I think its different from Europe, at least in the way that Europe had ever changing borders and almost constant conflict. America was pretty much just taken and treaties were ignored if anything settlers found was of value. As I said before, its kinda cringe, but is pretending the land was either found uninhabited or freely given better? I mean the best you got before with even acknowledging that force was involved was defending settlers from savages that just wanted to kill them, which kinda goes into the 'land being uninhabited' thing.I think it's the hollowness of it all.

It's also stupid because in the past everyone took land from everyone else at some point seemingly too. I'm sure the Italians are pissed at all the people who stole part sof their Roman Empire and people before that upset that the Romans invaded them. Or some clans who stole one another's land in the past.
