Wrong.
In both cases you need to pay; the difference is that in this case, you pay and they give your money back, and in the other, they don't.
I wouldn't call it free, but I wouldn't call it 'paid' either.

...So it's a ten-twenty dollar game, but you get to decide what little extras you get when you buy it. Oh those wacky marketing people. I'm sure 'free' sells, so to speak, but this is really really silly.

Do people here seriously not understand the term "fee-to-play"? In the MMO market, from where Dust 514 originates, "free-to-play" is often used as "subscriptionless" not "absolutely free".

The problem here is that CCP failed with the analogy. This isn't like a cover charge at all, its exactly like a Buy In(e.g. Poker). When you pay a cover charge you pay and that's it, you get access and nothing in return; when you buy in you get both access and equivalent currency for the activity.

But... it is Free-To-Play. You play it for free. You do not pay to continue playing. It is, however, not Free-to-Own, but they never said it would be either.

I don't think this is lies at all..

You get the game for free but you need to pre-buy credits?.. I have no problem with that.
Do what you want with the credits in-game, buy more if you want more stuff. Start as you mean to go on.

People want everything for free it seems... no matter how much it costs to make, run or support.

Consider other games.

Magic the Gathering is Free to Play, you have to buy the cards - a pre-investment in the game, but no-one charges you to actually play. You can play as much as you want with as many people as you want. You can buy more cards to do more but you need to buy some cards first right?
No-one complains about that.

Using that logic then buying a Monopoly game is making a profit. You pay $10 for the Monopoly game and get $15,140 in return. That's a profit of $15,130...how does Parker Brothers stay in business?

Oh yeah, you're trading real money for fake money. In other words, it's not free.

Some things make an entire post uncredible. Things like: "Am I the only one" and also "People want everything for free".

So you have to pay to play a free to play game? that sounds like a really dumb oxymoron.

That's not a very good analogy (also, not losing money is not necessarily making a profit; right?).
A much better one would be: buying a monopoly game gets you a scrabble game for "free".
The scrabble game here isn't exactly free, but you aren't paying for it either.
...
Do you get my point?

Not really and even though that should be the end of it, I am going to type a bunch of words just so I don't get warned a third time for "low content post".

Get this: I got warned twice for agreeing with a poster. The first time I just said "This", and got a warning for a low content post. The second time, I just said "I agree with this" and got a second warning for low content post.

This is what I call over moderation. It's like they want to ultimately suspend and ban as many people as possible here.

If you're talking to me:

Not kidding and surely as soon as they see my post I will be suspended or banned.

If you're not talking to me:

Disregard.

I know it's off-topic but, once, I answered a thread that had you name games of a sort, and only one came to my mind, and its title was just a word, and so, I got warned for answering the OP; that was kinda silly, but somewhat understandable.
However, most of the time that isn't the case - for instance, I've also been warned for expressing some of my non-offensive beliefs and ideals on this site.
I understand you completely - "abusive" and "overzealous" are a words that come to my mind when I see the damage that the overly large leashes on mods here cause to this forum.
Maybe they're paid for every warning they make; that would explain a lot.
