Never Back Down.

Its a good martial arts movie. and the best remake of Karate Kid without taking the karate kid name. I actually wouldn't have made teh connection between the two if I hadn't seen a review for jaden smiths Karate Kid that mentioned it.

*EDIT*
So I don't double post.

Considering very few people I know have actually seen "Memento" I'm gonna have to go with it. Early Christopher Nolan FTW
Saw that three years ago. Great movie. Got it on Netflix but apparently since I had already seen it my mom and sister got to over rule me watching it the other day.

^And this.

Although, sadly even the more famous Miyazaki and Satoshi Kon movies are considered "obscure" outside of geek circles. People don't know what they're missing, man.

Personally, I don't have a favorite (unless you count Yojimbo as obscure) but two movies I saw recently that I really liked were Cave of Forgotten Dreams (3-D Werner Herzog documentary about cave paintings) and Pontypool (genuinely original zombie movie.)

Your avatar has a serious Lamont Cranston vibe. Do you know what evil lies in the hearts of men? My dad had audio tapes of the Radio serial and we listened to them in the car on family trips when I was a kid.

As for films without a high profile that I really like? I really like a Japanese film called Branded to Kill, it is a sixties hitman film with a lot of out-there film techniques cool set pieces and a main actor that had cheek implants to make him look more western, but instead make him look like a chipmunk.

A fistful of dynamite by Sergio Leone, most people think that his best one of the second trilogy is Once upon a time in America, but to me this film is special.
I saw it as Duck You Sucker, and have seen it called Once Upon a Time in the Revolution as well. Rod Steiger's second best role (can't beat In The Heat of the Night but this is better than On The Waterfront.) The scene in the cave is particularly moving.

My favorite obscure movie? It's one word, Poultrygesit the gory Horror Musical about zombie chickens that you had no idea you'd been waiting for. I submit to you exhibits A and B.

That's a tough question seeing as most of my favorite movies are generally popular. I guess I'll go with Fantastic Mr. Fox. I don't know if the internet knows about it, but everyone I know doesn't know about it.

I like it because it's one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. The humor is extremely dry though, so it's not for everyone.
Awesome movie, the close ups on the faces were creepy though

I guess, most recently, poultrygeist is my favorite obscure movie. I don't know how to explain it, although it is EXTREMELY profane. I wouldn't recommend watching this after eating.
Do you mean Poltergeist?

Fandango. Great movie about life.
The Fall. Just watch it.
Legends of the Fall. Yeah Brad Pitt, is THE badass. Gives "Going Native" a whole new meaning.
Session 9. Mind fuck in the best fashion.
I'll post more as I think of them.

Last year I discovered a movie called Franklyn that I'd never really heard much of, I don't know if it was big or well received, but I really loved it. It was a bit slow at times, but it built up to a fantastic ending.
I'll second Franklyn, really loved that movie. I'll add "Bubba Ho-Tep" to the list. I must have passed it in the rental place (several years ago) about a hundred times before renting it. I got it expecting a Bruce Campbell fun "bad" movie. What I watched was truly a masterpiece. It's based upon a short story by Texas author Joe R. Lansdale, and anyone looking for a good read can much worse than Lansdale.

I personally am going to go for Donnie Darko. (I know like 5 people who saw it and they're the ones who told me to)

But if not that then Oldboy. (Which in the U.S. is more or less unheard of.... great movie)

The Machinist starring Cristian Bale was an amazing movie. One of his early roles and probably one of his best since he went all out with his character, such as losing massive amounts of weight to sell the malnourished look in the film. I dont know if this is obscure enough though
