I don't know what "society" you live in but where I live females are treated better and given more options than males. I can't speak for your country but I know white males don't hold all the power here. A rich indian, black, asian, or female has way more power than a middle class white male.

Because how much money you have makes you more or less privileged as well. My point still stands. All other things being equal, a white male holds more power in western society than anyone else. A middle class white male holds more power than a middle class *insert what you'd like*.

Yes, justice should be equal to both men and women. Aileen Wuornos was just as evil as Ted Bundy. The women in the Manson Family were just as fucked up as he was. Female issues discussed in an organization dedicated to female issues isn't sexist just like minority race issues discussed at a meeting of the NAACP is not racist. When discussing violence against women, the acts in question are usually gender/power motivated. A woman who wields power over a man and abuses (mentally or physically) him is just as evil as the man who raped, abused, and terrorized me**. Violence is always wrong. Sexual assault is always wrong, no matter who commits it. Wanting to reduce hate crimes (acts committed solely based on a difference of the victim from the aggressor) isn't discriminatory. They can be done by anyone to anyone.

A group that is dedicated to female issues is not pushing for equality. If feminists are not going to fight for equality on both sides of the issue, it's just a female rights group. All I was trying to say is feminism isn't about equality if it's only fighting the issues that affect women. Never said it's sexist to complain about the pay rate, just that if they really cared about equality they would probably fight for it on both sides.

Feminism is just one of many movements aimed at helping a certain oppressed group. The civil rights movement was aimed at racial minorities- that doesn't make it racist. Feminism acting only for legal and social equality for women isn't sexist. There's a group on my campus aimed at improving the image of young men and that isn't silly. They want to get rid of the negative stereotypes associated with men in the community which I think is good. Not all guys at a college campus are drunk womanizers- it's only the vocal minority and they want to remind people of that.
