The first mutant? Have a story focussed around whoever the really powerful ones were?
Apocalypse would be COOL but... meh without the core X-Men it would suck. Personally I would have used him in X3 as the ultimate "f**k you" to thoe thinking that Magneto would get his war HIS way.
You mean adding Apocalypse or the Age of Apocalypse story because both would be just as awesome or even days of future past season.
Honestly? Apocalypse himself first. DoFP was built up to so you saw how bad he was BEFORE that happened. And waiting on DoFP also allows fans to see if they"Deadpool" him and not buttf**k one of the best X-Men arcs ever.

Yes, they are looking towards a sequel. It's called X-Men. It was released in 2000. It takes place chronologically after First Class. That is the whole concept of a prequel, after all, that it comes before a movie, and is followed by that movie. I don't see how they could possibly make a sequel to a prequel that technically has a sequel. Well, ok, you can, I guess, but we all know how well those turn out (not naming any names, George Lucas). Am I the only one that thinks First Class works as a standalone movie and any sequels would ruin it?
Keep in mind nothing said First Class was the ONLY prequel... ~points to X-Men Origins~

Oh, and as for the real life backdrop, they should do the lunar landing, and specifically state that there WASN'T a transformer on the moon. Just in case anyone heard otherwise ;) ;)

As long as they make it good, I don't really care what they do with the rest of the trilogy (though retconning X1-X3 and Origins would be nice).

The only potential snag I see is continuity. They're trying to keep these movies in the same time line as the other XMen movies (well, the good ones, anyway... screw X3 and Wolverine Origins)

This one will likely be set about 30 years (or more) prior to the first Xmen movie. That means based on age, Iceman and Angel are right out, Jean and Cyclops are doubtful at best. They can't go TOO far forward, if they want to keep the same Magneto and Xavier.

Of course, they could always just say screw it and ignore the previous movies (they've already done a bit of that to #3, so maybe Angel will make a new appearance) Gambit is slightly more probable, as they've shown COMPLETE disregard for Origins.

I want to see the Vietnam war touched upon, have the team at the start rescue Karma as a child possibly. Nothing like a blackbird screaming over the treetrops as some classic musics blasts (All Along The Watchtower is a bit cliche, but still awesome).

Some good new characters to add to the team would be Polaris to fill the Jean Gray character role and perphaps in this film continuity Havok and her could be Cyclops' parents. Thunderbird and Sunfire add some neat powers and diversity to Xaviers side as well.

I'd love to see another villain as well as Magneto, someone like Mr Sinister would be cool.
Well If memory serves I think Charles broke his back in Vietnam due to his brother becoming Juggernaught.

I'd like to see the plotline with Cyclops and Havoks dad (who becomes a fething space pirate) and perhaps explain Havok being in the 60s using time travel and then we could have Cable and Mr Sinister. Even better news if Mr Sinister and time/interdimensional (which is confirm in First Class as Azreal like Nightcrawler teleports by going into another dimension and popping out of it) travel happens:

[HEADING=1]DARK BEAST![/HEADING] which also means we can have the Real Mccoy story arc in which Beast has to fight Dark Beast

Fuse Rambo III set in Afghanistan with the x-men.
You sure that would sell? You know seeing as US and UK and number of other countries are sort of fighting a war there and people tend to get edgy over that kind of stuff. Also Rambo III even goes so far as to say that no one can win a war in Afghanistan and its people cannot be conquered. The film was like the rocky film with the Russian; one big piece of (watchable) propaganda.

first class sucked, characterisation sucked and didn't make any sense, the premise and use of the past sucked... at least the other xmen films made the past sound cool, sadly first class tried to make that past into an actuality... which sucked

everything sucked

I would like to see it later in perhaps the early seventies, with Xavier showing the slightest sign of thinning on top of his head. The Vietnam war would be part of the setting, if only for a blackbird flying over jungles to "all along the watchtower".

Cain Marko would be good, I would show a young Xavier in the fifties encouraging him psychically to leave home and join the army (because he's going to reveal Raven's secret). Have him fight in the Korean war. Working in the Cyttorak power might be too weird, so I'd have him modified by Sinister, who'd be a major villain in the movie, to be the Juggernaut (perhaps with celestial tech reminiscent of Apocalypse, leaving hints for the third movie). Magneto would still be present but more of the X-men's problem in the middle of the movie, who eventually helps them out before leaving still on hostile terms.

I agree that Polaris would make a good Jean grey equivalent for the first class, they should definitely keep her green hair. Perhaps have her focus more on the electrical and light aspects of electromagnetism, so she's not identical to Magneto in how they depict her powers, but ultimately she might fight him to move something metal. In this continuity she could be the mother of Cyclops with Havok, involves their relationship but changes it to fit the film.

Keep Havok, Banshee and Beast as the experienced X-men, add Sunfire and Thunderbird, who can fill the role of Wolverine-esque badass (perhaps wielding knives like Warpath has). Classic characters as well as a bit of diversity to the X-men squad. I would go with more unique costumes in the second, a variation of the jumpsuits from the first movie but with more colour combinations and individual trimmings.

Also if the Vietnam war is going, Karma might be a good and topical addition, even if only as a student the team rescues.

If you had to meet a quota of deaths/injuries, you could Thunderbird die in the manner he died in the comics and have Banshee's throat slit so he can't talk or scream. This could allow more x-men in a sequel without the team being bloated.

Sinister could set the movies up for a third film in the late 80s (perhaps involving the soviet invasion of Afghanistan) where they stop Apocalypse. This could feature the deployment of the first films X-men squad of a teenaged Cyclops, Storm and Jean with probably Beast as well a few more mutants like Cannonball, Sunspot and Dazzler. They would move back towards the costumes of the first two films (rubber-leather sci fi paramilitary uniforms).

There you have it, a potential trilogy that spans the cold war, with classic characters and villains, while still fitting loosely enough with the first 2 movies at least.

I'm totally excited for a sequel, I really loved First Class. And I agree with the other escapists on the Vietnam War, could be interesting.

As long as the opening line of the movie is "It's such a shame Emma Frost got hit by that huge semi and exploded into a rain of blood and organs. And then was vaporized by another half-retarded mutant. And then was eaten, vomited, eaten again, and then thrown into an incinerator. What a shame."

I might have hope then.
She was the unspeakably, ridiculously hot villainess in white who could turn into crystal, right? That'd be a waste...

OT: Good, First Class was a great film. Only problem is, what're they gonna call it? The first film's title doesn't leave many options...

I can see it involving the moon landing if they do a second one, didn't the x-men have a moon base or something at some point.

She is hot, I'll give you that. But she also has all the personality of a cardboard box.

For everything I think of, I can't imagine the sequel to this being any good. I can't figure out why. Maybe because it sounds like a cash-in.
She is called the "ice queen" for a reason, you know.

Wait, wasn't First Class a prequal to the X-Men franchise? Then wouldn't a sequal have already been produced? Can they beat this dead horse any harder? And where the hell is that Deadpool remake we were promised? Did Ryan Reynolds forget about it when they handed him Green Lantern?
