How weird. I just said to my friend that I hadn't heard anything on the new Fallout in a while and then this pops up.

*Turns to friend, Hey I havn't heard anything on Portal 2 in a while 0_o

Thanks for letting us know all this. It sounds like this is going to turn out to be a good game, however I must refrain from boarding the hype train to destination disappointment. Not after the MW2 incident.

Pure shenanigans! :D

I wonder if wee get to meet the Chosen one, son, that will be epic.

Just happy to see that they seems to have taken some of the ideas from some of the really good player-created mods and decided to use them. And if it's GECK compatible that would be even more awesome.

This sounds amazing. I hate hyping games but I don't think I'll be able to resist with this one. I love the original fallouts to death and even Fallout 3 to a point. Seriously can't wait.

Glad to hear of Fallouts successor. But I hope they do thorough error/bug-checking, because my copy of Fallout 3 was fucking horrendous.
Same with me.

When I need to download 2 community made patches to get the game to run properly, someone's not doing their job.

OT: Hopefully it has the same mod support as Falllout 3. If it does, its a definite buy from me.

I hope they bring the Hubologists back.

Edit: That and the Pancor Jackhammer. I miss that old over powered fully automatic shotgun.

They could have a cartoon spoof on the hubologists and have a hobologist voice actor quit his job with the cartoon!
=D
And they could be at war with a group of masked wearing fighters calling themselves "The Unregistered Users"

Good Gravy! It look's like this year is going to make up for the 2009s sub-par releases. Red Dead Redemption, New Vegas, and Portal 2 are already lookin' pretty awesome.

'first' 'look'?
OXM reported on this months ago, and I doubt they were the first either.
Anyway, it looks great.

Weeellllll, shoot. Now I'm urk'd right off. I had originally written this game off; considering after I beat FO3 I put it down and went back to playing FO1&2 and Oblivion. However, this has now swayed me - quite strongly. Perhaps I will have to give New Vegas a look after all.

Sounds awesome, we'll have to see what happens when it's released. I'm hoping the original writers put together a much better (and more depraved) plot and spinoff storylines.

As cool as Fallout 3 was, I for one did not think they got the vibe quite right. But that would require a long dissertation that would get well off topic.

I will also say that I think the above article is a bit too quick to dismiss "Isometric turn based gameplay" as being a bad, or "antiquidated" thing. Honestly I think it works very well for RPGs, and is one of those systems that is so perfect for what it sets out to do, that there is no reason to abandon it. Newer or "more technologically advanced" does not nessicatly equate to better.

I would point out that there are plenty of SRPGs still being made out there, and while a lot of kids scream at them for being too "retro" and not having all kinds of flashy 3d and real time FX, never mind the most important aspect: it's about management and your mind, not how fast YOU can twitch and react. Series like Disgaea and Final Fantasy Tactics continued to have respectable followings, and in that "genere" of games I think you see some potential in how the turn based combat (if not the playstyle itself) could be made to work with a new generation isometric Fallout game.

I really look forward to New Vegas, and improvements on the Fallout 3 engine. Great game. However I am one of those that still hopes we will eventually see another Fallout RPG as opposed to action/RPG. I think there is enough of a fanbase to make it worthwhile.

We'll see what happens, for the moment let's just hope that New Vegas makes it before Christmas. With the November release date I keep hearing, I am half expecting it to get pushed up into next year some time. :/

Sounds badass. I think I'll get it. Oh, and does anyone know what year it takes place in?

Fallout: New Vegas is the end-mark for my current videogame fasting, so there really isn't any more new info that could make me want it more. Any good recapitulation is, however, deliciously orgasm-inducing.

Two words: Fucking sweet!

This will be one game I will actually buy at launch. I can't remember the last time I did that. Left 4 Dead 2 was pretty close, but I still got that a week after release.

I hope they keep the in-game radio. That was one of my favorite aspects of Fallout 3.
While I haven't heard anything concrete about a radio in F:NV, I highly doubt they won't put it back in. They've announced that, seeing as it's set in New Vegas, the music is going to be more focused around Vegas lounge club-type music and jazz standards, the sort of stuff Frank Sinatra was pumping out at the time. The actual teaser trailer features Blue Moon by Frank Sinatra.

Yes! Except I hope they have a few more songs. I could play FO3 for a half an hour and hear the same song twice.
There's a mod to fix that (an extra 100 songs, and in the right style), and it also adds commercials. While that doesn't sound particularly enticing, it's more awesome when you realise they're actually ads from the 50's.

I never considered the Escapist to be a major enough news site to get an exclusive scoop like this, GRATS!
