No, a good reporter will challange a responce and have a go at them for ignoring the question or paying it off. A good reporter would have asked more engaing questions of both sides. A good reporter would not have shown obviously non-artictic, uneducational games flashing on the screen the whole time. A good reporter/news organisation would never have produced that clip.Ace IV said:They set up the debate so people could hear a different point of view. The dude from FNC never took a side, as good reporters don't. Stop blaming Fox for reporting the news in an honest wayZeroMachine said:They set up the debate so the guy opposing video games would ignore every point the other guy made. Fox is just as much at fault for this as that asshole radio guy.Ace IV said:Fox didn't do anything wrong, they had a debate. Your ire should be directed at the dude who was arguing against video games as art, not FNC itself.
Besides the obvious problem of forcing people to support something regardless of whether they want to or not, the big problem with funding art is that art is extremely subjective. Some people think cramming paint up your backside and letting loose on a big piece o' canvas is art. Some tool in Italy took a dog off the street tied it up and starved it to death and called that art. There are more examples of crazy things people consider art but the point is what one person thinks of as art another person thinks of as simply offensive.K_Dub said:It's never wasteful to spend money to support the arts, and I suppose it's only wishful thinking in hoping that the people over at Fox actually realize that video games are an art form.
You know what? We should get the guys from Extra Credits on Fox! They'd tear those ignorant jerks a new one!
Exactly this is intentionally to create controversy and give them money...NoDamnNames said:once again fox news gets the equivalent of thousands in free advertising by running offensive material and having angry people post their nonsensical dribble all over the web
with fox "news" mediums the best thing to do is ignore them, and they will literally die.
Grand Theft Auto. Duke Nukem. That school shooting mod game. The Conker series. Twisted Metal. Mortal Kombat. Ninjabread Man. God of War. Most of the Movie Tie-in games out there.Ranchcroutons said:All games are art and ignorance of this only causes more confusion for people on the outside looking in.

Or, you know, the guys who thought it was news to bring him on. Vetting your "experts" is part of what makes you a "journalist."Ace IV said:Fox didn't do anything wrong, they had a debate. Your ire should be directed at the dude who was arguing against video games as art, not FNC itself.
You saying Postal isn't art? You can make some very pretty pictures with blood!Space Jawa said:Grand Theft Auto. Duke Nukem. That school shooting mod game. The Conker series. Twisted Metal. You're really going to try to classify all those kinds of games as art?
I can keep going if you need me to.
I believe that every one of us Norwegians on this site who has seen Fox News' blatant stupidity will promise this. Then, we shall party all night long with the rest of the US.Assassin Xaero said:Dear other countries in the world, if you get made and decide to attack and invade the United States, please strike Fox News HQ first, then I promise we will try to work out a compromise afterwards...
...How is Dante's Inferno your first-go-to thought when you think of "Games are art"?Haydyn said:The whole "Art Video Games Art?" debate is pointless. Some games are, (Dante's Inferno), some games are not (Call of Duty). Not all games should be considered an artistic statement. However, if funding is involved, it should be mentioned that even the most bland shooter has tons of character rendering and mapping. Look at Spartans in Halo. Somebody had to create those images.
