Gamers: Not understanding that developers have people and thus opinions that my differ from there own for over 40 years.

Interesting. That's kind of what I expected, a sort of who's who of general knowledge games. Aside from the mass whining of people who do not understand that this is a popularity contest of people of a certain profession I like it. (pssst, guys just because it's a top x list doesn't mean that it means anything beyond a survey of opinions, you don't have to be offended because a game you don't like isn't up there. Really!)

Actually I totally agree with this... The Baldurs Gate series are epic. Helluva lot of fun to play.

So, there's Modern Warfare, there's Bioshock... but no Half-Life, bullshit.
Crappy list anyway in my opinion.
no halo, no portal, no counter strike, no BF, no rockstar games, no fall out, no STALKER, no total war, no scott pilgrim.....yet assassins creed, tomb raider and CODMW is on here?

pppfffftttt....no wonder developers keep turning out trash...

Hamsters and rangers everywhere, rejoice!

Yeah that's all I'm going to post, don't you use any excuse to quote Minsc? You should.

Dead Space and Tomb Raider? Seriously? Portal, Half-Life, and Fallout don't make the list, but they do? Yup, broken list is broken. Simple as that. Also:

and if you see point and click adventure ga... or when you used to see p'n'c adventure games, you'd compare them to Monkey Island. Especially if they had comical elements.
Actually, I compare them to King's Quest, which was always more fun, in that particularly frustrating kind of way, than Monkey Island. But maybe that's just me.
Well, you see, Tomb Raider is a classic from MY days. Nobody knew about King's Quest here. Or at least not in my age group... Everyone knew about TR.

And I hated King's Quest. I played a LOT of p'n'c adventure games, even classics like Larry (loved all of the games, got all of the first 5 games, and Larry 7 somewhere on a shelf I dunno where), but I really disliked how easy it is to die in a game like that.

...Now, Sam and Max, those are classics.

Incidentally, I am currently doing my annual Baldur's Gate replay (playing a Wild Mage through Tutu - oh yeah!) and am once again stuck at Sarevok...

YES MONKEY ISLAND!

Ahem.

Really interesting to see that Baldur's Gate is top. Didn't expect that at all. All I remember about that game is that I had a demo for it, and there were rats. Big ol' rats.

Sorry, but this list is kind of crap and reeks of developers trying to push their own games. I have been wanting to try Baldur's Gate for a while, but this list is not reinforcing or diminishing my desire to play the game.
At the risk of sounding like a rabid fanboy, you're doing yourself a great disservice by keeping away from the Baldur's Gate saga. Seriously. Grab BG 1 & 2 with the expansions, maybe look into the Tutu mod so you can play BG1 with BG2's engine, and treat yourself to hours and hours of one of the best RPGs you can play.

(And then try the Icewind Dale series, for more dungeon crawly goodness!)
I never said I didn't want to play it, I do, I REALLY do... I'm just saying looking at the other entries on the list just makes me question the surveys integrity, so I'm just not going to be using this as motivation to get the game. I daresay though, I already am enough though, the second I stop being lazy and tell my bank to validate transactions with Europe, I will be buying the game of GoG, and I bet as a roleplaying fan I will probably love the hell out of it. But for now, I'll just enjoy Skyrim and my heavily modded copy of Oblivion.

Well BG2 is the best game of all time for me (OPINION! I'm entitled to mine, as are you), so I can't say I disagree with this list.

Though if game devs think it is the best series why haven't we had more games/series LIKE it?

There is a reason I enjoyed Dragon Age: Origins as much as did despite its obvious faults (which I did notice as I played through it). Gamers who LOVE the BGSaga are starved of that kind of game...

I actually enjoyed the way it would randomly kill you. It showed you that curiosity, missteps, and failing to prepare could kill you cold. Plus, the mythology bent into it felt more fun to me, liking that kind of thing. Though, I'll give you that the precise steps have to be walked or you die would occasionally annoy. And I'll revise my stance on Tomb Raider, having thought about it--action platforming did more or less get a good start there, so that's fair enough.

'Tis a rather sh*te list, in my eyes at least. Dead Space? Diablo? Everquest?! I'm sorry, but while those games may be good, I find it hard to believe they are some of the best games ever made. What about Resi 4? Or Beyond Good & Evil?

How come the MGS series wasn't included but the Mass Effect series was! I detect major bias here.

Also who the feth voted for COD and Dead Space? Okay their good games; but not best ever. Silent Hill2 > Dead Space anyday. What about RDR (series) or a Total War game? Half-Life (series).
.........it's their opinion, so of course there is bias.

I cannot accept this because

[HEADING=1]Super Metroid[/HEADING]

has been quite obviously overlooked. Sorry, I like BG and a lot of the others on the list, but COME ON. Its objectively the best game ever.
Oh yeah. I remember buying this new - I've got the version that came in a big box (which I still have). It is one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had, not sure about the best, but it's up there.
