Square also said that the Tomb Raider games were disappointing with 11 million copies sold. I think Square is just unwilling to accept WEstern Properties. Maybe the Japanese in them make them feel like they have to shit on their Western Studios. "Oh it's not Final Fantasy so it SUCKED!" Kinda a dumb way to look at it, but I wouldn't be surprised if 50 million copies still wouldnt be good enough because they don't want their Western studios upstaging the Japanese ones.
Not the first time a Japanese dev and publisher did a case of nationalism/racism and tried to deliberately sabotage their Western project or studio.

Lots of regional governments provide employee pension services that play the stock market in order to gain funds. I don't know if this specific one has ActiBlizz stock, but I'd wouldn't be surprised if it did.
