I hear Halo 4 is going to be written by Dan Abnett.
Yeeeeeaaaahhh... no.

1) Abnett is busy writing a movie script and a Horus Heresy novel.
2) Abnett wouldn't write for Halo, seeing how he already writes about space marines far superior to Spartans. :p
You also forgot the final Inquisitor trilogy...Either way, Dan Abnett makes me nerdgasm. |: (And if he was writing Halo 4, even if there won't be one...Well...I would explode.)
The final what now? Link please. Must confirm news before nerdgasm.

I've never seen any news on him making the third Inquisitor series, though the introduction to the Ravenor Omnibus swears it will come to pass (Eisenhorn vs. Ravenor will not, I'm afraid, be the subject).

EDIT: According to Black Library's website, two other authors will be working on the next few Gaunt's Ghost series. Crap.
Yeah, he said in a recent Black Library TV FAQ he is still going to do it, and it's gonna be AWESOME.

Is he still planning to do it with Benquin, or a new character?

No no no no no! Karen Travis has a nickname with in the Star Wars community. Traviss-ty because what she writes really poor stories. She has a fixation on the mandalorians she hates Jedi with a passion and wrote one of the worst storylines in the Legacy series of books. *Spoiler for any of those who are yet to finish the series* Jace Solo who is turning to the dark side kills Mara Jade (Luke wife) with a poison dart. A simple poison dart, Traviss completely forgets that in previous series of books also an inferior series the longer it went on for, that Mara had a more life threatening illness which almost killed her over the course of a couple of years.

This can only end badly in my opinion.
Which was cured by Vergere's tears? I've read all the books and I edit wookiepedia for fun. Only idiots call her Traviss'ty. She fricken rules. Get to know the canon before you spot blatantly untrue "facts".

Well thank god she is getting work after the way Lucas treated her.

Hint, when you personally hire someone to flesh out stories/ideas/people, it might be a good idea to ACTUALLY USE THEIR MATERIAL. Otherwise, why hire them?
I had thought it was because she trampled all over the established material? That's what I've heard, anyways. Also read she never actually read previous novels in the Star Wars EU; just told the publisher what she wanted to do, and they did the looking up for her.
Which established material? The one where the Mandolorians are all dead and Boba Fett is really a former stormtrooper that disintegrated his commanding officer and aquired an old set of Mando armor? Or the established material where the Mandolorians are all dead and then some guy named Jango Fett pretends to be one and has an cloned army made from his cells? Or the NOW CANON established material in which the Mandolorians are a bunch of pussies, have their own planet and representative in the Republic, and their queen/duchess/whatever is a former girlfriend of Obi-Wan's?

The "establish material" in the EU has never been fully established whenever George gets a hair up his ass and decides to drop better writer's material in favour of his own clumsy works.

Not to mention there is a difference between poison and disease, disease generally takes longer to kill while a poison can work near-instantaniously.

Though Mara wasn't fully cured until she gave birth and her son healed her in the womb. The tears lost effectiveness.

Which movie is he writing? The next Wallace and Grommet movie (crosses fingers)
Hello-oooo...? It's Dan Abnett. What else is it going to be besides something W40k-related? (And thank God for that.) He's the main writer for the upcoming CGI-animated Ultramarines movie.

Heh. Though I have to say - a Wallace and Gromit movie written by Abnett... that sounds like a whole new kind of entertainment. ^^
Dammit, now you have me imagining Wallace and Gromit saving the imperium from the vile xenos!

You know, as much as I love W40k, I do realize that it leaves itself open for hours upon hours of delightful parody... if they were to make a Wallace and Gromit movie parodying W40k, I'd pay money to see it.

I'm actually quite interested in the Gears story, it's a very good setting they've got. I'm quite looking forward to the conclusion, they tell a story well.

Only Star Wars books I've read were the Darth Bane series.

And they were awesome.
Drew Karpyshn (is that right?) wrote the Darth Bane books. And, he also wrote the script for Knights of the Old Republic. So yeah, they are awesome.

And despite what some of the Star Wars fandom might want you to believe, not all of us hate Karen Traviss.

There is actually quite a sizable portion of us who like her work. Its just we aren't as vocal as the haters. We move on with life.

Gears of war has a story? When did this happen!?

It's nice to see them hiring someone who has had at least some success in writing doing the story. Gears 3 will be talked about for its excellent story as well as its ridiculously over-masculine protagonists.
