ugh.. FF stopped being fun after FF VII. Now it feels more like a job to play. Now that i think about it, its like a console version of WoW.

Just call it intermissions as do you whine when adds are on when watching a movie then just as getting to good bit adds come on? Only happen about 4 times 4 times in a 72+ hour game, and they always swap at end of a critical section what is usually time get up and get a drink then carry on. Square Enix a lot of practice with multiple disks so I doubt will screw up immersion.

Saying that no plans to get the game hate jrpg's as are just interactive movies what afraid the player might cramp its style and remove all the cool bits from the users hands leaving them to fight measly foes not worth the cool finishing moves of the boss battles, or weakening the bosses off the for the highly stylish finishing move. And seen movies with better plots half the time anyway ;)

I will donate to a fund if The Escapist will force Yahtzee to play this game
He might be based in Australia, but we're in the US, and the Constitution prohibits cruel and unusual punishment.

:p
But what if let's say there was no proof of the escapist actually having anything to do with Tying Yahtzee to a chair? It would be worth it.
If he was tied to a chair how would he play it?
You mean watch it?

I just hope they keep the 360 version as close to the PS3 version as possible, and make it a multi-disc game, rather then dumbing down to a single disc.

If a software entity like Skynet ever becomes reality it will probably have a birth scream to rival that of Slaanesh at the moment of it's sentience emerging due to the amount of unwarranted fanboy stupidity it will encounter at near light speed as it absorbs the entire internet. Each and every nuke that falls on a major city will be because of barely literate twelve year olds who are unable to accept that more than one console exists.

C'est la vie. Not that much of an issue, really. If they reduce graphics, no real biggie - I'm so used to my greys having too much colour might kill me anyway, or extra disks, I'm sure I'll live.

Although, the Xbox's smaller disks seem to mainly fail it in the realm of JRPGs or similar - I swear with that much story telling MGS4 counts - and frankly that's really not what the core demographic of the Xbox is interested in, let's be honest. If the console I got for action games gets the lengthier JRPGs too, I'm grateful, even if they are less pretty or convenient than the PS3.

Also, I find it amusing that people heap scorn on the continuing fascination with graphics, yet the moment something like this happens the graphics are suddenly the most important thing in the universe.

Can anyone confirm if it's a second disc they packaged with Final Fantasy: Advent Children Complete or is it included on the same disc? If it's seperate disc I wouldn't be surprised if they said "bugger all" to compressing it at all, hense the larger then average file size.

I never really minded it, but once every 10 hours was not always the case. Often times some of the old multiple disk RPGs that weren't a straight linear railroad to a conclusion, would break up their content into areas. So moving from one zone to another would force a disc change as would going back to where you just were.

I think Square needs to fire their compressionist, because there is no excuse for having video files that big unless there is 30+ minutes of video in the demo.

If the Xbox gets a crappier version, HAVE A FARKIN CRY. It's just the start of it, being that the PS3 is a superior machine and Blu-ray is a superior medium. You're gonna see more of this to come so get used to it.
Final Fantasy has a huge amount of cut-scenes, locations etc... from what you've just read you can tell this will be one of the biggest games ever released in terms of sheers amount of data, so to honestly claim "you're gonna see more of this" is idiotic, how many more multi - platform games do you think will have this sheer amount of content this gen...?
You could be onto something there...

My god, if the freaking demo is this big...it could require multiple blu-ray discs...I fear for my fellow Final Fantasy lovers playing on the 360...

Exactly (both on the disk situation and Lost Odyssey) - people are just moaning because they are either:

- PS3 fanboys who use this an an opportunity to insult the 360.
- Lazy people, who seriously think changing a disk every 10 hours is a serious issue.
- Sheep - you know, the people who claim its a bad idea because said groups make up the majority.
Look, the reason why people complain about changing and having multiple disks is that we've already grown, technologically, past that phase.

I'll agree with you somewhat that it's just 10 or so seconds of time wasted, but maybe that's 10 seconds to many? Why do I have to give up my play time just because the developer was too lazy to compress enough or take out some debatable unnecessary things? I shouldn't have to get out of my enjoyment of something just because I have to do an admittedly minuscule thing that shouldn't be there in the first place.

Imagine during a movie, you're watching the movie and halfway through it stops and the film operator has to look for the next part of it, put it in, then continue on taking at most 1 minute to switch. What the hell is that? I understand that that was probably the case when movies were just starting, but there is no reason for that now as we've gone past that technological barrier. Everyone would be thinking "What the hell? They couldn't just cut some scenes out to fit on one role of film?" and the ratings would go down. You shouldn't have to lose even partial enjoyment because the makers of the movie too ambitious with their film. Sure, they've put a lot of work into it, and that's great, but if it's that much then make a sequel with those scenes.

Games have gone past the barrier of having multiple disks, or at least they should have as Lost Odyssey and others have proved otherwise. Now, I get it, games are very different from movies in that they can utilize the disk space much more effectively by putting a bunch of content in there. That's why I am willing to accept a game having 2 disks, and at a very far stretch 3, but 4 is just overkill I think.

It's really the principle of the matter, it's a minor inconvenience that really shouldn't be there in the first place. Do you really want to have to switch disks? Of course not, nobody wants to switch in between disks just to continue a game. Nobody wants to get up, open the disk tray, take out the disk, put in the new one, close it, and start playing again. Some people don't mind and they live on. Some people absolutely hate it and say "What the hell, I'm your customer, why are you doing this to me?".

I'm willing to say, "Okay, it's not that bad but it's still pretty stupid" because as long as new format comes out with more space, developers are going to want to maximize their content, but multi-disking shouldn't be an issue to begin with. It doesn't help that matter that MGS4 even mocked the idea of having a disc 2 (I literally panicked when that scene happened XD).

One thing I don't like about switching disks, though, is the broadening silence of it after you stop playing. Like, after a huge action scene it says "Please insert disk two" and it's just silence after that. You open the disk tray and hear it go out, clank the disk out, pop the case open, clank the other disk in, close the tray......and it's all silence during that period. It completely kills the mood of the game with just..............silence. That's just a weird thing I've noticed about it anyway, and now I'm ranting, so sorry.

EDIT: And wow, I just realized how much I posted. I'm in a ranty mood today, eh?

Well provided the PS3 version is not scaled down, Square has just given me enough reason to buy a PS3. I should congratulate them.

I hate disk changes
Good for you. You must also hate pressing the ON button, or turning on a controller...if you haven't got the patience to change a disk every 10 hours of gameplay, why bother playing a JRPG?
Yes pushing one button compared to...

Lets see here and remember I can make EVERYTHING seem long.

disk change needed
putting controller down
throwing blankets off body
standing up
walking to the tv
leaning over
opening console game tray
grabing game case
putting disc inside the case
taking the next disk out
putting that disk in
shutting the console case
walking back to the bed
lying down
covering self with blankets
picking up controller.

See thats 16 steps! OR, I could just play the whole game through on one disk... like I have since the PS2 era... yeah.

EDIT: Also lets add into the fact how much of a damn story breaker it is "getting close, getting close, getting close, PLEASE CHANGE TO DISK 3, FUCK YOU GAME!" (Probably) not likely to happen, but hey. Ya never ever know.
you might be the laziest person i have ever seen

I have no problems with disc changes. I've actually decided I'm vaguely interested in this game.
