Hellz yea, lol. I am a Fable fanboy. I've drank the Molyneux Kool-aid. Already have my limited Ed. Fable III pre-ordered!!!
I can't tell weather you're mocking me or whether you're serious, but frankly, I don't care.
I will be more than happy to put down 60$ for the newest game in a series that I love.

HUZZAH!
No, no. I am completely serious. I absolutely love the Fable games. No sarcasm, I have drank the Molyneux Kool-Aid, and am happy about it!

Also, I completely agree. I will also happily pay $60 for more fable! I'm actually dropping about $80 for more Fable!!! These are one of the only games that I would spend the money on an "ultra" edition of.

Well, i'll buy the game. And just before half the Peter haters jump in here, at least Peter and Lionhead try something different with their games.
I presume by "different with their games" that you mean different from other developers, which is at least arguable. Because the fact that they are releasing a THIRD Fable game is almost the definition of doing the same thing. And even past that, Pete's games all seem to revolve around the same tetherball staff, i.e. emotionally connect to characters through a relatively causal interaction.

Personally, it sounds like Peter is trying reverse psychology. He made claims that the first two Fable games would be the greatest things ever, ever, which they weren't. Now he's saying that this game HAS to do well or else they're boned. The expected reaction to this is that the game will have awesome success.

I was beyond disappointed with Fable 2. Everything was just so shallow. I don't like the "emote" way to communicate with people and that's returning in Fable 3. The combat was a little... I don't know, jerky? It worked but it felt kind of funny... stiff might be a good way to put it.

I think what I'm getting at is what I've seen from Fable 3 is that it's basically Fable 2 again (you even get a dog) except there's this whole monarchy business and rise to the throne. I want them to make the core of the game enjoyable first before adding on all these extra frills that are entirely half baked.

The dog for example. Why was it there? Peter wanted us to care about the dog, I didn't care about the dog at all. It just ran around and got hurt, then I needed to heal it. That seemed to be it's explicit purpose. It was an awful fighter and provided me no emotional attachment.

Fable 3 just seems to do so little different that there is no way in hell I'm getting the game on release day.
You sir took the words right out of my mouth. I have lost all faith in the Fable series after playing Fail 2. I had a lot of fun with Fable 1 but I just felt like the series took a nose dive with the second game. Lionhead and Peter are great with coming up with new ideas but they never get fully realized or developed.

The only problem with this is that the Fable Series has horrible Replay Value, i don't see how Peter is gonna get this to work.
I disagree, i played through Fable 2 about 6 times through before I got bored of it. Then again, not everyone enjoyed Fable 2 as much as I did...

Well, I'll be getting Fable 3 anyway. I quite love the franchise despite the undeserved hate people sling at it, I think it's a great game.
I still play my Fable 2 occasionally, and before Fable 2 I played Fable 1 everyday (I had very few original Xbox games and no job for more games... But regardless I enjoyed it.

I'm definitely getting fable 3.

Yeah, that's always been Peter's downfall; promising the moon and delivering a part of it.
I think my biggest issue with Fable 2 is that 95% of the game is just fucking around. Shooting gargoyles, creating statues of yourself, those horrid mini games for money, buying every house, listening to the bard's songs, playing the lute in public, acting like a jackass, finding shit in a field... I could go on.

The thing is, the game just does not feel FREE enough to try to be sandboxy like that. Your character can't jump or slide down a hill except at key points where it prompts you to. It's like my character was just glued to the ground. The world and towns are very small and the main story just isn't really gripping. It admittedly was serviceable but I really wasn't on the edge of my seat.

One more thing... THE INVENTORY SYSTEM.
My GOD this needs to be fixed. It was laggy, it was awkward, it was slow and just flat out stupid. I go into my "books" list and BAM there is like fucking 80 books in there, thanks game now I have to SLOWLY since you won't change items any fast, scroll through these damn books to find whatever one I wanted.

Exactly that. Lionhead games are very "WE'RE GONNA DO THIS AND ITS GONNA BE GREAT AND YOUR'LL LOVE IT" and that enthusiasm is something the gaming industry is lacking.

5 million copies, $150 million profit = $30 profit per copy sold.
i thought it was only profit after they had recouped the cost of making the game...

i for one am not interested in getting fable 3.
fable was ok, fable 2 was nothing special for me, am not holding hope for fable 3 to change my mind.

The inventory was definitely an issue, as were the odd jobs around town. The whole game felt heavy to me. Like you said, I was "glued to the ground" most of the time. Peter always touts Fable as a living and breathing world but it just feels cramped and scripted. Constant loading screens, a mini-game as a conversation engine, and a general lack of interest on my part. So what if I can get married and have a child? Nothing happens to or affects my gameplay in any way. Fable is loaded with that kind of useless shit. I would be much happier if rather than tacking on more cosmetic fluff they stripped the game down a bit and used Fable 1 as an influence. But hey, that's usually how I feel about games these days. (Gears 2, Halo 2, MW2.)

I could almost forgive the storyline if I had to have done more to win than press the Y button.

Fable 2 was so dissapointing I will not be buying this installment. The Fable and Black & White series have both failed to live up to Molyneux's hype, then he turns around and calls them dissapointments while saying how the next thing he's working on will be WIN to a factor of 10. He does it every time! And I've fallen for it everytime because the man really does think about the videogame as an artform and how to innovate, but he never pulls off half of what he says, while features he raves about are often borderline broken.

Fable 2, a select few faults:
Poorly implemented co-op, poor path-finding & AI on dog, worst menu system I've ever encountered, weak story (which Molyneux spoiled extensively before the game was released), money became totally meaningless, purchasing property was pointless, morphs were very limited, townspeople were annoying morons, generally slow & buggy.

I don't see him fixing core problems with the gameplay, and it's a shame because this franchise could be very good.

I think this kind of demonstrates a big part of the problem with the gaming industry as a whole, and is one of the things I'm always talking about.

It's not enough to make a profit, even millions of dollars, "oh no... we have projected this massive amount of profit that we feel we deserve, and if we don't make that much it's a failure....". What's more a lot of companies seem to claim the amount they fall short by as a loss.

This is the kind of mentality that is killing the game industry.

I mean honestly, I understand they are out to make a profit, this isn't a charity, but when your looking at numbers like that, it's just getting ridiculous.

What's more, if they do make 150 million dollars, it's going to be funny if they are still crying about all the money on top of that that they should have, but obviously lost due to piracy. :p

<--- isn't gonna give a cent to him, it's his own fault for making a game that is boring and gets over hyped more than MW2 and Halo 3 when they both came out
I disgress, it's not actually possible by the laws of physics to be MORE hyped than MW2 and Halo 3!

OT: I'll happily add Ā£40 to that total!
At least those games are still good and entertaining (especially Halo 3). Fable took forever to come out and became mediocre and Fable 2 was boring as hell. The disappointment with both games comes just short of Too Human. It's basically becoming a Too Human where they're spending millions of dollars to become even a below average game.
"Good", "entertaining" and "boring" are all opinions. From my point of view, I found Fable 2 to be far more fun and interesting than Halo 3. Running around as an emotionless and faceless space-marine isn't everyones piece of cake!

You know what, Molyneux? I don't believe you. I think your precious franchise will do just fine on a hundred million.

Well have it some out for PC, without evil DRM, and at only $50 and I will so buy it. Oh and releasing the 2nd on PC would be nice to
