You utterly hate JK Rowling and will always see everything she does in the absolute worst light that you can construct regardless of probability or possibility.

If she funded a book-mobile or personally opened a soup kitchen tomorrow you’d somehow work it out in your head that she wants to kill all transpeople.

That is the same style of thought and blind hatred that MAGATs use.
Dude...stop. You are failing forever right now on this. JK, like Musk and Kanye, need to sit the fuck down, shut the fuck up, quietly go somewhere and count their money, and get the fuck out of everyone's way. Bitches like them care for no one but themselves and their pathetic ego.

"Nothing in my viewpoint takes any issue with people who would challenge or dismiss societal gender roles .. now form your entire social identity based on my subjective interpretation of your ability to reproduce or submit to brainwashing."

Cool, nice talking to you.

The entire practice of trying to "reclaim" pre-modern deities as representations of some ancestral ideal of womanhood is some borderline TERF shit already.

People who end up in a rape crisis centre will never overcome their trauma.

Like, of all the stupid bullshit around this, the most offensive thing is that these TERFs clearly haven't given any thought to the actual condition of the type of person who ends up being referred to such a service (even assuming they will be eligible for referrals, which I actually doubt because mental health workers in my experience tend to be above this kind of bullshit). People don't get raped one time and get referred to crisis centres. People who end up in those centres have been raped many, many times, probably beginning in childhood. Many of them will have serious addiction problems, a lot of them will have been forced into sex work. They are all suffering from some kind of dissociative disorder, which for many of them will be dissociative identity disorder (what used to be called multiple personality disorder).

A person simply doesn't recover from DID. At that point, the evidence clearly points to it being a neurological difference in the structure of their brain. They can learn to live with it more healthily, but they will never recover. In fact, they will probably become less capable as they proceed through treatment because they will start to remember more. Treatment times for them are measured in decades, and they will need lifelong care, which they almost certainly won't get unless they can find a non-abusive partner willing to look after them because frankly the health system is shit at acknowledging that trauma disorders exist, especially the more serious ones. They will probably struggle to even get a diagnosis unless they go privately.

A crisis centre isn't a place people go to recover, it's a place people go to not die. It's a place to keep some of the most mistreated people in our society alive for a few weeks during particularly horrific episodes in which they might be in danger from themselves or others.
Truth.

Interesting, all three of those had a much better reputation just a few years ago, though less so Musk. They could have sat quietly and done nothing, or done one of those boring celeb travel shows, or maybe used their money or influence to do something worthwhile. They put a lot of time and money and effort into becoming what they are today.

Kanye wasn't doing much better a few years ago. Sure, he has his defenders, but the only differences now are that a majority of them are racist KKK, Neo-Nazis, and ultra conservatives. There are blacks that still defend West, because "He puts out bangers!" (He hasn't since 2010), but even those community finally took the fucking hint. Sucks it took certain ones that long, that he lost it even before Trump and COVID. As far as I am concerned, Kanye's reputation has been in the shit since September of 2009. I had already got sick and tired of shit at the age of 20, and swore off him for a good reason. Shang Tsung could literally steal the man's soul and I would have a Grinch-like smile to match the sorcerer's own.

When you see those richest-person lists, mostly you just think: who? The combination of wealth and shitty, extremely public, behaviour does tend to make people somewhat conspicuous.

I don't really know where to put this as it's neither woke nor anti-woke, it's just the usually BBC dickheadedness. This is how they've reported on the interest rate rise (just announced) that's going to hurt people who are already in the shit. Read the room, arsehole!

Yeah, might have to stretch the timeline back a few years more for him, true.

(Had to google what he was up to in Sep 2009, I guessed it was the Taylor Swift thing (the first one, that is), but wasn't sure)

You still haven’t directly answered my question as to why the story with Father Winter is more real than other versions.

Though I will say your implication that the name has TERFA connotations does shed light on the subject. As does your refusal to see any positive aspect of the mythology surrounding Beira, which is mentioned in the article you linked.

Are you getting hung up on the name as a distraction from the fact that she hired a fucking prison governor with a history of abuse to run this thing? Because that's what it looks like.

Well, how would you suggest they distract from the fact that she hired a prison governor with a history of abuse to run the thing? Not seeing a really good way to draw attention away from that.

I am getting “hung up” on the fact that TheMysteriousGx made a claim about that mythological figure and refuses to explain why they feel their version is the “real” version and any positive take on her is “fake”.

If that really bothers you more than the prison abuse thing, I have questions.

Gonna pull the quote *again*, so everybody but you knows that that's the story *they* were talking about
Beira (pronounced By-ra) is the Scottish goddess of winter. She rules over the dark side of the year, handing over to her sister Bride when summer comes again. Beira represents female wisdom, power and regeneration. Hers is a strength that endures during the difficult times, but her myth contains the promise that they will not last forever.
Now which story is it that has the Bride?

Why're you using quotation marks around "real" and "fake", when you're the one who brought that whole element into this? It's just odd.

That’s the first time I’m seeing that link here. Are you saying that you posted that link to that story on this thread before?

Add in Rowling straight up naming the place after a cruel winter crone goddess...

I mean, she's fanfictioned up some new meanings for the god she's named it after, because of course she did, but like...extremely cursed vibes
You posted and linked to the Angus and Bride story twice. It is the same story by the same author. You also claimed that JK Rowing “fanfictioned up” new meanings for the goddesses name.

Said goddess has a long history of having positive aspects. Those are not new. The particular story you linked to appears to be newer than the positive aspects. It also includes a figure who does not seem to appear in Scottish or Celtic mythology

I have asked repeatedly why you think the negative aspects are any more real than the positive. You have so far refused.

What makes the positive aspects fanfiction and not the negative?

Shoulda made it a game, that's how you sell digital crack.
This feel like a joke. Heck someone could have posted that as a joke and I would have said it was lazy and lacked creativity (look at that horrible photoshop of trump face). Surely even his fanboy will find this pathetic.

Neither I nor you said entire. You said most important. Name a social identity more important that reproductive role. For those who have reproduced, parenthood is their most important social identity. For those seeking a long term partner, reproductive goals is priority. Even for those who don't want kids, that desire to not have kids is going to dictate as many social interactions for them as anything else in their life.

This is the thing you can't escape, no matter what. Language can change, styles can change, job expectations for groups can change, all aspects of gender can change if society wills it. But reproduction will always be the most important aspect of people's social identity. If that changes, the species dies.

Truly spoken like one of the Aunts from The Handmaid's Tale.
