The worst part about this is Fox News presents this as though this is actually a fair argument and there are people who honestly believe what is being shown. They honestly see Fox NEWS presenting this correctly without any sense of irony.

Damn it Fox. I really like some of your segments. But saying things like this is just too far.

You need to sit down for a second, and understand what you are saying.

Although, perhaps they DO support video games by posting a strawman to argue against them. His points were so far out there, I doubt anyone took them seriously.

I would expect nothing less from the morons at fox news. Well, who gives a shit about these uptight technophobes? Not I to say the least.

I've never played a game that was as horrifyingly graphic and gory as the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan and still considered that game art(There may be some, I just haven't played them). They act like all games are now considered art, and that's not the case. That's the funny thing, not every movie is art, the good ones are, but the absolute shit ones aren't. Similarly, not every game is art.

Well, Fox news is right on this one. I mean, look at the story of any mainstream game, like mass effect 2, which gamers gobble up like it was the urine of Jesus himself. In the literary world it would classify as pulp, and in the movie world it would classify as a B-movie. While I suppose an artistic video game is theoretically possible, it sure as hell hasn't happened yet, mainly because of gamers being young, uncultured and whiny.
A video game would qualify for NEA grant money if it served a "public good." Therefore, educational video games (e.g., Oregon Trail) would qualify. There're plenty of those.

At one point I remember the host saying, "And these games can receive ten to two hundred thousand dollars from the federal budget...why?" To which I went in my head, "...The same reason we fund books and paintings and movies." I know it was necessary for Ambrozy to be cordial and modest, as the defense of the argument, but come on, when the interviewer half-asses his questions the interviewee has to half-ass his answers to show what a farce the debate is.

I hate how the argument can apply to any medium of art. "Why should I be paying more taxes to support some guy to write a book?" Well good question, because you likely do not read, master inquisitor. But they'll never infringe on the established cultural heads because of a massive backlash from those communities, so they attack videogames instead. That sucks. The videogame industry gets pulled down a little, and the war on culture in America goes on for a little longer.

One day someone is going to ask, "What would you spend the taxpayers's money on?" To which, I assume, would be answered by the gaping of mouths, the touching of beards, and the furrowing of brows. Eventually there might be the answer of, "Making jobs, supporting the industry, et cetera." Good response to that: "How?" Best response to that: "How? Or do you expect to burn a patch of money in sacrifice to the great god Pele in order for him to increase our prosperity?" Anyway I am irrationally angry now, so...no point in going on.

Thank god Glenn Beck wasn't involved with it. I totally respect the guy AND he actually likes games (No seriously, he does, I met him at a Starbucks and asked them how he felt and he's impressed about, "What they can do now a days, before I just had a couple dots on an Atari screen"

And yes I asked about the GTA4 thing and, while he doesn't support the game altogether, he does like how proffessionally games should be treated (as art)

I understand that most of you here are in no way followers of Fox News, but I have to it.

What the f*ck, America? What the actual f*ck

Fox News, Warren vs DC, the KFC Double Down. Your country is incredibly messed up.

(Still. At least you don't have Amy Winehouse. That's a small comfort right?)

Gotta respect that guy though.
He held his own and kept his cool, even when the other two were ganging up on him.

Fox has never EVER liked videogames why should we even care what they say about them at this point, they are completely biased towards them and seriously need to shut the hell up and pay attention to brittany or something

It's never wasteful to spend money to support the arts, and I suppose it's only wishful thinking in hoping that the people over at Fox actually realize that video games are an art form.

You know what? We should get the guys from Extra Credits on Fox! They'd tear those ignorant jerks a new one!

Go team Fox!!!!!

Obviously a bunch of Americans are going to start running around screaming at the top of their protesting lungs that this is an outrage and their taxes aren't for violent videogames. Three out of every four people will do this at least.

I just can't understand why people choose to believe general factual lies when previous evidence has shown sources to be lying scumbags. This reminds me of my local municipal elections. The people protest against the government but after all that has happened, the corrupt government is still in power after the elections. Long story short, the majority of people are ignorant idiots and love it when they are being lied to!
