Looks like Bethesda is following the original story line of Vegas being rebuilt in the old Fallout games. (I think that happened in Fallout 2)
You mean "New Reno" NOT "New Vegas". God I hope they haven't just tried to follow the continuity and fell on their faces again.
I know it was called New Reno, but I'm positive it was refered to new as New Vegas aswell in Fallout 2. (I could be wrong though, but I'm sure I heard it somewere)

This actually looks really sweet. I've never played any of the Fallout games but this one looks really interesting. I'll have to check it out.
Ladies and gentlemen, we have one who has not yet become part of the collective...
Ready for your rigirous indoctrination, sir?

On topic, sounds like a pretty fun game. My guess is we get to kill big casino tycoons and take over their business!
Yay for exploitation of the weak!

Aside from the disappointment of an amnesia based story line, I'm incredibly excited... Which will probably bite me in the ass, later.
There was no mention of your character having amnesia anywhere. He was carrying a package as a courier, was attacked, barely survived, and now wants to know who attacked him and what exactly was in the package.

Fallout: New Vegas will offer "a brand new, fresh experience that has a familiar feel of Fallout, but otherwise it's an entirely new game and a new look, with Joshua trees and tumbleweeds and blue skies,"
thats what worries me.... I want the feel of the first 3(no Tactics) with the vegas setting.

So... post-apocalyptic GTA? That sounds awesome, I think...
Er...yeah, GTA, just add:
Stats,
Customization to a whole new level,
Morality decisions even more,
Tons of weapons and specializations,
actually good conversations with NPCs,
Did I mention the fact you actually creat your character from the ground-up? Such as being able to be either a crazy grenade-throwing bastard, a assault-rifling saint, or a sneaky thief?
Yeah, GTA, just add all that.

Yea, post-apocalyptic GTA. Just like I said.

Well, considering I spent 150 hours or so on my main Fallout 3 file (with all the DLCs), exploring is definitely something I enjoy; honestly, that was my favourite aspect of Fallout 3, and I look forward to these "hundreds" of hours required to explore the vast world of New Vegas. Goddamn, this game is going to kick SO much ass.... I can FEEL it.

Isn't it funny how the quote is "will take 100s of hours"? TAKE, steal, require, demand. That's a very different wording than "will provide" or "will allow." It just sounds wrong.

Also I like Bethesda's Fallout 3. Modded, it provides a genuine feeling of depth (vanilla = cakewalk, vapid). I would hate it if all quests jumped out at you. What quests you miss is just as defining of your character as what quests you complete. A complete laundry list of quests would suck you right out of the feeling as you clearly see the exact finiteness of the game.

I'm guessing that this new storyline means I won't be able to use my Fallout 3 character... Ah well, can't believe every rumor you hear, still I'm excited as hell about this new game, when it comes out I'll be charging into the store like a feral ghoul.

Fallout: New Vegas is being developed by Obsidian Entertainment, a company founded by Feargus Urquhart and Chris Avellone, two of the makers of Fallout 2 (originally at Black Isle Studios). The project is led by J.E. Sawyer, one of the lead designers of Van Buren, the canceled Fallout 3 project by Black Isle Studios. John R. Gonzalez is the lead creative designer, while Obsidian founder Chris Avellone, who worked on Fallout 2 and Van Buren is a senior designer. Joe Sanabria is the lead artist.
Have you wet your pants yet?

No?

Frank Kowalkowski, the lead programmer, was the lead programmer for another game that turn out not to badly; KOTOR 2

Joshua Eric Sawyer and Chris Avellone are game designers (Sawyer being lead designer and project director) a small look at their past efforts should leave fallout fans jumping for joy.

Not to mention Scott Everts, the Lead World Builder, whose previous works read like a must play list from any game site you would care to mention.
Aside from Fallout and Fallout 2, he has worked on over 20 different games, including Star Trek: 25th Anniversary, Star Trek: Judgment Rites, Stonekeep, Planescape: Torment, Icewind Dale, Icewind Dale 2 and Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2 at Interplay, and Star Wars Knight of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords, Neverwinter Nights 2, Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer at Obsidian.

Now proceed to shit and piss yourself with excitement.

I hope and I pray this turns out to be better than Fallout 3 (which was pretty damn good) in every way!

Otherwise I will be, in Pimppeter2's words, a sad banana.
Have to say the same here, although the idea of it taking up hundrteds of hours of my life... My girlfriend is not going to like that.

I am looking forward to it but the question is, buy right away or wait for a reduced price to offset the obvious DLC which will be churned out?

Im wondering if they have public transportation, and real hookers this time.
Aww, that's unfair. Nova was a real hooker. The sex was just, well, implied.

As cool as it sounds, running around Vegas isn't a Fallout game.
A-ha, but this is New Vegas! Your logic is flawed! Seriously though, I expect New Vegas will have plenty of Fallout touches. Just because it wasn't leveled two hundred years previous, doesn't mean it won't be a true Fallout location. It is set in an alternate reality after all. Besides, it's not as if you're only going to be running around Vegas. There's still plenty of new stuff and places to explore.

This is killing me inside, only picking up the little tid-bits that the developers throw out to the fans. GRAH, WANT MORE FALLOUT NOW!
