The first game wasn't exactly gamepad friendly, I'm curious to see how they're streamlining the control scheme.
The Witcher 2 already supports 360 gamepad, and it's hardly the most mechanically complex game control wise. The only thing that's annoying when using a game pad with they game is navigating inventory/shop screens and junk like that. Combat, movement, ect...already work with a 360 controller; hell when you watch their demonstrations of the game they are using 360 pads.

About time that CD Projekt got interested in making money.
Yeah, becouse there is no money to be made on the PC and CD Projekt definitely does not make money on GoG right?

OT: Nice for console users I guess but i will still get it for the PC around summertime so i does not really matter for me anyway.

Thank you Lord! Yes a hardcore RPG might not be the cup of tea for the average 360 owner but I would (and they have) bet on the fact that there's a lot of gamers who love complex and hard games that either (i) can't afford a sparkly PC (ii) choose to spend their money on other things or (iii) just enjoying gaming on the sofa with a pad more than at a desk (especially when they spend all day at a desk!).

As long as the conversion is good, and the reviews, I'm probably sold.

For once I actually don't want to fan the flames of the PC vs. console debate, but The Witcher is a relatively hardcore RPG when compared to games like Fable [http://www.amazon.com/Dragon-Age-2-Xbox-360/dp/B0047TG2R0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1306299661&sr=8-1], which could keep console versions from achieving a level of success comparable to what it's enjoyed on the PC. Or is that an unfair generalization?
I think it's fair to say that's an unfair generalization, Andy. I wouldn't be surprised if the game appeals to a lot of people let down by dragon age 2's less than hardcore treatment. However, don't go claiming a victory for snobbery if the game doesn't sell well. It's notoriously buggy and unstable on PC atm. A prospect of ill omen remains for a console port at this time.

I haven't paid much attention to The Witcher series (it's a series now right?). I only play old school deathmatch shooters on PC due to hardware limitations.

If the game is good, I will certainly pick it up.

YYYYYYYYEEEEEEEESSSSSS!!! I was getting so excited for this game until it came out and found it was only on PC! I could have sworn that I've seen it listed as coming out on consoles at some point before now! I was really disappointed when I found out I was wrong but this is great news! I haven't enjoyed any console RPG for ages!!! Brilliant!!! :D

Eh? 'Notoriously' buggy? The only complaints I've heard from are a few Nvidia card users, and even they solved their problems by uninstalling their 3D drivers. So far they need patches for a couple of things like SLi and 4:3 aspect ratio, but otherwise it's one of the least buggiest releases of recent memory. Your qualifier is rather misplaced.

Dunno about the 360, but it might fare well with the PS3 crowd, considering the kind of appeal Demon's Soul has there. From the gameplay perspective at least.

Edit: Considering the kind of reception the Elder Scroll and Fallout titles got on the Xbox, the 360 would probably be a safe bet as well.

Oh sweet Jesus please! I have a bad taste in my mouth from Dragon Age 2 and Fable 3 that I need an awesome RPG to play or I will have to resort to replay Dragon Age: Origins. I seriously do not have a powerful PC, seeing as I can't even play the PC version of Mass Effect 2 on it. The Witcher 2, from what I seen, seems to be geared more towards action rpg, which is okay with me. And sense Mass Effect 3 got delayed to 2012, I need another RPG to complement Skyrim.

Dragon Age Origins was much more hardcore than the first witcher I think... (I played Dragon AGe Origins on normal on cosnoles and Witcher I played on as easy or normal forgot which. lol) People died quite often while playing Dragon AGe Origins I think on normal... My reflexes kind of suck so I'm hoping that I can get through Witcher 2, hopefully easy would be easy enough. It seems as long as I can get through the prologue the rest of the game should be fine...

BuT YES. I'm in the middle of chapter 4 playing the 1st witcher for the first time and it is a good game. The second one looks awesome though and glad it will probably be for consoles so I can play it without buying a new computer just for that ONE game.

I think there's an audience in the 360 crowd. It's not like 360 owners don't want hardcore RPGs because they don't currently have any. But that's not even true either. I still play Oblivion quite a lot, and plenty of other people do as well. We want deeper RPGs but we aren't getting them!!!

Woot! May have to go preorder- the games looks awesome and I love CD Projekt RED's politics.

Oh and I cannot wait for the bellyaching and whinging from some members of the PC gaming community.

Yeah I agree -- I don't really think this game is gonna find its audience so much on the 360. It seems like the kind of game PS3 owners would embrace more.

It might be a little off-putting for anyone not prepared. I came into this series fresh with this title and it took me 8 levels to get to a point where combat doesn't kill me 75% of the time. They don't really introduce the signs very well so I ended up just using Aard all the time. I've got the hang of them now, but some of these fights are just brutal and unforgiving and I think I'm just doing Normal. I don't mind it, but I can see why other may be frustrated. Not to mention that the game sort of just thrusts you into the story without recapping the events of the first. Again, I've picked up on the relevant bits and I'm not lost or anything, but it's not the easiest introduction to a series.

As for the DA2 comparisons, I don't think they're relevant for the most part. The two games are comparable in that they're both western RPGs, but they have different characters, feels, scopes, mechanics... I had a lot of fun with DA2 and I still do. If you want to get down to brass tacks, The Witcher 2 appears to be superior in terms of its graphics, art direction & aesthetics, and it's size and scope. No argument here on that. But DA2 has that undeniable BioWare charm and (so far) superior companion characters (no offense Triss). So mark me down as one of the (apparently) few people that like both of these games.

I'm an RPG fan, not an RPG snob.

I am curious how the game is going to look in the 360 though, considering it's pretty much hands down the most gorgeous RPG ever made to date (take a walk through the woods outside of Flotsam and tell me otherwise, and I'll show you filthy lies!), and the 360 isn't exactly "sprightly" these days; it will be interesting to see how and where they end up downscaling things to accommodate console hardware restrictions.
Yeah the game looks amazing and I can only go up to high settings right now (ultra gets really slow for me). I think the visuals are responsible for why this game has delayed my L.A. Noire playthrough for the last few nights.

Now that you mention it, the Fallout games did sell rather well on the XBox360 as well. Not to mention how DA2 actually sold less than DA:O...

Information time!: Demons' Souls sold like feces in Wal-Mart food section. Not well, especially being placed next to the one-dollar oven-baked pizzas. The 360 market actually craves challenges and hardcore games. Many challenge themselves daily to try to get 1000g in a game, to make it feel worth it. The audience responded well to Bayonetta, Devil May Cry 4, Vanquish, and Bulletstorm. Plus, half of the consumers on the system have at the very least made an adamant attempt on Gears of War insane difficulty, Call of Duty's veteran mode, and Halo's legendary mode.

They crave challenge on that side of the market and they adore RPGs. The response to Fallout, Oblivion, Alpha Protocol, Mass Effect, Dragon Age: Orgins and Fable has been tremendously well. Even JRPGs have sold valiantly.

The Witcher 2 will be right at home. So long as the developers can make it look nearly as great as Crytek Frankfurt did with porting over Crysis 2. In which I mean, no where near as beautiful as PC, but still gorgeous.

EDIT: I was ninja'd, but who gives an eff.

Its usually wise to air on the side of caution but I dont think being a hardcore type RPG is going to limit the console crowd. Hell look at Demon's Souls success. Plus its important to remember that a very large bulk of the RPG crowd, got their teeth cut on old school console RPG goodness. So I think its going to be a welcome addition to consoles.
Hardcore doesn't mean hard
It means "complex" and more "traditional" as opposed to "streamlined for more audience"

My mac couldn't play this, and I played it a while ago at a friend's house during a LAN party.
You aren't kidding that it makes Dragon Age look like a children's game. Its really great, and I really really REALLY hope it comes out on xbox.
If it comes out on PS3, thats another game that supports me buying that damned system... so please come out on xbox D:
