Hell no, I don't dislike cosplay. Sure, there are horrid examples of cosplay gone wrong, but some very good ones too. Even when they're not hot, they can be very awesome.

And a guy in a stormtrooper suit always brings a smile to my face. Man, I gotta get one myself.

I find it so annoying when people say something along the lines of, "They spend waaay too much time on X." Not only is it inevitably hypocrisy, but if they're being creative and enjoying themselves, how on Earth can a hobby like cosplaying be something bad and pathetic?
I get the, "Bad community," argument, though. Haven't experienced the cosplay world firsthand, but I can't blame someone for not liking something with unpleasant people involved.

Also, I do find lots of cosplay creepy. Don't know why, but I was just in Japan and found that I have an irrational fear of maids in particular. Can't figure out for the life of me why.

Cosplay's problem is the total lack of middle ground. Cosplay is either done stunningly well or eye-rapingly awful.

I personally find the good far outweighs the bad. Blizzcon's costume contests usually show a few example of how to do it really well.

DO YOU SEE WHAT FOUL WRATH YOU HAVE BROUGHT UPON US COSTUMED PLAY, DO YOU?! YOU HAVE DAMNED US ALL!

Okay, Okay, I'm joking - I don't have an issue with it. At all.
Personally, if you want to show devotion to a show/manga by dressing up like a character from it, go right ahead.

I think people find an issue with it because they feel it's 'weird' or 'strange.'

When, in all actuality, it's pretty much Halloween - minus scaring the hell out of infants and all of the candy.
[HEADING=2]Gaaaah! MY EYES![/HEADING]
But you've got a point there, I don't have an issue with it either, and it is pretty much Halloween too.

Quite possibly the best video i've seen i the past month.
Cool that people try stuff like that.

I was referring to the one I saw in real life. It would really surprise me if that one turned out to be straight.

I only hate it when it's done so horrible wrong.

Like the skinny Japanese girl who dressed up as a fat Italian plumber.
... Doesn't sound too bad to me.

I just dislike seeing unattractive cosplay, that's all. (course its fine if its fitting, or somewhat anyway, I really don't wanna see a Family Guy Meg)

Naaah I don't hate cosplaying I quite like going in my real darth vader costume or dress up as Alex Louis armstrong....BECAUSE I CAN.
But the community is quite annoying most of them on my age are horribly done and the community don't get me started there.

Its right up there with FanFiction as something mainly done by really really REALLY creepy and alinenated anime/Twilight/who the fuck knows fangirls/people who want to sleep with fangirls/ mental patients/ perverts.

I mean c'mon people, it's NEVER been cool to cosplay (im looking at YOU trekies). It's that setp beyond dressing up that makes normal human being's balls tighten and mouth go dry with how sheer uncomfortable the whole thing is.

It's just one step above Fury in the scale on "Holy jesus fuck there people exist?!!!" It's like the worst excesses of the internet incarnate. Keep it the fuck at home people.
I'm sorry... What? Most of the people I know who cosplay are really cool people. They just like making outfits and dressing up.

Besides, have you ever been at a convention? Most of the people who are slightly too fanatic about a series tend to be rather sweet, they've just not learned social interaction all that well. Sure, some of them may be creepers, but it's certainly not the majority.

I don't do video game or anime characters (yet) but surely it is just a fancy dress party? I can't think of anybody who hates fancy dress parties. You've got to be a real douchebag to hate them.

Well on the plus side, it gets girls who like anime to wear less clothes.
On the negative side, it gets girls who like anime to wear less clothes.
