Portal 2 reference! *High Five*. Seriously though, we all saw this coming. Just the fact that this had not gotten as much news before surprises me.

Asbury is only full of Logical Fallacies and horrible comparisons which make no sense. I am suprised someone like him has been in the business long enough to get both bold and have a grey mustache. Ambrozy on the other hand has answered everything with Logic, and with evidence. He answered how he was supposed to answer, whether people listen or not answers exactly how intelligent they are, and in that arguement it would be wise for Fox if they just sat down and thought over what they should REALLY be doing before they go in the smoke with a fully cocked gun, otherwise it will just end up with them losing even more people.

To anyone wondering why it is that Fox News chooses to lie so openly. For anyone thinking that it's to promote certain parties over others it is and it isn't.
It's mostly about money.
Scenario: The country is in bad economical shape. A human, let's call him "Dan", has been laid off and like many others is struggling to find another job. He turns on the TV and sees a man with blond hair and blue eyes. And the man tells him that he knows why Dan was laid off. Apparently, there exists an evil race of goblin -like creatures, that roam the streets in disguise called, "Liberals". In fact, there's an entire political party of Liberals. The liberals want to use tax-payer dollars to cough(help people just like Dan get back on the feet)cough. So Dan votes against the liberals, but wait! Dan's still broke and unemployed? Who to turn to? Who to go to in these times of personal crisis. That's it! Fox news showed him what the "problem was last time, maybe they can help him again.

Rinse and repeat
By offering snake oil remedies that not only do nothing to help the viewer but hurt them as well, Fox viewers keep crawling back looking for the next fix. Like a heroin addict.

there just preaching to the choir. and besides when you stop considering them as a reliable source of news if you did in the first place. then they just become a source of comedic gold. I was always impressed by how they could say such nonsense with a straight face.

yes, but on the other hand, I think the critics point really wasn't that games are bad, but that broadening the scope of the NEA's mission by including video games means Americans have to give MORE money to "useless crap"
Except that including videogames doesn't mean the NEA is getting any more money. It just means that developers can compete for the same cash that was already being given to film and radio productions.

Fox news is such a joke, they seriously don't know anything. They just need to be taken off the air and never come back.

I just imagined that first in the voice of Professor Farnsworth, then in the voice of GLaDOS.

Also, could we just all agree not to watch them anymore? Please? This sort of thing isn't even funny anymore.

Nice framing of a story FOX. The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) does not give money to anything that can make money, but only for what can be considered to better the life of US citizenry intellectually or to inspire growth in a medium. Monies are only given out after a proposal is submitted in review. Therefore, a standard COD-style FPS or any other kind of game geared toward high volume sales would never get taxpayer dollars.

'Traditional' art is the same way. Artists (either sculptors, painters, directors, photographers, etc...) must indicate that they want to display their stuff for the betterment of mankind and NOT sell it, and the money only really lets them eat and buy supplies while they are working on whatever it is that they are contributing to the world. Commercial artists (big budget movies, people that sell artwork, and people that sell tickets to shows for profit) don't get NEA dollars for those projects. It would be the exact same way with game designers.

An aside... I wish they would have gotten a better debater for the pro-games-as-art side, because a quiet, timid debater is just as bad as having the uneducated/untrue expression of what the NEA actually does.

He adds that organizations like the NEA are "stretching the limits of wastefulness," becoming a "perversion" of what they were originally intended to be, all in regards to the changed criteria.
That has to be a joke.
Why would that be a joke? Why should the government be paying for the arts at all? Why can't these not for profit organizations that support and further the arts get their money from donations or private funding rather than the pockets of taxpayers? Why should every American taxpayer be forced to support an organization like the NEA? If people want to support these groups then they obviously should be allowed. However, people shouldn't be forced to with no say in the matter.
If you don't understand then please ask nicely.
I meant it has to be a joke because it made me think that fox rather meets that description.

There's a debate to be had about that, but the one on display here isn't it. They aren't talking about the value of the NEA as a whole so much as just attacking games.

I understand that most of you here are in no way followers of Fox News, but I have to it.

What the f*ck, America? What the actual f*ck

Fox News, Warren vs DC, the KFC Double Down. Your country is incredibly messed up.

(Still. At least you don't have Amy Winehouse. That's a small comfort right?)
No more messed up than the UK. Daily Mail. Stephen Lawrence. British National Party. Spotted dick. Still, at least you don't have Justin Bieber.

Get a drink, watch Fox News, and take a sip every time they lie, blow something out of proportion, or use strawman attacks. My record was 20 minutes conscious.

OT: -_- Why isn't their a news station that claims it is Libertarian that actually IS libertarian? Really, why?
