Call of Duty, even if the demo's fun, I can't make myself buy that trash.

Any Spyro game not made by Insomniac.

If you ever played the original trilogy, this answer will not require any further explanation.

I'll never buy another Fable game. Will skip Assassins Creed until they actually improve the game rather than stringing the story out as much as possible.

I don't refuse to buy games "out of protest". That's dumb. If I want to play it, I buy it. If I don't, I don't. Simple as that.

But to be honest, most of these posts seem to have missed the point anyway. People "refusing" to buy the next Fable/AC/CoD/Madden/etc. game because the last one sucked? How is that a "protest"? I call it "I don't want to play the next one because the last one sucked". It'd be a protest if I really wanted to play the next one but refused to buy it anyway. Which, as I've already said, is dumb.
This guy makes a good deal of sense.

OT: Never really protested a game before. I guess the closest thing I've ever come to protesting a game was waiting to buy MW3 until after I bought Skyrim because I was a little bummed with the minimal amount of changes they made to the game.

I mean, I would have done it anyways because of my big crush on Oblivion, but I'll count that. I'm glad I chose Skyrim first.

I've probably mentioned in other threads that I pretty much refuse to pay money for any Star Wars branded merchandise anymore, and it's pretty much for all the same "Fuck you George Lucas" reasons you might expect.
I don't feel like I'm missing much though since it's been about a decade since KOTOR was released, and that was pretty much the last game to have the Star Wars title that was worth a damn.

Anything in the God of War, Mortal Kombat or GTA franchise.
Perhaps it's somewhat fitting that I lump all three of these together because my reason for no longer playing these games is the same in each case.
They're some of the worst examples of stamped out "template" games I've ever seen and I refuse to reward them for their laziness anymore.

Any CoD game after World at War. After that, it's pretty much the same old song and dance from then on out. Besides, I'm too busy with Skyrim.

For the longest time I refused to buy any sonic game after Sonic Heroes (the only exception being Sonic Rush for the DS). I was appalled that SEGA had dropped all the voice actors in the north american releases in favor for the horrendously cacophonic 4kids voice actors. Also stopped buying them because of the ludicrous magical characters (Blaze and Silver), out of place settings (Sonic 2006 and secret rings), really dumb gameplay gimmicks (Sonic Unleashed, and so on so forth. However, colors had persuaded me briefly for being an exciteble ball of hyperspeed fun. But then I learned that SEGA was never going to release Sonic Generations of the Wii because they didn't want their stupid magnum opus to be relased on a consle that doesn't have HD graphics. Seriously SEGA? You think a game that is nothing more than a fandom whore is too good to be released on a weaker system? Give me a break! I'll be damned if there'll be another Sonic the Hedgehog game will that convience me to stick with the series

I still refuse to buy Left For Dead 2
I know it's been released, I know it's old news, but I'm still part of the boycott dammit.

I won't buy Shadow Complex since even a small fraction of money will go to Orson Scott Card. I can't even buy it used...
Why not used? Or even just borrow a friend's copy?
The game is an Xbox Live Arcade exclusive, no such thing as a used copy nor can it be borrowed...

Both Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon have done this to me. Once they were sold to different developers, we got Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex (which was decent, but not great) and Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly (which was utterly boring). Since then, the only Crash or Spyro games I've gotten were the first couple on the Game Boy Advance, since they were the only good ones. I completely lost faith in Spyro after Enter the Dragonfly and lost it in Crash after the horrendous makeover in Twinsanity.

I will never touch another F.E.A.R. game after F.E.A.R. 2. The first game was nowhere near perfect, but it had loads of potential, and could be crafted into a truly horrifying horror game. What did they do with the second one? They dulled down EVERYTHING (literally, I mean EVERYTHING) that was even vagueley scary in the first game into nothingness and amplified EVERYTHING that was bad about the first game by at least 60%. Warner Bros. probably has something to do with it, as I can easily see some money-grabbing exexutive from WB saying "NO! First game was too scary! We need more generic FPS gunplay! Also, there should be boobs in it!". And so, they removed the scariest part of the game (the creepy little girl) in favor of literally 20 seconds of full frontal nudity. I mean that for the entire game. THE WHOLE GAME.
That's the only thing I'm afraid of if Monolith were to reboot Blood; that it would be at the mercy of Warner Bros.
"Caleb isn't boring or generic enough! Quick, kill him off and replace him with someone with less personality than a stack bricks! This new protagonist would preferrably be a scantily clad woman, please and thank you."

None. I don't think that there is anything that would stop me from getting a game I was really interested in.

Hmm, on principle I refuse to buy LA Noire. Yes, it's a unique game, very much so. But after hearing the way Team Bondi's management just completely screwed up the development of the game, I refuse to buy it because I don't want any more money going to those insults to the human race.

If they ever make an inFAMOUS 3, I might not purchase it. Now I know that "might not" doesn't carry much weight, but do consider that I absolutely LOVED inFAMOUS 1 & 2. inFAMOUS 2 ended nicely. That's my point; it ENDED. Not only did ending a successful console-exclusive franchise take some serious balls for Sucker Punch to do, but the story ended nicely, and doesn't need to be continued.

Well let's see,

Anything by Ubisoft, their always on DRM was and still is a joke and they seem to be having issues just giving it up

Anything by EA, their BF3 launch was a debacle and then add to that they insult us by forcing us to use Beta software in the form of Origin

Batman AC, I really wanted to play this game, I loved Batman AA but Rocksteady decided they would go with GFWL and I am sorry but that just don't jibe for me, their is no logical reason to use GFWL for any game now so sorry Batman AC you ain't getting bought, and just to throw it in my face a bit more Steam's last day sale price for the game is £19.99. I guess that will go for the next Grand Theft Auto game as well, assuming they stick with GFWL.

Probably not out of protest, but I do not purchase Western RPGs in general. I have this burning hatred of games that do not provide a point in the narrative. In Skyrim, you are so important to this universe that no one can lift a finger with you watching over them. In addition to the main goal of killing all the dragons, every town has a bunch of "important" things you are the only one that can fix. Sorry, but if everything is important, eventually that means nothing is important at all. In fact they are so important in the first place that the cannot lift a finger to stop the problems themselves.

I will give Skyrim all the credit in the world for creating a fleshed out universe where one can get lost in. It provides you with a ton of opportunities to be as good or as evil as you want in them. But it does not provide reasons for me to care about anything in the game. The NPCs will not care if you are evil because they make it clear that they need you more than you need them.

Say what you want about JRPGs, but they do provide a reason for me to do anything in the universe. They clearly tell you to go kill God, who is somehow controlling the evil empire that you start out fighting. Most Western RPGs do not even provide that.
