More young Xavier/Magneto? Count me in. Loved First Class and will be happy to see more of that arc. JFK's assassination is the obvious "big event" to do next, chronologically speaking, especially as he appeared briefly in the first film, but they may bypass that for sensitive reasons.

This is no surprise, I've been saying this since it came out. However, it being set in the 60s would be a huge disappointment, I want the retcon Moviebob promised!!

Of course, it'd be more shocking if First Class didn't get a sequel.
Indeed. I can't remember the last time I saw people so universally excited for a movie. NOT making another would be a huge mistake, financially at the least.

Great movie but please, please don't make a sequel. It was perfectly satisfying as a singular prequel movie.

I'd like to see it go more into the civil rights issues of the US at the time. It kind of sucks that they killed Darwin off because he could have had a huge role if Martin Luther King Jr. was in the sequel.
Darwin's ability was he reacted to change right? Like evolved to his situation? That could've been a badass character if he wasn't killed off before he could fight.
That's probably why they killed him off: because he would've been too powerful.

As for a sequel: I'm all for one. They hit a fucking home run with this movie and if it kept up with the same path they set with this one, I'd be all for it.

I honestly saw that coming. I won't be surprised if they remake the first movie before long.
Who knows? Maybe in the next movie Wolverine will spice things up and reject Magneto's job offer by saying "Go fuck yourself with that gay helmet."

I did read that First Class in intended to be a triliogy so I'm not surpise by this news. I'm not too concern about the next plot and setting as long they will add a few more characters in the sequel. Maybe a proper Deadpool that the fans demanded.

I thought they guy they picked for Prof. X was going to suck but he actually did really well. And Michael Fassbender was a fucking great Magneto too.
*swoosh*
agreed, they better get both of them back for the roles otherwise there WILL be hell to raise, god dammit.

OT: Bring it on, i loved first class and with the cast and momentum they have i can only see it getting better from here

I loved First Class, it's my favorite X-men movie. The only thing I had a problem with was magento's costume at the end...really? I laughed my ass of when I saw it, thought it was some cosplayer xD
Agreed, it looked like he had a purple beach towel on his back. That is my only gripe other than that tiny nitpic it was a fantastic movie and a sequel will be truely awesome.

Michael Fassbender was such a good Magneto, im sure in a few years he could play James Bond (He was born in Ireland, Connery was Scottish). It could happen.

I want to be excited about this...but I'm definately cautious about it. I've liked Bryan Singer's X-men material so far. Still, although there's a significant time gap between First Class and X1 that allows for a prequel-sequel to exist I'm not to sure about it.

Heres' a potential plot. Now that mutants are known armies around the world want their covert mutant faction. Mr. Sinister could be a great villain this time around, let Mags sit this one out as the main antagonist. Plus, Sinister is one of those unaging mutants so he can appear whenever without screwing up the timeline. If Havok must be in this timeline, then turn him into Cyke's dad. Adding Mr. Sinister to this equation can go with comic cannon as Sinister has this unhealthy obsession with the Summer's family. To fit with the movies, and probably add Mags, now that mutants are around, Sinister is trying to make them enhanced mutants he loves. Magneto is partially swayed to this as the he deems humans inferior. However, after seeing the heinous extremes Sinister will go to achieve his chimeras he is reminded of Nazi experimentation and bails out, but Prof X and team must go in and clean up Sinny's mess. Fox could even cameo Wolverine again with a parallel of this enhanced mutants and genetic crossings with Weapon X program. In fact, you could return Moira to her usual role by having her head a lab that studies mutants due to her experience with them in First Class, aided by Prof X.

Seem good?

Gotta agree, I was pissed when Darwin died. Sure, he was the only black mutant, but I was more mad that they didn't do more to show off his powers. The dude could adapt to anything! The fights they could've had him doing would've been so cool. (Best one I could think of is where you throw him outta the Blackbird, and he sprouts wings and flies.)

As for the sequel talks, I hope they go forward. The Vietnam war would be great to use as a backdrop. Mutant fighting in it, going behind the scense to cause the protests, or secretly running things...plenty of plot material.
But Darwin sucks as a character. He's always been rather boring and his ability is just silly and inconsistent. He evolved to not need to breath when he was ejected into space, but still needs gills underwater? He beat a tazer by (I wish I was making this up) evolving into a sponge, so that his nervous system could not be affected. It seems rather fortunate that he always turns back into his normal form. Sometimes his adaptations are portrayed as a choice, like when he evolved hyper-intelligence to learn an alien language in minutes (which isn't really a survival instinct, is it?).

The only time I think his power was portrayed convincingly was in World War Hulk, where he went to help fight the Hulk and spontaneously developed teleportation and involuntarily jumped three states away and was unable to get any closer without jumping back. See, that's a survival instinct and a proper response to the threat.

I want to see the Vietnam war touched upon, have the team at the start rescue Karma as a child possibly. Nothing like a blackbird screaming over the treetrops as some classic musics blasts (All Along The Watchtower is a bit cliche, but still awesome).

Some good new characters to add to the team would be Polaris to fill the Jean Gray character role and perphaps in this film continuity Havok and her could be Cyclops' parents. Thunderbird and Sunfire add some neat powers and diversity to Xaviers side as well.

I'd love to see another villain as well as Magneto, someone like Mr Sinister would be cool.

The Vietnam War perhaps?
I third that. Would be interesting to see how that would turn out.

I hope the X-men films dont' all become about being centered around real world events. I'm new to the X-men universe but I liked the "mutant problem" being a recent facet of the not too distant future (somewhere in time and space.) And I hope eventually they return to that timeline. That being said, I loved First Class and will be happy with a sequel.

I'd like to see them get pinned for the Kennedy assassination. That'd be interesting.
You can have a mutant that can blend into a grassy knoll.
