The 'woke' pope strikes again.
I suppose Francis is reasonably progressive under the context that he's the bloody pope.

Sadly this makes him fall under a highly unfortunate tradition within ''leftist'' leaders where they have all the right domestic policy ideas only to combine them with the worst and most cruel foreign policy ideas out there.

He's still the pope but Francis can be said to be somewhat of a liberal reformer or a ''woke'' pope. However while doing this ''domestically'' he's also shilling for Russia a lot lately which is about the least liberal and the least Christian foreign position one can have.

Same with Corbyn. Aside from being a Brexiteer in sheeps clothing his domestic policy was mostly good. But then he started spouting gibberish about how Ukraine shouldn't be helped and how Russia was ''provoked''

Or Lula who defeated fascism at home only to go cheer it on abroad when he found out Russia was the one doing it.

Close to home the new leader of the Socialist party is seen as pretty effective and someone who might finally steer that failing ship to safer shores. And then he did an interview in the Volkskrant parroting Russian propaganda and pretending EU politicians who cheered on protesters against the Russian puppet were responsible for the war while not even naming Russia.

Of course when asked, or occasionally on their own accord they'll stifle a laugh and pretend to find it oh so terrible what Russian is doing but that means nothing when they parrot Russian propaganda, oppose help to Ukraine pretend the west is somehow at fault for Putin's delusions of empire.

Well, you can always count on him championing the causes of the poor and speak out against inequality, consumerism and greed. That is his main shtick. He will also speak against racism and for environmental causes.

But when it comes to LBGT+, he is an old guy who grew up more than half a century ago in a not particularly progressive country and his views mirror those of his peers.

As for reforms, well, he is somewhat charismatic and has always been willing to life a comparably frugal life, which gives a lot of weight to his arguments. But he is a hands-on guy, not a scholar. I wouldn't expect much in terms of reinterpretations or canon changes under his tenure.

As for Ukraine, earlier he spoke very strongly against Putin and also more agressively against Kyrill than the churches have done in a century. But now it seems he has lost hope that Ukraine can win and thus wants them to accept a bad peace.

Same as this guy.

It is not just Trump, Biden and so on: the left is also sclerotic with hoary old Cold War gerontocrats that need to be cleared out for a fresh, modern generation.

It should be pointed out that in that sandwich of trying to tar him is Melenchon being absolutely correct about Israel and Gaza, and from October.

We should have a civil war.

In China, Russia, or and Iran.

One one hand a collapsing Russia seems appealing. On the other hand such an event risks a ton of nukes going missing or ending up with lunatic warlords.

It did go ok (ish) with the USSR breaking up. It's noteworthy that stereotypical evil types with the capabilities to use WMDs tend not to use them.

Our resident war chicken will tell you all about how his napkin math says there are no working nukes in Russia, and hes prepared to gamble our world on it.

Assuming that they had no WMDs, they have lots of other stuff to go walkabout. A several millions people who'd be rather worse off, quite probably more than Russia being intact is making rather worse off.

So much for being wholesome and all about family and protecting the children.

If the intention was to make gayness look like the coolest shit, mission accomplished. Imagine if that was animated, that'd be amazing.
This asshole again? Hey mister "I'm Latino I am not racist or sexist", why you still trying to appeal to the far right so much? Because that's the case then most of those jackasses don't give a shit about you because of your skin color. Assuming your Latino anything.

I mean it IS Russia corruption, incompetence and neglect probably did do a number on the quality of the nukes. But if even some of the nukes still work that's enough reason not to do the gamble.
