OP: Final Fantasy XIII. Oh god, Final Fantasy XIII... was coming straight off Final Fantasy XII and had heard only good things for FFXIII, but when it came around... that was the single most disappointing thing I've ever played in my entire life. The promising battle system ended up dealing with shitty enemies loaded with HP, the characters were all awful and the levels were mostly corridors and slightly large rooms filled with game-breaking treasure.
FFXIII-2 apparently fixes all of FFXIII's problems, but I'm not gonna touch it - I don't wanna be fooled again.
Yeah,
XIII was a massive disappointment for me as well. Though most people would call me a heretic for saying so, I loved
XII for its massive, open world, unique combat/leveling system, decent story and large cities with tons of NPCs.
Then I got
XIII and... ugh. I've said a lot of things about the game on these very forums, so I won't really go into repeating them for the sake of keeping this post from becoming a massive rant.
As for
XIII-2, it doesn't fix
every issue that
XIII had (for instance, the levels themselves are still fairly small, confined, and corridor-like), but for whatever it's worth, it feels a little tiny bit more like a
Final Fantasy game than
XIII did.

Oh, we have a bit of a misunderstanding here. I'm talking about the 2001 Peter Molyneux game Black & White, not the Pokemon editions. I kinda lost interest in Pokemon after Gold and Silver for the original Gameboy, I believe. I loved the idea of being able to visit the regions of the first game and going through all of the old gyms again. I was kinda disappointed that that wasn't a tradition kept in the following titles.
I'll second this as well (Minus the Peter Molyneux's
Black And White, because I was just a young'un when I played it so I actually enjoyed it). I've begrudgingly followed the
Pokemon series ever since Red/Blue came out over here in the states, and I've got to say it makes me incredibly sad that Gold/Silver and their remakes are still the only games in the entire franchise to explore multiple regions.
