If Square remade VII now with current graphics, it would just look dated again in ten years time. I think they know this. Why bother remaking a somewhat dated game if the remake is only going to look just as dated in the future?
That didn't stop them from remaking Final Fantasy III for the DS. Of course it didn't have current gen graphics, but it had better graphics than the original release.

Have you play BRAVE FENCER MUSACHI? Or How about the BREATH OF FIRE I myself, i'm trying to go back on some classic that i miss. Ever heard of WILD GUN?

Once your done, you'll see that there were gems out there and that we don't want remake... we want new gem.
Oi please don't try the "ever hear of.." game with me when it comes to RPGs. I have a lot of gems and I have a lot of garbage.

And obviously "we" do want remakes or this wouldn't even be an issue. You don't.

Anyway, yeah you are half right, I do want a FF7 remake cause of nostalgia and FF7 wasn't even my favorite in the series, 6 holds that place but the FF fanboy phenomena didn't gain its true fervor until 7, much to my dismay, so expecting 6 to be remade is a lost cause.. and assuming they did, it would be on the DS and look like crap, like 3 and 4.
So, This tantrum is about 6? I can understand why remake that game may give you hope that they do it for 6. That said, you still act like a DS remake will be bad. I may be because you think to highly of that game. That concept should also apply to the fan of 7. Nobody will be happy with the remake, and according to your last line, you should have understood this.

I'm glad you took the time to feebly [Feebly? Tell that enough time and you may start believing it] "counter" each of my examples. Your whole point was a remake adds nothing "new" to gaming. Neither do any of those games, hell, none of those series even do (well maybe Street Fighter since they were sorta the first big 2D fighter). Halo has an over arcing story across multiple games? So did Xenosaga, .hack, Half-life. Neir's been done and it's been done better, what does it add to anything?
Halo was the first game showcasing the power of the Xbox. Also, his Multiplayers is still the best one done and a template to other developer. Right, nothing new... Street Fighter is still the reference on fighting game. It not only introduce the Turbo speed but each incarnation came with different stuff added. THe Parry system in SF3S for example as been replace here by a counter that can only absorb a hit. It also take time to perform. I didn't play Nier, but i recall that you said that it was just a 3rd person Hack and Slash. So? If it does his thing his way, why not? God of War is also a hack and slash and with a really good story (less good in the third) is the prime example that beat-them-ups could still be profitable. And tell me a game that didn't use the orb system after it. Devil May Cry was the first but never really took of like GOW did. If i wanted a game remake, i would choose Double Dragon and see what they could do with it. It would be great to see some combo move that you can perform with Jimmy or your friend online. They did the Hurricane Kick in three and i'm sure they could bring some better cooperation and tag team move than Army of Two. And that would still be better than a game a remake 100% the same with Nostalgia glasses because one day they will fall from your face and you will go here and do a nerd rage tantrum.

And ya know what? I really don't care if it doesn't add anything. Since the releases lately have been so foul, I'm replaying old games anyway. A PS2/3 quality remake of an old FF, Secret of Mana (or one of its sequels that didn't make it state side), Romancing Saga series, or Xenogears, etc, with some new bits to play with would thrill most older RPG fans and would likely make SE a boatload of EASY money. I don't care if its the same game with fresh paint. I'd much rather shell out $50 for a prettier version of a game I already love than $50 for another "new gem" that not only brings nothing "new" but just sucks on its own merits.
Yeah, the easy money that was Final Fantasy 13 was so much better. Remember that most return their copy use. That mean that any gamer can now enter a Gamestop, or EB GAMES and get a use copy for half the price. And that's money SE will never see. If I'm correct (which sadly i am mostly on that sort of thing) there will be another mass return of FF7 the remake on the self. That easy money won't turn the profit you would like to believe and I guess SE pick that up by now.

Lastly, when you say games you "missed" I assume you mean you weren't born yet.
No, i was there for Super Mario Bros... I miss it because i wasn't a RPG fan at the time. I use to say: What dumbass would wait in line to shoot? You Youngster should also learn some proper manner.

30-40 years? Okay, the only reason FFXIII took 3-4 years was because you started on the PS2, and then moved to a system where you had no experience. If you had experience on the PS3 and started there, it probably would've taken half as long.

Also, 10 times as long is simply hyperbole. I wouldn't say FFVII is 10 times larger than FFXIII on any scale.

Not that I even necessarily want a FFVII remake, I'd much rather then work on KH3, Versus XIII, or, God forbid, a new IP. Still, I'm sick of them being total teases with this remake. Within a few days they'll explain how this statement really means that they should get working on it sooner because it take so long or some shit.
God Forbid? You mean you like a one trick pony?
I was being sarcastic in that Squeenix doesn't seem to like pulling out IPs every so often. Sure, they have some now and then, but they focus a lot more on sequels.

I guess a lot of studios are like that, but still.
You Fail

The internet can't comprehend sarcasm. It's all in the tone of voice. But i guess if you blew it so much out of proportion... it would be easier. Here, I made a example for you.

Yeah! They should really remake FF7. And they should do it for other stuff to. Hell, they could remake Michael Jackson's Thriller, He's about done right now. You could dig him up and remake it. Come on everybody, let's remake shit!!!!!
BTW: Can i az ff7 plise Squar Inix?

(That a good example of sarcasm, and it's translate well into post too.)

Square enix is trying to insult fans by assuming were all stupid. 40 years? Lol the dialogs already done the story is done the concepts are done the ideas are done the only thing that needs to be done is graphics voice acting and possibly an updated music score. This guy is just pist because people like ffvii better than his ffxiii. Is square going to skip a business opportunity?

I wouldn't buy Final Fantasy 7 again just because it has voice acting and better graphics. If I would want to play FF7 again it would be for nostalgia at which case I can just download FF7 off the Playstation Store. Making it look modern would take away the nostalgic factor and buying it for the story and game-play would me more expensive then the PSOne Classics version.

If they keep the same combat, a lot of people wouldn't buy it because they hate Turn Based Combat; if they make it an action game, the FF7 fans would be pissed off because it wouldn't be FF7; if they made it into a FPS then the fans wouldn't buy it and the people who love FPS usually hate Final Fantasy so they wouldn't buy it either, so what would be the point? I think them making this remake would be stupid.

Sounds like a way to try to get people off the subject, as well they should because remaking FFVII would be a monumental mistake. How many ways can they say "No"?

That doesn't make that claim make any more sense though.

That does sound a bit unrealistic.

They already have a story entirely mapped out and plenty of artwork references. Even if they had to remake the models, they could maintain the old-school style of combat and be greeted with nothing but nostalgic cheer.

Maybe they meant it took 3-4 years to make a piece of crap game with unlikable characters, an awkward and somehow even MORE boring combat system than the old text/turn based system, and a new and uninteresting world to play it in.

But FFVII has such a rabid fanbase, they'd have to actually put effort into it. The fans would want every single moment recreated, every single scrap of world laid out and perfect. Tough call.

Of course, they could put out a call for FFVII fans to come work on the project. No doubt some of them would gladly work for reduced wages to be on such a title and thus you could hire more. Then that poor single 40 year old man wouldn't have to spend the rest of his life on it.

In 40 years, I can learn the necessary skills AND use them to make one hell of a beautiful and well-thought out game, with superb gameplay and interesting narrative smoothly meshed with the game mechanics and rules.

And with no f***ing cutscenes nor quick time events.

Not because I'm particularly talented, but because I would have FORTY YEARS to make it.

And this guy comes up and says that one of the most crazy rich videogame companies on this planet, with the kind of technological achivements humanity has conquered in digital information, would take as long to produce a remake, as in, a rehash of a already constructed product???

Jaysus Chroyst, as far as imbecile statements go, this one deserves to be in the Guinness Books.

If they don't want to make it, they would be better off saying so instead of looking completely idiotic in front of the specialized media.

You'll be lucky if the mods don't correct you with a suspension.
So would you, are you trying to instigate a flame war?

Heresy wasn't wrong - rude or not. John trash talked a whole genre and the people who liked said genre, not to mention the developers. Some people are tired of baseless arguments against genres they like and would like to defend their choice of entertainment.

Also - John was as rude as his opponent, if not even ruder. In fact John insulted YOU. Get off your high horse.

Why does everyone love FFVII so much? Honestly, if Atlus remade any Persona game or anything for that matter they would be rich.

1.) Old thread is old, old post is old.
2.) How the HELL would what I said instigate a flame war? Seriously, that makes no sense at all
3.) Heresy attacked him completely unprovoked and I am more inclined to condemn the person who is an asshole out of nowhere and starts a fight than the person who was right to be angry, but took it too far.
4.) John did not insult me anywhere
5.) I like shooters, but John didn't attack anyone personally

Lastly, whether Heresy is wrong or not is irrelevant (he was probably right) saying things like this:

Finally, apologize to anyone who might have actually had their opinion changed by reading your post. Inform them that you are entirely wrong you apologize for misleading them, even as poorly as you did.

Is about as smug, arrogant, and insulting as you can get, I don't tolerate that crap whether it's directed at me or not, I can tell you're new here, so let me help you get something straight.

1.) Mods might take action if you groundlessly initiate personal attacks against other members
2.) Mods are not going to take action (for example, against my post) for defending people who have been attacked, and doing so without any sort of insult or vulgarity in any way.

I don't know who you are, but you could probably be contributing valuable opinions to relevant topics rather than scanning four month old arguments between strangers.

Before you try to tell me you're not new based on join date, let me tell you that no matter when you joined, you only have 200 posts worth of experience on these forums, I think it's idiotic to judge opinions based on post count, and I'm not doing this here, my numbered reasons above are why I disagree with your point, I'm only using the post count as a reason to offer you advice above.

Anyway, you probably think I'm a total dick right now, but that's not my intention, I'm just really sick of people telling me off for defending those who are groundlessly attacked, especially when I'm not rude doing it.

Damn, people think ANYTHING will start a flamewar nowadays.....

Now this is coming from someone who played and enjoyed the game, but why would people want a remake? The game is already available for download on the PSN. So making a PS3 remake for FF7 would be kind of redundant and pointless.
