need to step back and realize that your opinion doesn't need to mimic that of everyone else. Sure, I know that it's cool to hate, so what. The people who hate "Twifags" are just as bad as those fans who cut themselves and ask Robert Pattinson to suck their blood.
Nobody said you shouldn't like it because of his review, don't get pissed just because every sensible person on gods green earth hates Twilight and you don't. It's not about jumping on the bandwagon, its about speaking the truth.

the reason you REALLY shouldn't like it is because it sucks, period.

No, no let them like it. Maybe one day they can make it better and have sparkly manticores or something gay like that in the next big book series.

Who is to say that it "sucks, period"?

That is your opinion.

I do agree with you. It was terribly written and horribly moved to the silver-screen where the acting was atrocious and ruined whatever the book actually had going for it.

However, I still enjoyed the books. I loved reading them and hadn't finished a set of four books that fast since the last time I read through the Harry Potter books.

don't get pissed just because every sensible person on gods green earth hates Twilight and you don't.
So I'm not sensible because I happen to enjoy something others hate? Sounds like you are insulting me for the sake of insult. It isn't necessary to attempt to insult my intelligence because I don't see eye to eye with you. Though, that is human nature, so I forgive you.

It's not about jumping on the bandwagon, its about speaking the truth.
I'm speaking the truth, I like Twilight, yet I believe that it is tripe. Enough truth for you?

You say it is not about jumping on the bandwagon, yet you, along with a whole bunch of others, have done just that. It may not be the same wagon as many fourteen-year-old girls, but it is still a bandwagon.

And finally,
In the words of my mother:
"Have you read these books? You have nothing to say on the matter until you have read all four."

First sensible thing I've seen from someone attempting to insult me, ever.

Why can't people like Twilight? Why can't people like Halo? If you don't like it, stay away. Can't get away? Ignore it. It really is not that hard to do.

I made the mistake of seeing the first movie. I couldn't watch everything because it was so MOTHER FUCKING CHEESY! I mean the scene when the "vampires" line up? I wanted to bore the images out of my head. IT WAS DISGUSTING! My hate for that movie, the author, actors, director, the assholes who financed it, the fans and everyone who was remotely involved is grand and true. NOW THEY GET TO DO MORE MOVIES? Who thought this was a good idea?

Everyone who was involved in making this and/or liked this must be taken out of the gene pool for the good of the human race. Otherwise there is a chance they contaminate the world.

I FUCKING HATE YOUNG GIRLS! Not because that they are young girls but the stupidity and lack of common sense. Teenagers... Well I'm not blaming all teenage girls, just the (apparent) wast majority.

I'm sorry (I truly am) I just really really hate these kind of crimes against art and culture... and any thing aesthetic. This whole thing is a grand personal insult.

PS
Thank you Bob. You haven't failed me yet though the first movie made sure I won't go near anything like this again.

No, you never said I can't have my opinion. I'm sorry, most of that post was directed, not at you, but more at the rest of the thread. However, if a professional says something is bad, and I think it is good, why should I change my opinion? If it is good in my eyes, who cares what others think.

There, now you have the reasoning behind every fanboy in existence.
Well I appreciate the clarification. Your right, fans will always think it's good. However I just wish people would stop defending it's writing that (and sparking vampires) is my only real problem with this series. I love me some romantic stuff in games/movies/books/tv shows, so long as it's well written.
Honestly I see how Twilight could be very good, if only a competent writer had gotten the idea before Meyer. The characters are so shallow I could stand in a puddle of them and not get my feet wet. They are so flat they could turn side ways and disappear... you get my drift. Perhaps I've just been pampered by the classics (Sherlock Homes, Frankenstein, Pride and Prejudice, Dracula) But I honestly can't fathom how anyone could read Twilight and say "yep this is great writing" And that is the sole reason (and sparkling vampires) for my hatred of Twilight.

Hey at least you see that the books and movies are crap, and you like that kind of thing, that's OK. I used to like Naruto until I took a step back and saw it for the whiny loud-mouthed orange jumpsuit wearing ninja that it was and promptly stopped watching it. Maybe you will do the same with the Twilight series.

Sad to say, I won't. Its the story that got me, not the shallow, one-dimensional characters.

I have officially a new hate for this series. I've respected Moviebob's insight on reviews for a while. Hell, because of his review of Up, I watched it via Netflix. Best movie I've seen this year. But Twili- *gags!* I can't stand it. Especially because it jacked me out of help. I literally got a flat outside a friend's house, had no spare, but knew my friend did. I call him up for help... his mother picks up and tells me he went to see the midnight premiere of New Moon! Just for that, I want him to take his "Man" card out of his wallet and pass it forward. Bad writing, bad direction, bad acting, vampires don't sparkle, and I want the series to burn in hell forever!!!!!

New Moon sucks. Im suprised so many older teens and college girls go for this stuff.
I do and I'm a nineteen year old guy.
That is just terrible. I have said it once and I will say it again, Twilight is for gay guys(nothing against them, I have gay friends and family) and girls/woman. It is a ultra sappy love story with the intellectual level of a brainless 13 year old female with Vampires thrown in to look cool.

It's depressing to know that this stuff will continue to be sold for generations to come whilst stuff by real geniuses like that of Studio Ghibli will largely be ignored.

*sigh*
At least Spirited Away is/was really popular.

I would make a comment about the Twilight series here but at this point is it really necessary?
But there is absolutely no comparison between what Studio Ghibli on any level and Twilight. None at all. Studio Ghibli's works are timeless art that will be remembered for generations to come. Twilight is insipid crap that will be forgotten by the majority of society in less than ten years.

Tact: you don't have it.

(And no, I don't like Twilight.)
