While I understand and completely agree with the first two points being unnecesary, creepy, and wrong--and that the books don't have enough influence to actually change young girls' mindsets (All my friends who are Twilight fans make fun of it more than I do, so hopefully this is a more standard affect of the books). However, I fail to see why "Don't sleep with every guy you meet" is a negative message...

Not to defend twilight or its horrible message, but the same arguments we gamers use to justify military propoganda like COD should be applied to abstinance propoganda like twilight. Most girls will be able to enjoy the entertainment without taking the message to heart, and those that do were probably the wack jobs that would have messed up their life without exposure to the offending media. To say any thing else makes us hypocrits.

Movie Bob is right we can easily rip on twilight as a book and movie, but what is scary is what it is inspiring in people, how quickly this has grown and the sheer amount of stuff that has been created from this horrible series. Anywhere you go you are bound to run into something twilight or some crazy girl who thinks twilight is the best thing ever.

The thing is... no matter how much you talk about and point out how stupid the message is, how awful the characters are, or how terrible Twilight is in general, you're not going to convince any fan to not see this movie. There is absolutely nothing good about it, but it has legions of die-hard fans who don't care how many flaws there are. Breaking Dawn could be a three hour long movie of cardboard cutouts of all the characters that's made with someone's home video camera, and it would still make hundreds of millions of dollars and people would still call it the best movie they've ever seen. Nothing you can say will stop the fans...

You know every time I try to make some sense of Twilight my logical brain overloads and I have to clean up blood and bits of gray matter off the wall. It is truly amazing that a series like this is allowed to exist. I mean an extremely religious woman who writes a book about some of the most unholy monsters out there, and then tries to put a spin on it that it is ok to be co dependent on men who are abusive, overbearing, and even though they may "loose control" that you should always stay with them. It is just so very wrong all of it I mean......*an explosion occurs* dammit...now i gotta clean that up.

I don't think it was the escapist that made him see this movie, I think he did it for a bet. Either way I hope you enjoy the money earned from watching this, because you really earned it by sitting through this shit.
Is this going to become a common thing now, moviebob doing stuff on a wednesday. We had animated thursday when Apocalypse Lane + Doralius and Associates was on. Are we getting Angry Guy Wednesday with you and Yahtzee?
Cause that would be awesome.

(Yes I know there is that show with the strippers playing DnD but frankly I stopped caring about that on episode 1 and ENN as well but its easier for me to make the theme as Angry Wednesdays.)

I had to go on leave from my movie theater job because of this movie. Partially because of a leg injury, and partially because I might berate people. When the last twilight "movie" came out, I alsomt got fired by asking people "Are you sure you want to throw your money away?"

As a steadfast fan of movie bob and his commentary i am once again happy to see this and spend my time watching it, if only for pure comedic value, however! i was also shocked too see the message in this review simply because of the title. What i was expecting was another hate fest on twilight and was very shocked because of its truth! when the whole message in a cult classic that i swear to god every single girl on this frickin continent has read is one of such medival anti female retardedness and not too mention hugely religious its a scary reality. imagine if everyone copied bella or whatever her name is. it would look like a church. nuff said.

Except that's not the message, is it? The message is that you should never have sex before you're married because it will destroy your life. I don't have as huge a problem with the abstinence moralising as I do with the glorification of abusive relationships and emotionally unhealthy behaviour, but why does it have to be so black and white? There are more choices than being abstinent or being a whore.

Having said that I usually agree with Bob. Going from memory: Transformers, The Losers, Up, Kick Ass, Drag Me to Hell, Book of Eli. He gets all the important movie reviews right, either praising them or condemning them.

Twilight and Sex and the City are quite amusing to me. They are alright little films but because they are aimed towards women every man in the (online)world gets all riled up about how they mutate impressionable young girls into something other than what they desire them to be.

It isn't a classic series of films but it is somewhat irritating to see the wrath and fury of young men over films like this when 90% of all Hollywood films are now aimed at 14 year old boys. I'm going to stop now because then I'll just head into a big rant against Transformers, which is pointless seen as no member of this site is dumb enough to like Revenge of the Fallen; and no member of this site is rich and bastardly enough to be a Hollywood executive (I assume).
