The longer they make people wait, the more likely that people will lose interest. Then Square will have cheated itself out of millions upon millions of dollars. I'm already beginning to lose interest in a remake, and FFVII has long been one of my all time favorite games. Ridiculous quotes like this from Square just make me lose respect for the company.
How the fuck is it ridiculous? Someone asked them
yet again about a VII remake, and they said
once again that it's not happening. They should only have had to say that once. If people keep asking, they're going to keep giving the same answer. They're not making people wait, because
it's not happening! You're losing interest in something which will never be, for fuck sake.
I seem to be in the minority here, in that I fully support Squenix's decision. FFVII was a fucking massive game for it's time, and to render everything to today's graphics standards, hire enough voice actors to record all the lines for all the npcs, re-record the entire soundtrack (without Nobuo Uematsu!)... it's a headache that the folk at Square don't need, especially for a game that's
already been out for over ten years! All that's happening here is the guys at Square are making offhand comments, and everyone is reading far too much into them. "OMG He said it would take 40 years to make a 10 year old game, THAT MEANS ALL NEW GAMES ARE SHIT!!!!1!!!"
FFVII fans need to get over their goddamned sense of entitlement. Stop asking for a remake, and Square will stop talking about it.
