I agree with them. I mean, everyone knows that families consist entirely of children and those with delicate sensibilities. I meen sheesh, you don't think Xbox owners have families, do you? Don't be ridiculous.

As some people have said before me...that's not the first violent game that's been on the Wii (other examples being Resi, Dead Rising, Manhunt 2, HotD, Ghost Squad and more).

About Nintendo 'tarnishing their family friendly image'...haven't they already done that before? (and rebuilt that image with the Wii) When we think of the N64 some of us get memories of Super Mario 64, Legend of Zelda, Mario Kart, Donkey Kong 64 etc. while some of us also remember titles like Duke Nukem, Doom, Turok, Body Harvest and Quake.

When we say 'fun for all the family' we should stop for a second and ask just what exactly is a family? The people who made this complaint are probably going with the 'loving man and wife with two kids around the age of 8-10' definition but a) that isn't applicable for everyone and b) no-one stays like that forever. If they only cater to the needs of parents and preteens then they're going to find that their audience will grow up fast and lose interest (and thus stop playing and buying their consoles and games).

Family Org has no shame.

What Nintendo are doing is catering to a more hard-core gaming audience, and these guys go off their rocker. You know, families that don't want their kids to play these games could use parental controls, or they could just not buy the game.

Please.

What a bunch of dicks. I hope their children hate them.
Possibly if they spent a little more time with their children and a little less time being "outraged!" then their kids would grow up feeling loved and actually want to share a nice game with the parents; rather than the parents expecting the Wii to act as a surrogate mother.

"MadWorld is another reminder that parents need to make sure they watch what their kids watch and play what their kids play."
To me, the fact that they need reminding to pay attention to what their children are doing means they automatically fail at parenting.

Why didn't they go crazy about No More Heroes? Oh, that's right, because these people don't really care, they just like publicity.

To be fair, Nintendo have never been truly family-friendly. They just like to pretend they are. Okay, okay, MAYBE during the SNES years they were, but not now.

The N64 had Perfect Dark and Body Harvest, the GC has Resident Evil 4, Eternal Darkness, REmake, RE2, RE3, Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, Timesplitters: FP (decapitations abound) and Killer7, to name a few. If Nintendo claimed they were family friendly, it was (in my opinion) only because they failed to acquire the licenses (or their system was too hard to program for, what with their tiny discs) for the popular "mature" games. For one thing, a lot of the really good mature games were made by companies that produced games exclusively for either the PS2 or Xbox.

As I said, though, they don't really care. This is just another way for them to gain publicity and shift their parental responsibilities to somebody else.

By their logic, we should hate Martin Scorcese because he makes films for adults. Or hate Disney for making Tron (their first PG-rated film, I think.)

Goodfellas. Classic film or attempt to subvert your kids to a life of crime?

I think these guys are a bit behind the times. Didn't Manhunt 2 have you holding the Wiimote like a knife? Or was that just an urban myth?
Parents need to watch and play what their kids play. And this is apparently a bad thing? Parents should be doing this anyway!

It is the parents' job to watch what their kids do. It isn't Nintendo's job to relieve parents of this fundamental duty by restricting what games are available for purchase by adults. I'm so sick of people trying to displace responsibility.

When I was a kid, if I got my hands on an R-rated movie, it wasn't the fault of the movie-makers, or the actors, or the advertsing companies, or the rental store. There were only 2 people at fault, myself and my parents. I got punished and my parents kept a closer watch. Now, we have BAD parents who are LAZY. They don't take responsibility for their FAILURE to supervise, nor do they put any responsibility on their kids for acquiring something they know they shouldn't have.

Last I checked the Wii wasn't so much as 'family friendly' as it was 'something for everybody'. There were already pretty violent games on the Wii, and Madworld's graphics/art style make it look rather tame compared to something like, say, Resident Evil. Also, they're not speaking the same language as Nintendo anyway. Nintendo only speaks moneyese. And if Madworld sells, which I don't doubt it will since it seems like quite the anticipated title, you can expect similar games will follow.

Of course, there is a top secret solution to avoid exposing your kids to such a violent game. A solution game developers don't want parents to know about. What is this miracle solution?

DON'T BUY THE GAME FOR THEM

I seriously fear for the next generation if their children turn out like they do. An entire generation that wants everything done for them. Sheesh.

"have to watch what their kids play" Well, you know, that kind of is THEIR JOB! Once you become a parent, that is your career, I don't care if you are a man or woman, once you have a kid, your life is about them. No more is your job advancement a way to increase your ego, it is a way to better your child's oppurtunities. No more are your weekends just a day off, it is time to spend bonding with and teaching your child. No longer can you be an immature jerkoff. You must be a parent.
So incredibly true. The world would be a better and more sane place if more people agreed with you.

The parents who support these media watchdog groups don't want to be parents, so their entire method of parenting consists of trying to get the kid to sit still for as long as possible so mommy and daddy don't have to look after them. And TV is the cheapest substitute for a babysitter around, so they dump their kids in front of it and wander off. Video games keep them in one spot for longer. But these parents don't want to take the time to supervise what their kid watches or plays, that defeats the entire purpose of getting the brats out of their hair. So they convince themselves that it's the job of the people who make TV shows and video games to stop putting out material that they don't want their little brats watching.

Doesn't a game like this make the Wii really family friendly, tho? Not everyone in a family is a youth, you know.

Umm...Overkill? Manhunt? Resident Evil 4?

Wii has had it's far share of 18 games.
SSBB? Smashing someone in the face with a baseball bat doesn't seem very kid friendly, even if it is Pikachu.
But that's harmless slapstick. Even when you run them over with Falcon's ride.
