The shotgun form timesplitters 2. There is a gun with some shells on the side of the gun when you get down to you last 5 shells it starts to use them instead of ignoring them like other shooters.

That legitimately sounds really cool. Why can't we have more of this in our games?
I can just imagine being in a heated battle and realizing that you're reaching for one of your last five bullets, surrounded by five bad guys...

Can't find a video of it, but: Max Payne. Reloading dual handguns in bullet-time by spinning around, crouched, arms outstretched, clips flying out out and BAM both reloaded. MAGIC

The other one: Reloading the atomic warhead into the missile-launcher in "Shadow Warrior"
No animation or anything... just the weapon suddenly talking:
"Stand by... 3... 2... 1... ALL SYSTEMS READY"
And when you shoot:
"WARNING"
BOOOOM

That's my runner-up; my favorite is Half-Life 2's magnum reload, I think there was something about spinning the chamber at the end that just made it seem badass.
EDIT: Oh yes, and the Combine rifle's reload wasn't half-bad either.

The metallic scraping noise is nice and the empty reload is awesome.
Shame it's ruined by being both Nickel-plated and rubbish in the game...

Any game that has a machine gun that you have to meticulously open up, with steam dissipating as you unload the gigantic box of ammo and load up a new one.

Any COD 4 Machine. Why? so I get a chance to take a piss in the middle of a firefight

Back in the days of Battlefield 2 being prevalent. I think it was the 1st unlock rifle for the Medic class. Quite calm reload animation with a very satisfying sound effect for pulling back the bolt(?) to load the ammunition proper.

The sound effect they get for pulling back the bolt to load rounds is what makes a reload animation great, I think.

I love reloads in the following games:

-Any light machine gun, where you have to empty the belt and put a new ammo box in
-Bad Company 1 & 2, becuase the sounds are so mechanical and cool
-Killing Floor, since all reloads are animated perfectly so they don't look sloppy during Zed-Time. Especially the Tactical 9mm.
