Thank you, that's exactly what I thought. Some kind of professionals they are... Not to mention that the 'Thief' series is missing, too. I don't see it in the Top 10 but it should definately be in there somewhere.Reptiloid said:Are you f****** shitting me? Bioshock and Dead Space made the list, and not System Shock 2? DEAD SPACE? BETTER THAN SYSTEM SHOCK 2?
These are not "redefining" games, these are "favourite" games.PrinceOfShapeir said:COD4 might actually deserve it's place here for how much it redefined the shooter. But Dead Space? Tomb Raider? Bioshock? Come on, people. What did -any- of those redefine, except maybe Tomb Raider redefining video game titties.
As much as people like to bash the series, Tomb Raider was damned good for its time and often considered the a peak in terms of gameplay and puzzle design. It's easy to dismiss it as just cheap thrills based on the games protagonist, but it had amazing level design, gameplay, and even graphics for its day. Tomb Raider Anniversary was one of my favourite games of 2007 and the original games were often brilliant even if there was a clear decline in quality over the years.PrinceOfShapeir said:COD4 might actually deserve it's place here for how much it redefined the shooter. Nice job, but those are ports. Not games initially made for mobile devices.zombie711 said:ExceptMike Kayatta said:Not one of these games was made for the App Store.

And what are you? The moderator? Just pointing out you didn't exactly contribute either with that post, dudeHardcore_racist said:Thanks for the contribution, chump. But I don't really think anyone's interested in hearing about how you aren't interested in the list. I'm sure there are better threads for you to act like a rebel in.Ulquiorra4sama said:Thank Darwin i don't give a damn about popular opinion.
I've set up my own list of top games and it's the only one i'll ever trust, and i don't even expect other people to care about my list since it's all just personal opinion.
So not my words. Loads of people would play TBS if there was someone who would build the bloody game. Civilization for a start. It was originally from people asking why XCOM wasn't TBS.Marik Bentusi said:Pokémon.The_root_of_all_evil said:Because "no-one plays Turn Based Strategy any more."
It's possible, you just have to freshen up the concept. Landscape hasn't looked well for strategy games in general lately. Maybe due to Modern FPS selling better. Or that strategy games require advanced and expensive AI. I dunno.
Well, in all fairness it's about their view on what the best games are, not necessarily what has affected the industry the most. I, for example, have never enjoyed fighting games, and although I've played the GTA games, they're not in my favourites at all. I'll agree on the Diablo point (purely because I've never played any of them) and the Dead Space one. However, I find a great number of discrepancies within the list. For example, I thought Metal Gear Solid 2 was a VAST improvement over Metal Gear Solid, but it's not even on the list.yourbeliefs said:This list is about as valid as Yahoo's top 10 games list. Here's some of the numerous things I see wrong with this collection:
NO fighting games. Really? Not even Street Fighter II or the series?
NO GTA games. The massive impact these games had on the industry cannot be ignored.
Diablo games ranked #2. Really? There's only been 2 of these games and from what I played, they weren't exactly innovative or industry changing.
Deep Space. The idea that this would be up there but NOT put on the Resident Evil series (or even Alone in the Dark for that matter) is ludicrous.
I feel like these developers were trying to be "too cool" for this list, so they didn't pick games that they thought were actually the most FUN and instead picked stuff that was most "meaningful" and artistic. They went for the "hip" factor as opposed to the "truth" factor. Either that or it seems to be that most developers are tossers.
Sadly, developers have no say in what games are made. Publishers make that call. And publishers tend to be kind of institutionally married to sales figures.Leftnt Sharpe said:This really begs the question: if so many developers love Baldur's Gate, why the hell does no one make that kind of isometric RPG any more?
