I did hear that Jet Li didn't get to do his usual ass kickery in this movie and that depresses me.

eeeegh Movie Bob.

This was more of a rant than a review.

I get that it was never going to be a great movie. It was almost certainly going to be successful if not just for all the big name actors in it, and people love their big name actors.

I would have much rather heard about where the movie was strong, and where the movie was weak and then just make up my mind if it would be worth seeing or not. I love to sit down and watch a cheesy action movie sometimes because it's fun.

Also, complaining about no gore? really? Maybe I'm just used to that now.

Oh well, my friend said that the movie wasn't awesome. I'll grab it on BD when it comes out, but I can't really see myself enjoying it in the cinema.

So... Wait... Bruce Willis seriously only had a cameo and hardly any part in the movie at all?

He was the reason that I wanted to see this movie... Suppose its a rent then...

Decent video, but I wonder if Bob has any idea just how clichéd the start of this one was? I mean, Bob basically nailed everything that the typical snob-critic says in a review. "People are sheep, this movie was shite yet people go and see it because people only want shite - now here's a brilliant movie that no one appreciated".

Everyone's entitled to an opinion, but my usual interest for Bob's videos took a massive draining blow the moment he started going on about people being sheep because they like action movies with big stars in them.

I could barely finish watching this review. Took a lot of strength.

I can't believe Bob this week. We are obedient sheep because we go see one of the biggest collaboration films this decade instead of watching a film that was barely advertised in many places? We are the worst kind of people on earth because we like the premise that a movie will be an homage to 80s action films?

He dropped the ball on this review. Insulting a film is one thing, insulting someone for liking it is another, but insulting people for thinking the premise sounds like a fun idea?. That's a new low. I won't even go into how much I disagree with you on the quality of the film.

For someone who tries to hinder people from being elitist nerds, you are one of the biggest elitist nerds I've seen in quite a while.
forgot to quote this.

this is just about how i felt watching it, i sank back in my chair a bit double checking that i actually enjoyed the movie.

this review was not enjoyable at all in any way, if you were reviewing your own review i might have been inclined to agree, but you destroyed a movie and people who liked the movie for just about...no reason at all.

And yet so many people on this site take shit from Yatzee and allow him to call them whatever he pleases and no one takes a second glance.
Odd isn't it?

Also this,

Also Movie Bob keeps holding up Equilibrium when talking about better action movies, that movie was utter twaddle pure over stylised matrix clone waffle. Even metacritic has it lower than the Expendables
I'm going to call it:

MovieBob is a hypocrite.

He complains that the people on earth are sheep following the word of the media and that we need to make our own decisions. BULLSHIT. That's not what he wants. He wants to be the one the sheep follow! That's why he's frustrated right now. A majority of people don't do what he thinks they should do, so he claims that they are sheep. What, so if we follow your word and just watch Scott Pilgrim instead of the Expendables we're not sheep?

Does he realize that Scott Pilgrim isn't AT ALL as appealing as The Expendables? Does he realize that Scott Pilgrim is aimed for a much smaller audience than the Expendables? If he doesn't, he's a moron. If he does, then he is frustrated because people won't go to see a film not meant for them, which, again, shows how he wants everyone to be his sheep, following his words. Anyone who doesn't? In Bob's eyes, they are the sheep of the media, explosion hungry idiots who don't deserve to watch films.

He's even worse than fucking Yahtzee! Yahtzee at least doesn't pretend to be anything else than someone who insults people that don't agree with him. Bob tries to make himself look like a god amongst nerds we all should follow, and when we don't, he starts to whine.

I went to see it with a group of mates post-exam results yesterday (Scott Pilgrim isn't released in the UK until Wednesday D: ) and I'd agree, it's artistically and filmographically rubbish, but it's good fun. I can't imagine looking to buy it on DVD/Bluray, but I can imagine in 10 or so years finding it in a bargain bin for £3 and thinking "I sorta remember this, it was quite fun, I might as well get it"

I'm so sad, I knew this movie was going to suck. But I was hoping that it was at least going to be fun like The A-team or G.I. Joe, how unfortunate.

No, disagree, wrong, wrong, wrong.
Does your review actually exist because you want to take revenge on the Expendables due to Scott Pilgrim doing badly?
You are bashing the movie because it is dumb and worthless yet you're complaining because of the lack of blood?
Seriously, this is the second time I am personally displeased with your reviews, because I have a feeling you wanted to hate it. Well, congratulations then.
Also, "worst people on Earth"? Niiiice.

Person on last page: People don't whine about Yahtzee because The Escapist, by large, is his *****. Saying anything bad about him/something he likes gets you reported very quickly.

Besides, his reviews are usually not really reviews, just jabs at what's wrong with a game. This is just flat-out stating that a movie is terrible, and if you think otherwise your opinion is worthless.

This isn't the first time I've disagreed with Bob, but it's the first time where he's not even attempting to review it. He's just insulting the movie, and people who like it.

Face the facts, it's an all-star action movie versus a niche title with a despised actor.

The outcome was never really in doubt.

I saw it and i loved it. It is not a piece of shit. Moviebob, you are wrong!
Unfortunately Movie Bob has to go to the movies because it's his job. Perhaps he at one time he went to movies to enjoy them he now has to punch in and out much like the usher. Not only that but he has to go home and watch dozens of movies a week to look at the past works of current directors and stars. This get's boring quickly so when he see's a film that tries nothing but to cater to the lowest common denominator it drives him crazy.
Feel pity for movie Bob because much like a fluffer on the set of a porno flick he is not in on the fun and will have to clean up the mess when it's over.

Was wondering what all the hype was about. It seemed pretty clear to me that the movie would be senseless, but with a great cast, hurrah for being right I suppose.
I had to pick between seeing Scott Pilgrim or Splice today (chose Scott Pilgrim btw, did not disappoint)...Expendables was not even a consideration.
It's a shame when good movies are overshadowed by bad ones with superior star-power.
EDIT:
Seems to be a lot of anger over this review. I found it humorous how much Bob hated it. Keep in mind that reviews are at the core just educated opinion, but that movies that do well, whether good or bad, tend to get repeated and overshadow anything else, stunting the growth of the industry until the effects die off. See: Twilight. It's the same deal, only it seems this time the audience consists of more people that watch these videos.
This doing well will likely have repercussions, which is what it seems Bob is frustrated with. My guess is that Scott Pilgrim seemed like a breath of fresh air being the relative risk it was, but now that trend is less likely to pick up since Expendables has stolen the show.

Yahtzee has never claimed to be on our side. Yahtzee has never tried to be something other than the "troll" he is. Virtually nobody takes Yahtzee's opinions seriously, rather just watching for fun.

MovieBob isn't even close to as funny as Zero Punctuation. He doesn't have any good jokes or a very entertaining premise. And he's not supposed to have any of these. He's supposed to have educated opinions and interesting discussions about films. Now that he's downgraded to this? Pathetic

Angry bob! Yes! And he hated the expendables too! Great episode. Go see Scott pilgrim.

Eh, the clip thats in every trailer for the expendables where they compare knives to bullets was... kind of neat? But thats not saying much.
