I am really not sure what to make of this "game". Yes, I used quotations here, because despite devs on twitter showed it's running on unreal engine, I still think it might be a too-good-to-be-true scam.

If this is really what the game is supposed to look like and somehow optimized to run properly on all platforms, I don't feel too comfortable with the realistic graphics. I want my games to look like art, with creative visuals and aesthetics. I want the games to be a form of escapism, and not be reminded of how dark and shitty our world can be

It's obvious the developers are banking on this being "realistic"/remind the consumers of real world event and body cam footage. I support games as art as much the next person, but I want nothing to do with this game either. I don't know how well they'll pull this off, but as long as they don't do the colossal failure that is Hatred, I will give them some props. Yet, I can't help, but feel they're pulling from real world events shallowly.

Lol at that "ruined a great character"

Tell me you haven't played Horizon without telling me you haven't played Horizon.
Ugh I don't like that they made Aloy gay, but she was a fucking awful character throughout the entire sequel. People are dumb. I might complain, but i complain harmlessly and i don't bother fucking with review bombing bullshit or shit talking people on twitter or anything other dumb shit.

Was this a problem in Forbidden West when she was apparently kinda obnoxious with her insistence she and only she could save the world(I haven't played FW, but I've heard this complaint from a number of sources)?

Or is this a problem now when she's confirmed to be a lesbian?

The first I can sympathize with. The second just smacks of "NO GAYS IN MUH GAMES".

My decision not to play FW despite really liking ZD came down to how the story in FW isn't nearly as compelling and how the open world is apparently structured in HW to make it much more grindy and time consuming. I couldn't give a toss who Aloy is into honestly, especially considering she's not an incredibly compelling character. The worldbuilding was far more interesting for me then Aloy is.

And yet the expansion will sell well, making their bitching all the more useless. I don't dislike Aloy, but I wouldn't call her a "great character".

This quote from the article intrigues me right here:

Even though it was already established Aloy’s genetic ancestor Elisabet was a lesbian, this reveal still managed to surprise some “fans” who believe it’s “pandering” for PlayStation to reveal its second lead female as a lesbian (the first being Ellie from The Last of Us).
That's fine and all, but just because her ancestor was a lesbian, doesn't automatically Aloy one either. Like I said before, I am whatever on the character's sex preference. If it makes those in the LGBQT community happy, (and there plenty already are and were before the reveal. Check DeviantArt) I won't complain, nor act like a little biatch.

People are dumb. I might complain, but i complain harmlessly and i don't bother fucking with review bombing bullshit or shit talking people on twitter or anything other dumb shit.
I've told you time and time again. People like them don't want any form of positivity of those from a different gender, race, country, religion, or non-straight/bi/gay/trans unless they villains, victims, or negative stereotypes. Shallow confirmations for their pathetic biases.

Well, it's less that she's Aloy's ancestor and more Aloy is her genetic clone. And I don't know how sexual orietation works as far as cloning works honestly but considering in the Horizon games the entire human race are basically clones made from a big databank of genetic material recombined to preserve genetic diversity in local populations it basically works the way the writers want it to.

I dont remember that. In fact I remember Elizabet being very specifically asexual. She loved the planet, but didn't love any specific person. Which is a trait that Aloy shared, where she was dedicated to the cause of saving people, but not really having love for any specific person. So the article doesn't really know the lore either.

You'd think the writer would have bothered to point that out, unless they were trying to avoid spoilers (which doesn't matter much) or misremembered. I wasn't expecting clones, but it makes considering how fucked up the world is in Horizon due to the whole, robots killing about 99.9% all of humanity thing. Thanks for the info.

Only a minor quibble. The entire human race is wiped out by the machines, as well as the biosphere. The robots can't be foricbly shut down until after the earth is stripped clean of life(because the shutdown code has to be brute forced by trying every possible variation), which is why the big twist of HZD is that most of the robots in the game are there to restore the biosphere while big automated "vaults" underground clone humans to release back onto the surface once the earth is inhabitable again. Unfortunately, the same dipshit who made the killer robot swarms also decided to delete the part of the computer program to teach the new humans history(because he didn't want future humans knowing he's the one who fucked the world in the first place) and advanced skills, so all the humans cloned got basic life skills to the point of a 5 year old and then eventually released when the resources in the vaults ran out. Which basically explains why the humans in the world started from scratch. Basically the game takes place over 1000 years after the earth died and had to be rebooted(so to speak).

Not trying to be a dick. I just really liked that twist and it's one of the reason the game worked so well for me.

Because of course she is. Never mind she was kind of into Erond in the first game. Never mind she's shown herself as rather asexual in Forbidden West.

At this point it's just better to assume every character is gay until shown otherwise. No wonder I prefer Japanese media these days.

Well....at least Aloy has good taste in women.
Can you be any less homophobic because that is a big fucking yikes from me. Seriously, Alot being lesbian is fine by me because that is what Sony wants to do, I can already hear the moaning from reactionary wee...Oh fucking wait, too little too late, already see a crowd supporting it

Also citing a far right reactionary source for entertainment automatically flags you as dogwhistling for the alt right. Seriously, that is just plain insulting to cite Bounding Unto Crap.

Blessed be KonradLeijon

Remember when Microsoft fanboys used to call Sony’s platform the “Gaystation” back in the day? Well, who would’ve thought they’d eventually take it to heart!

But seriously if I was a game developer, the inevitable backlash over things like this are one reason why I’d prefer to just leave my characters’ sexual identities off the table, or ambiguous at best. Perhaps this is also a reason why character creators are implemented for the player, as they ultimately allow more focus on gameplay aspects than anything else, thus avoiding the drama of twisting anyone’s knickers.

The one Far Zenith lady that ends up helping Aloy is quite clear about how she had a relationship with Elisabeth Sobeck back in the day, although it had already ended by the time Zero Dawn was being finished. Part of the final fight in the game is about how she wants to rescue the new Sobeck ( Aloy ) because she wasn't able to save the original one when she left earth.

She could have made copies of Gaia and her other functions if she needed and could have blasted off into space without bothering anyone, but she was trying to force Aloy to come with her, hence their fight.

Care to elaborate on that last part?

Even that won't save exactly save a developer from the racist, sexist, and homophobic vitriol.

I barely remember, and it was still stupid back then. Ironic, as none of those Microsoft fanboys said same thing when Mass Effect allowed same sex romance. The worst they got was "SEX BOX" from Fox News back when the first came out.

Why even bother with a physical version then?

Id argue that a lot of Forbidden West recons the established lore from Zero Dawn for the sake of adding stakes to the sequel. Which also makes no sense really since Silens was enough threat with the manipulation of Hades. I feel like they pigeon holed the space people into the game and had to invent relationships and connections out of nowhere for no reason.

Anything to get him off of YouTube, or any other streaming platform. Guessing he cracked under the pressure of people generally knowing he was full of shit. Hope whoever he abused is ok.
