As much as I loved sneaking about, I had to shoot that bloody thing empty just to see the reload animation.

Over and over again.

Back in the days of Battlefield 2 being prevalent. I think it was the 1st unlock rifle for the Medic class. Quite calm reload animation with a very satisfying sound effect for pulling back the bolt(?) to load the ammunition proper.

The sound effect they get for pulling back the bolt to load rounds is what makes a reload animation great, I think.

I love reloads in the following games:

-Any light machine gun, where you have to empty the belt and put a new ammo box in
-Bad Company 1 & 2, becuase the sounds are so mechanical and cool
-Killing Floor, since all reloads are animated perfectly so they don't look sloppy during Zed-Time. Especially the Tactical 9mm.

I sort of like how you reload the FN FAL in MW2- you grab a new magazine and use it to press the mag-release and load it in afterward. Speed reloading ftw.

I love reloads in the following games:

yeah, though one thing that bugs me, is that in most games even if you deplete the bullets, the belt is still full in the weapon (if that makes any sense)
I mean, Crysis 2 had a nice touch by making the belt fed weapons actually show the belt ending, like the one in Soldier of Fortune or Powerslave for PC (really, an m60 with a mounted grenade launcher, holy crap)

I'm sort of with you here, not the reloading animations, but the shooting

as for reloading, I'd go with the Desert Eagle and the dual Golden 1911's from The Specialists mod

Pretty much all the shotguns and revolvers in Borderlands, Especially the ones that only hold 2 shots.

I also like the Deagle reload animation in COD4. It looks so much cooler than the one in MW2.

Blue weapons that absorb blue orbs.

The satisfying click of of bolt action rifles...mmm.. gives me shivers..

They're every bit as satisfying in real life. The little pop as the bolt goes back and the shell pops out, and the clack as you slide it back home for the next shot is pretty satisfying.

I'd go on this basis for the L96- it's a great piece of design, it's my default choice for snipers. PSG1 or SVD be blowed, give me a bit of Accuracy International!

EDIT: Forgive the repeat of 'satisfying', I didn't want to say 'cool', because, as we all know, guns aren't cool, they're deadly weapons, stay in school, winners don't use drugs and don't run with scissors.

I find the sound of older guns to be especially satisfying. I've got a Nagant and when you slide that bolt home, it's amazing.

OT: I have a pistol pack for Gmod and there's one that does a really cool and complex reload. Very fun to watch and listen to. Other than that, most any machine gun reload in Bad Company is great. Especially the M60.

-LMG reloads are like "This is gonna take forever, but when I'm done, I'm gonna f*** you up!"
-Gotta love bolt actions, something about the pullback is just awesome.
-MW2 FAL was weird at first, but I came to love it.
-Shotgun reloads
-Pistol reloads, just like the fluid movement of it

-The punisher for ps2, the way he cycles dual-pump action shotguns.
