One doesn't want people to know who they are, they are taking shots from the dark at people they've chosen to put the spotlight on. The other case they're fine with people knowing who they are and what they stand for and want more people to know.
E.G. The national Center on Sexual Exploitation really doesn't want people to know they started as "Morality in media" a bunch of religious puritans trying to ban sex and violence in media. No they'd much prefer people just see them as some benevolent people trying to end end sexual exploitation by going after media they suggest lead to sexual exploitation.....

Maybe this is an Australian thing. I came from a conservative country town. They certainly instilled media literacy in me, particularly identifying propoganda. I dont think this happens frequently in the US education system for example
