To whoever mentioned Majesty: The Kingdom Simulator. I also have it installed still and Majesty 2, even though the first is way better.

it was a game for the genesis. you played a female character that used a boomerang that
you could upgrade to be up to three boomerangs the gameplay was pretty fast-paced and
at one point you fought a giant blob with a nucleus in the center that is all I remember but
the game was awesome

Man, I can't believe someone beat me to the punch with Walker and Chaos Engine (Amiga FTW BTW)
Other Amiga greats Shadow of the Beast, Leander, Exterminators, Atomic Boy and The Killing Game Show (and anything else by Psygnosis)
As for PC stuff there's Machines, Urban Assault, Hostile Waters, Lander (which took me over 3 years to complete) and warzone 2100 which I will always remember because of the 6 man 18hour straight epic match I was involved in, during which I only unlocked 60% of the updated tech tree.
