I alternate between a black mousepad with a wrist-rest on it and a Looney Toons pad with Wile E Coyote and Road Runner on it.

A Razer Exactmat with armrest. My mouse doesn't really need a mat, but I found that without the armrest the callouses on my wrist really would get out of control.

This bad boy, super thin low friction surface that sticks to hard desks so it never slips. My mouse glides over this badboy like the laws of physics just stopped, beauty.

UPPER DECK (Card game company) playmats are identical to these mats, by the way. And they cost like 6 dollars :3. They never slip because of the relatively high friction for a mat and the massive surface area.

Actually: only the surface material is identical, the UPPER DECK ones are way, way bigger, and don't move for the reason I described earlier.

This one's 90x45cm and took about 40 newtons to make it slide.

I use a Razer Destructor.

I doubted it's usefulness before I had one but oh god was I wrong. The difference is amazing and I've never looked back. Much better than the WOW collectors ones that smear off all this inky sludge... ugh

Wish it had a cool image on it though... but it doesn't really matter, when it's in use it's covered by your hand!

I pity the fool, who uses anything else!

A portal one from the valve store. It has a poem on it which is pretty cool...

It reads:
Not in cruelty,
Not in wrath,
The Reaper came today;
An Angel visited this gray path
And took the cube away.

on the go, latest tech allows me to soil my mouse on any surface. Vomit-soaked commuter train butt padding. drugs-enriched shiny surfaces. Everything. Problem is, even just at home, those cute little teflon feet tend to a) get scratched and b) collect all sorts of stuff you didn't even know was there. dust. more, finer dust that clogs up everything. Hairs from you, your loved ones, your pets, your neighbours pets and random hairs you have no clue as to whom or what they once belonged to. Then there's the IKEA phenomenon, where your cute little mouse feet slowly but steadily peel off the top layer of wood/paint/something, which makes the mouse suck and the surface shiny where it should be dull and dull where it should be shiny.

So, after a century of going strong without no fancy mousepad, I got this:

ELECOM E-FORCE GMP20

and it's like finding out your car has more than just the "R" gear. It basically looks like a painted piece of plasticized baking sheet from above. The bottom side is shiny-metallic something that will stick - no glue! - to whatever surface you make its home. Very smooth working (and playing), very lovely. It's really thin, on a dark desk (black/charcoal/dark grey/...) it is virtually invisible, but makes quite a difference. I am using it with a variety of Logitech MX mice, and they all feel upgraded, even the ones that must soon turn half a decade old.

For some reason, the bigger one was cheaper, so I got that one and thought I could, y'know, cut it to suit my needs. Turns out, big is beautiful. I'll rather get another one than cut it up. Splendid piece of kit, hereby recommended!
