A rumor like a leaf in the wind?

Countdown to Whedon skewering that leaf like a reaver: 3 ... 2 ... 1 ...

I'd love for this to happen, and for it to be as good, or even surpass, the first season, but the chances of it happening are slim. And lets face it, if it's anything less than perfect people will be raging for years.

Give it up guys. It was fun but it wasn't meant to last even if it hadn't been cancelled. This isn't your generation's Star Trek, it's just an above average TV show that was only sweet for its brevity. None of you would be as big and rabid of fans as you are if this had lasted 5 seasons, James Marsters was brought in to replace someone, Simon turned out to be gay, and River is a floating head on a backscreen sending psychic visions to Wash.

LET. IT. GO.

To those of you who say that Firefly's brevity is the only reason people liked it, if the quality of those episodes was maintained, then people still would have liked it. Yeah, they won't ALL be that good, some will be worse, but some will likely be better. I think that a lot of people liked all of the setup and potential that the show had, exploring Shepard's past, tension between Mal and Inara, Kaylee and Simon, River just in general, Mal's hatred for the alliance. It had the potential to be an interesting multifaceted story, had a well told beginning, and was shut down. To assume that the quality would drop and the story would become nonsensical just because the show continued is unreasonable and is a bit of an insult for the writers.

As much as I would love to see the good version of Firefly, the one that wasn't created piecemeal episode by episode, everyone involved with it have moved on to other projects and probably too busy to start it up again. Nathan Fillion does well enough on Castle. Gina Torres, Adam Baldwin, and Summer Glau are busy enough to probably prevent a new series from happening. Everyone else gets plenty of work and are too old to play the roles on that show anymore.

Sorry, but being shown out of order was not the problem. Not having a focus from episode 1 was. If Joss Whedon spent more time fleshing out that universe, something he should have done regardless of commitment from the network, it would have worked. If he had a clearer idea of the final episode and built towards it from episode 1, it would have been better. Had he done more than relied on a clever concept and cutesy poo dialog to carry the story, the show would have lasted longer than 10 aired episodes.

Go ahead, please explain to me for the hundredth time why I'm wrong. Apparently, I'm not tired of hearing that. If you do, please don't tell me to see the series again. I've seen it enough times to get to this understanding.

I'm sure it will not happen, but I would absolutely watch every single episode if it did.

Would be nice, but firefly is over.
Yup. People need to just get over it--not the show, but the idea of a series. It was a long time ago. It's done. Finished. End of. No more. Ever.
*Cough* Half Life Episode 3 *Cough*

OT, I've never seen Firefly, though, it's on the list of reasons to get Netflix
I sounds to me like something that may come back, and tick the ever living fanboyism out of all the diehard fans.
See Duke Nukham Forever for an example.

I liked Firefly a lot. In fact, it's one of my favorite shows, and the fact that Fox canceled it is almost criminal.

Yet, I don't want to see any reboots or continuations. I don't understand Browncoat's obsession with this show. It was good, it had its run, and it was canceled. I've long since moved on, and it'd be better for everyone if they did the same. I'm not saying totally forget the fun times, but let's just please stop torturing ourselves over Firefly.

Joss Whedon is way too brilliant to let something like that happen. If he really did a reboot, it would be good. But on the other hand, its not going to happen. I just think they're having way too much fun stirring up the fanboys (me being one of them)

I'm torn between wanting this and not wanting it. I'm a diehard Firefly fan, but I'm one of those that thinks it should be left alone.

Oh how I wish this were true...
Firefly was so... friggin... excellent. I rewatch it every now and then, and it still holds up, even after a friggin decade. That can't be said for many TV series(with some extremely notable exceptions, mind you), but it can be said for Firefly(and prettymuch everything else Whedon has made, that I've seen, so that's prettymuch everything except Dollhouse and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, both of which I really should get around to watching in the near future).

And as mentioned before, given, that Joss Whedon himself would be at the helm, in all likelyhood it wouldn't suck, if it indeed became a thing once again. So cheers for that.

I don't know about the rest but I do know that Nathan Fillion has publicly said he'd drop Castle to be in Firefly again.

As for the idea, I have mixed feelings. I would really love it if they begin to make Firefly again, to start from where they left off but if it was a reboot, I'd watch it.

I think with the success of The Avengers Whedon can pretty much get a blank cheque from anyone he wants to make whatever he wants. Im with the mixed feelings crowd, as Id watch any new Firefly in a heartbeat, but with all the actors 10 years older, will the formula still hold up, and will the plot suffer in any way because of it?

So a reboot...only the original cast is older-looking because, you know, time.

I COULD see Zac Efron as Simon...but a new cast would just kill the charm of the original one. I say just let it die. Look at all the videogame franchises that just refused to die and suffered for it (*coughJakandDaxtercough*). Let's learn from that.

Ugh. Do we have to do this every time Joss Whedon says so much as "Malcolm Reynolds"? Every few months there's another stir because someone from Firefly farted or something. All it does is get everyone's hopes up for nothing. Yet every time, articles and discussions pop up all over the internet.

I loved Firefly of course but I am skeptical this will ever happen. As long as Mal is back they can replace everyone else.
I disagree. The show worked because everyone worked well. You could replace any one actor or character (with someone competent), and still have the same basic charm. Mal didn't make the show any more than Jayne or Wash did, he just had more one-liners.

I would definitely watch a reboot of Firefly. I also wish it would happen. But I'm not going to get excited over rumors. I want solid evidence before I flip out and go all fanboy. I wouldn't be too disappointed if these rumors came to nothing, Firefly is still great and can remain a standard of space opera for other series to aspire to even if they don't continue it.

He specifically mentoned that it started with a conversation between the only two characters who are dead.

He said Zac Effron would be cast as Simon, referencing how Effron once played a young Simon.

He was JOKING.
