This is the one I was forgetting. MUA was no gem of a game, but it was certainly a fun beat-em-up with a decent leveling system. I think I spent 60% of the game spinning around as Deadpool. MUA2 was just off in some way. I didn't make it far before quitting.

Destroy all humans 1/2 ----> Destroy all humans path of the furon. What felt like an actual alien invasion game with genuinly funny humor and voice acting to trying to be funny when you arent, poor voice acting and GLITCHY AS HELL!

In terms of single player, I was a bit disappointed with modern Warfare 2 after Modern Warfare 1. It just had less of the bits I loved (namely stealthy bits).

Tales of Symphonia.

Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the new world just missed the point of everything awesome in the first game.
I'm going to kind of agree, and disagree.

While Dawn of the New World could not capture the greatness that was the original ToS, I didn't think it was a bad game. Where ToS is a perfect 10 for me, I give DotNW an 8.5. Still fun and an overall good game... But look at what it was being compared to.

Though I hated Emil. Hated him. He got better as the game went on, but geez...

OT: Fable 3 disappointed me a bit. I didn't hate it, but I've yet to be compelled to go back through and play it again. They took out so much of the customization, which is one of my favorite things about the Fable series. I don't want a sword that morphs to fit my playstyle. I want a fucking cutlass.

And Halo 3 didn't do much for me. I've been a Halo fanboy from the beginning, but 3 just didn't draw me in like the others. I don't dislike it, but its easily my least favorite in the series.

Someone just called Chaos Theory "terribad".

I suggest nailing him to across, AND burning him.

Valkyria Chronicles.

The sequel wasn't neccesarily bad per say, in fact they have improved some gameplay aspects such as the enemy A.I., and mission variety.

However, the story and characters in the game were pretty sub-par compared to the first game. The main protaganist is annoying as all hell, and a lot of characters were basically stock characters used in so many games and anime. (Such as Cossete, who is the ditz.)

I also didn't like the new class system in that game. While I do like the increase of variety in soldier classes, I don't like how you're supposed to get them. In order for each and every soldier to upgrade to a higher class, they have to obtain a certain amount of certain items called credits gained by having them participate in certain missions. The worst part is that it's completely random whether or not a soldier gets these credits even if they did participate.

This kind of system forces you to grind certain missions in order for each and every soldier in your squad to obtain the right to get to a different class. Which is exactly what the first game sought out to prevent by making it so that when a soldier class goes up a level, everyone in that class, whether you use them a lot or not goes up a level. This leveling system is still present in the second game, but the credits system ends up contradicting it.

That's pretty much the one major reason why I believe that the game was inferior to it's predecesor. I really hope that if VC3 does come to U.S., they don't use that kind of gameplay system again.

Anyone say Bioshock 2 was a bad game I will punch them not nearly as good as it's predecessor yes, bad no.
Yeah, I wouldn't really call it "bad" either. I had enjoyment playing the game. I was immersed when I was playing it, and that's all I care about.

My biggest disappointment with BioShock 2 was the story. I just didn't think Lamb made a very good villain. We were spoiled with Ryan and with Fontaine.
I didn't really care for Sofia that much to be honest, I was more excited that I was a Big Daddy and I was back in Rapture. If I can be perfectly honest, anything BioShock 2 does wrong is totally forgiven in the good ending. The ending is so emotional it could make rocks cry. I'm sad now... I'ma go play BioShock 2 again.

Mass Effect -> Mass Effect 2.

ME2 was a pretty decent game, I am not going to dispute that. But it was not the ME I fell in love with. It felt stripped and bare. I think I was halfway through my first playthrough, when I realized it was like Gears of War in the Mass Effect universe.

KOTOR 1 >[To the power of about four] KOTOR 2

Second game had something of a better system and more variety, but the random item drop always seemed to give me crap or stuff I already had a hundred copies of (everytime I had a lightsaber drop in one game, it was always double bladed and I was trying to dual wield two normal ones, but couldn't get the second!!!)
First game had a great plot, second one had really anticlimactic ending and most of the worlds were a bit of a drag for me; Korriban (although way too short) and Dxun/Onderon were the only bits I really enjoyed.

MW - MW2 is the worst CoD game I've played to date; unbalanced to the power of OVER 9000!!!!!!! CoD4 is to date still my favourite in terms of both SP and MP, even if MP is relatively limited compared newer games.

Fallout 3, Assassin's Creed (The sequel was great, but not for the same reasons that the original game (I had it on PC) was awesome), and F.E.A.R. (The sequel was alright, but nowhere near as nerve racking as the first, though maybe that's because I had the console version of the sequel.).

Oh yes, the original Final Fantasy. more than 10 sequels later, it's suck level has been multiplied to the tenth power.

KotOR I, rocked, KotOR II.... much dissapoint
I agree, also, a very similar situation happened with the SW: Battlefront series. One was great, the changes they made for two, however, weren't so well received. While the class changing at spawns was convenient, certain character limitations LucasArts felt the game needed, for some reason, didn't quite cut it. That and the basic changes they made to the single-player took away from the action part of the game that made the first so engaging.

Valkyrie Profile Lenneth is one of my all-time favorite games.

I couldn't play Silmeria for longer than like five hours. I detested the combat in that game.

Second that; ME2 was good, but nowhere near the first one, which would have to rank in my top 10 games of all time.

Poor KotoR 2. It wasn't as good as the first, but I thought it did enough interesting things to be kept off this list.

However, I had to make my first post in a while because this thread is missing the most important inclusion of all: Final Fantasy Tactics. FFT Advance was an abomination.

Oh, and Metal Gear Solid, because 2 was largely terrible.

The Adventures of Alundra for PS1 was an incredible game - as close to a Zelda game as you can get on a non-Nintendo device. People in the US don't need to take my word for it, as I believe you guys can get it on PSN now. Alundra 2 decided to go for a 3D style instead and was just shocking. It took about half an hour to go from "Whee! More Alundra!" through "What is this mess" to "I'm never playing this piece of shite again".
