Okay, FO4 Next-gen release is finally happening. Since I own the original game and will get the update for free, I will check it out. Yet, I do not see too much difference in terms of graphics and visuals.

Skyrim SE had clear visual improvement over the original release. I guess we'll need to wait to see what exactly has improved, but from the imagies alone it doesn't seem to show much difference.

Also, tad bit worried about all the mods I have for the game; I'm almost certain most of them are gonna be broken just like how it was for Skyrim, SE, and then AE transition

So? I lot of people are getting fatigued too with Disney constantly milking it out or some greedy publisher making their product intentionally worse. Always online for single player? That rarely works out well and fuck this piece of shit practice. It helps no one, but the people at top.
They might (MIGHT!) be dismayed by their business practises, but they still love Star Wars.

For their sake of hope they don't love it too much to fall into the grift again. I have no one to blame but themselves at this point. I really don't care how much they love it. People love a lot of things.

Everyone always says big company are bad because greed. But the greedy thing to do would be to remake 2 almost right away so they can use the same engine and a lot of assets. Big game company problem isn't greed, its incompetence.
Ff the rumor are to be believed, the reason remake 2 didn't make it past concept, is that the first one didn't perform to expectations. Tho reports on this are inconsistent. Anyway, if true, that implies they think a second one wouldn't perform well enough either and thus not worth it. Which basically comes down to just greed.

But it should be possible to remake 2 for much cheaper by recycling assets from 1, so even if it underperform it should still be able to make a healthy profit.

Does make some sense. It's a sequel that retails at a higher price on a console with a smaller install base. Also doesn't get to benefit from the boost of releasing at the height of the pandemic

Known Atlus/Sega leaker with a decent record. Interesting, if true. Would prefer they get on with P6 tho.

Now, I'm not a fan of FF7 myself, but that displays a quite stupifying lack of awareness off what FF7 is and means to people.
Although that said, it might be that the comment is more a criticism of story and gameplay, and that the swimsuit edition is some sort of attempt to distract from that, but if so it's not well communicated.

Ehh, I don't know, I've talked myself onto the fence again.

Edit: and I've just realised I've commented on something people are saying on twitter. Disregard everything above, the real answer is both of them should be summarily executed for the good of humanity.

Yeahhhhhhh no, remaking P1 and P2 is a big waste of time, they have nothing of what make P3-5 interesting. Just look at other shin megami tensei RPG that barely sell.

Interesting if true that FF7R is selling poorly compare to previous one. Hard to say exactly why that is, maybe people played the first one for the "OMG they finally remade FF7" but a lot of people don't finish long game, especially people who were kid when 7 first came out and are now adult with responsibility, so they won't bother picking the sequel until they do. 7R also really didn't finish in a way that would make anybody want more if they never played the OG.

Yeah, tipping culture! That's what games need.

For a game by a small indie dev? Sure, why not. There's some that already do that actually, in the form of thank you/support dlcs

For AAA? Fuck no, terrible, terrible idea. Because either A) the suits will use this as an excuse to pay their people less, just like in the service industry, or B) the suits will stuff that money in their own pockets and the developer get nothing (assuming they aren't laid off already). Or, you know, both. Probably both.

Also, can't wait to play a game and finish a lever, dungeon, quest or whatever, and be greeted with this

A lot of small indie dev already will have DLC that specify that they are about supporting the dev (usually will have one or two cosmetic or something for like 25$). So it already exist.

At this point everybody should just stop buying Ubisoft games. I got started over a decade ago and I am all the more happier for it.

As for Larian, it confirmed it was hanging up its D&D hat during a GDC talk back in March. "Baldur's Gate will always have a warm spot in our heart," Larian's founder and CEO Swen Vincke told attendees. "We'll forever be proud of it, but we're not gonna continue in it. We're not gonna make new expansions, which everybody is expecting us to do. We're not gonna make Baldur's Gate 4, which everyone is expecting us to do. We're gonna move on - we're gonna move away from D&D and start making a new thing."
Uhuh, yeah, this really makes it sound like the working relationship between Wizards and Larian was amiable and mutually fulfilling.

Anyway, good luck, whoever gets burdened with the IP next

And T2 continues to be scum fuckers. 5% is probably a huge number of people considering how big that company is.
About 600 people if the total employee count I found online is correct

But half the cost of the game is marketing, not development. And that has to be paid in full.

Too many of these AAA companies go so far in the marketing that it's beyond ridiculous. Yeah I know it's Square, but some things you just have to cut back on.
