Hopefully we'll see this get translated quickly and then done by Graham and Paul. Hey Unskippable only uses the openings, so a demo should be fine.
Yeah, but opening cutscenes in final fantasy are rather....lengthy. I don't know about any of you, but after 3 hours of Unskippable I might be unable to turn off the little narrating voices in my head ever again.
You can find the intro on Youtube. It's actually only about 4~6 minutes long and Highly Riffable. *glee*
If they actually ever do riff this game, I might have to skip Unskippable (c wut i did thar?) because I'm trying to stay pure. I've had every final fantasy spoiled for me beforehand so I'm hoping that I can actually play this one and see what it's like not knowing what is going to happen.
Hrmm I don't really see how the intro spoils the game anymore then a screenshot or trailer would, but that's fine. Actually, come to think of it, I did something like that with Digital Devil Saga. So I do understand.
Well by watching the opening cutscene I'd be seeing the opening cut scene before the game was released. It's a small gripe but I've always wanted to experience a good Final Fantasy in its entirety with little prior knowledge. From what I've seen, this game looks like the second coming of VII (no h8ing plz) so I'd like to enjoy it thoroughly.
Not to spoil anything for you, but there are certain characters that may disappoint you. At least I was. Just be cautious.

Why is that? I intended to purchase a PS3 eventually once it had more of the games I liked, now it will. Although I will avoid that 'upgraded' model that does not play PS2 games. And Sony wonders why people are not rushing to buy their console...
To my knowledge, none of the current PS3s out still have backwards compatability. This was in a PS3 magazine my brother showed me a while back, I have no idea if the info is still valid. However, the magazine said that all the backwards compatible ones were only on Ebay, and for ridiculous prices(900$ and up) too. So you might want to see if my info is valid or not, I certainly will have to check it out before getting myself a PS3. Don't chuck your PS2 just yet is all :D

As for the topic: damn, my old post seems to have been lost in the sea of the interwebz. To capture the essence of what I said: it'll wind up being multidisc on the 360, but who cares? The quality of the game will remain the same, Square wouldn't dare screw anyone on that. The worst that'll happen to anyone is that the 360 owners will have to get up once in a while for a disc change.

OH MY GOD MY LEGS ARE ON FIRE!!! IS THIS PHYSICAL EXERTION? OH THE HUMANITY!!!

....Really now. People are making WAY too big a deal out of the multidisc thing.

That's insane. Maybe the 360 version won't be in High-Definition?
At this rate it will probably be in XKCD Definition.

Actually, that would be awesome.
XKCD Definition!! For a FF game?! lolololol, insta-awesome!

If that is the case, Sony can likely take their system to stuff it. I have no desire to by inferior products, although if they ever get a decent line up of games I may one day consider it and that would only be when I had money to basically throw away. Thanks for the tip though, I'll have to look into it because I find it ridiculous Sony decided this was a good idea.

Anyhow, if FFXIII has multiple discs for the 360 version, that works fine by me. I am mostly concerned with a graphic reduction, which I find far more likely to be the scenario.

Like I said, no idea if the info is still valid. I'm just saying to check before purchasing.. or you might end up with buyer's remorse.

I don't think that any quality reduction will occur, and even if it does, it will likely be insignificant.

He might be based in Australia, but we're in the US, and the Constitution prohibits cruel and unusual punishment.

:p
Please, Australia is a country based on convicts. It screams cruel and unusual punishment :p

I have to say, she has a point :D

As it is though, Yahtzee may well decide to review it anyway just because of the hype (unlikely, I know, but still possible). After all, he's reviewed JRPG's before (Okay, TWEWY, but as I recall he didn't outright hate it...).

If you mean the black guy, then I've seen him...yeah I don't know how long I can look at that awful hair. The girls look awesome but I hate some of the names (lightning? snow?).
Yeah... that guy... *sigh* I'm guessing he'll be the Zell of the game. His pet makes him that much worse too. Like he's a rejected Bleach character (and if you've seen that show then you'd know a character would have to be unfathomably bad to be rejected from it. Haha)

This is why I laughed when I heard that they were going to do a release for the 360. I just don't think it'll be worth the time and effort for Microsoft to chase this up.. but I guess we can still pat them on the back for trying.

um, isn't the 360 still HD-DVD capable? i dimly remember that being one of the selling points before that format lost the war.
That was an attatchment.
The XBOX Pro and Elite are both HD capable. HD-DVD's, i'm not sure but I think so.

Is a long long line of Weather names FF characters have used since... 6 at least (if we count the Woolsley translation which I do)

Not to mention these characters are specifically stated to be using code names, hence lightning, Snow etc. are not the characters real names, hence the generic and forgettable if Cringe worthy names actually make a bit of sense.

As for the names

Terra
Cloud
Squall
Tidus (Sun)
Sora
Lightning

Actually if Tetsuya Nomura designed this character they more than likely relate to the weather.

I'm not saying the names are LESS Cringeworthy, but they make more sense when you realize they aren't the real names.
Don't forget BUTZ! Bahahaha.

I don't know what to think of this... from what I've read, it looks amazing. But I keep reminding myself that I don't like JRPGS... this article has brought my attention to this game. Nicely done Square.

Well, I was going to try the demo to see if I wanted to get the game...guess that idea's out the window unless I want to cripple my internet connection for a week, or OXM puts it on one of their demo disks.
or OXM includes another disc specifically designed for FF13

You know reading this topic it's easy to spot people going by word of mouth and people who have actually played any of the games. Same with any given MGS topic.
Gee...the constant referencing to 7 wasn't a dead give away? lol
