Good thing I don't buy games on Steam, so I never put in credit card information.
My thoughts precisely. I'll take a hard copy over flaky and evidently vulnerable digital any day.

I deleted my cc details from my steam account just in case the hackers who did the forum breach are searching through their d/l to find a breach for steam proper.

Does the credit card information only get stored if you save the information on your account? Or is it stored on their servers forever?

Aaaaand... security measures updated. Thanks for the heads-up, Gabe.

I'm still a bit paranoid about my CC details, but I guess I should be in the clear, seeing how I never save them after a purchase...

Not happy they got hacked. Glad they wernt dicks about it tho. I got my xbox account hacked to buy FIFA content (twice), like a lot of people, and XBOX still wont acknowledge anything going on.

Let the "Sony did it wrong" comments commence. On topic, I hope it wasn't as bad as they expect.

I haven't noticed any unusual activity on my debit card yet... At least VALVe were straight up about this unlike the other company that shall remain nameless. And if they want to apologize giving a solid release date for HL2:Ep3 would be a good idea
I know! Micro$oft are the real jerks, aren't they?

Card cancelled. Good thing it expired in a couple months anyways. Hope I don't miss any good deals in the next couple of weeks. Appreciate the heads up from Valve though. I'm not so much worried about the encrypted data as I am about all the personal information stored.

Oh for fucks sake, those damn hackers! ¬.¬

Can someone kindly tell me how to delete my debit card off Steam please? I can't seem to find any options to do it.

Let's hope that Steam Guard works as intended. I know I've had to use it, but I hope that it's not too easy to crack.

No need for such extremes! You only cancel the card once you notice unusual transactions through checking the transaction history frequently (I check the history of my account daily through online banking so I know very quickly if something is up and with my bank's anti-fraud systems ( Detailed here: http://info.westpac.com.au/discover/Topic.aspx?v=html&i=securityguarantee ) I should be fine.)
I'm not worried at all if someone racks up the balance. 0-liability insurance and a purposefully low limit ensures the financial damage done to me and merchants is minimal. Unfortunately credit cards are used for more than just buying stuff =(.

Thankfully I'm more than able to live without a credit card for a week.

Of course Gabe Newell is upset about this. If the hacker(s) get our credit card information, we can't give money to Valve, and if Valve gets no money, Gabe Newell can't buy his daily metric ton of Zebra Cakes, which are the source of his power.

Should he lose his precious Zebra Cakes, he will lose weight and therefore will lose the respect of the other big shot Hutts in the galactic community.

and you just delayed episode 3 another year :(

besides, Gabe doesnt need zebra cakes, why get zebra cake when you can get Lion cake, but from lions that eat zebras, that way you get a 2x1 kind of deal

What is the point of saying that anymore? All the fat jokes made so far have already delayed it to 5,000,897 AD!
