I don't care if it is seven disks. Xbox 360 still gets Final Fantasy 13. Plus the more disks means more gameplay.
I see a flaw with your logic. More discs doesen't necessarily mean more gameplay. More discs = More discs. Thus, they cannot fit as much onto an Xbox disc. They will both have the same amount of gameplay, just one console will have it stretched onto more discs, assuming the PS3 has less.
That's not what he means - if the game were to come on seven discs it would be longer than if it could fit on three. IE, the more discs (DVDs) they are forced to use for the 360 version, the bigger the game is and by extension the longer it is.
But more discs does not mean more gameplay. Unless they come as an added bonus.
It merely means more discs. Say I have a title on PC, and it's a single disc. Let's also pretend steam is non-existent. The title is then ported to the Xbox and PS3. Now the console versions have more discs. That doesen't mean that the Console versions are LONGER per-se, just the fact that they have more discs.
You're still misunderstanding:

You are looking at it from the perspective that just because it takes up more discs on Xbox 360 doesn't mean it has more content than PS3. That is correct and I am not arguing.

My point is this:

Forget first that FF13 is multi platform and consider only the 360 version. Now consider FF7 (playstation version). It came on 3 discs. If it had come on 1 disc it would have been shorter. Why? Because there is no way the game then would have fit on one disc - to get it that small there would have been cuts the game as we know it.
The xbox version of FF13 will take up a certain amount of disc space. What I'm saying is had the space been smaller or larger, the game would have been shorter or longer because the extra space must have gone to or come from somewhere, and the only place the could be is gameplay (ignoring coding and compression, because that is presumably as efficient as it can be).

Please tell me I have made that comprehensible because I retyped it about 3 times to try to make sense, it's just so hard to explain things like this if you're not face-to-face.

Bah, I'm against multiple disks, we should have been past that technological barrier ages ago.

I can semi-understand 2 disks sometimes it's hard to compress things, 3 and 4 however is stretching it. I don't give a crap about the "old" games like MGS and FFVII, we're not in those times anymore. Everything should be in one nice and neat little package, ease of use, not breaking the flow of the game, ect...

Usually, with most games coming out nowadays, primarily on PC, one or two is to install and then there is the actual game disk of it, so those don't exactly "count" as multi-disk games. Those I can understand, their just installing the game or updating it or whatever.

Ah, now I see what you mean. Thanks for putting that into terms I can understand.
Forgive me for that, a little slow today :D

Well, at least we'll know it's a long game instead of short thing. However, I do hope it's not 2 discs with story and the 3rd disk is final boss and sidequests like 7,8 and 9..

Hey no worries, I'm just glad that I'm not going crazy. Even I didn't understand the first couple of explanations I tried to make, so much so I almost thought I was wrong.

It's also really hard to do something like that without sounding condescending or insulting, so I hope it didn't come across that way. Anyway, time to resume drooling over FF13...

drool...

Oh, of course not! :D
It sounded intelligent, well-mannered and informative, much like a good rebuttal should sound.
And as for the drooling, I may have to join in on that. Everything after X really let me down, and it would be nice to have another great Final Fantasy. I just hope Square delivers the goods.

No, not MULTIPLE DISKS! That's such a big fucking deal! It could possibly destroy the game as we know it. God save us all if we have to get off the couch after 30 hours of play time.

I honestly don't care so long as the game is good. It's the only thing that makes sense. And holy crap this game must be massive. FF7 came on three disks, FF8 came on four. How many years later and we have multiple disks again. The game must be massive.

It had better fill up 3 discs. I mean, if you are going to muck about with putting a game on multiple discs, don't do it as a gimmick.
Wel it's odviously because the disks won't fit it seeing as the PS3 version is going to have 1 and it's disks hold more space so it's not really 3 disks in length it's just 3 disks in size.

The image of the fair lady is the first thing that got me interested in this game. I'm a man of simple pleasures.

Man I still have my 5-disc FF VIII, I wonder how much that's worth now.

I'm so sick of sony make blu disc's. in fact tagging an extra £100 on the price tag for a blu ray player was a shite idea! Bluray DVD's and DVD's that are played in HD have NO noticable difference i have 3 blu ray movies, on a 30 inch HD tv, there is NO difference between them and an HD movie.

I guess if i get this game i'll get it on PS3, 3 discs is just too much.
Well not for you, you don't have 1080p. Thats the only time you see the amazing quality of blue ray.
If i didn't have 1080p, then my HD tv would be pretty shite, right? I do so visualy i stick by what i said. but having watched a blu ray movie at a friends last night i have noticed something that's better about bluray DVD's. they can fit up to 3 movies on one disc, also i must admit that the sound quality was better. However I didn't want these things i certainly don't need them so why did sony think it was a good idea to pack this in with my PS3? could they not have built 2 models 1 with and 1 without? cheaper price = more sales. Need to build less blu ray units = lower production costs.

Can any one tell me the release date for FFXIII? (please and thank you)
