I agree! The loot box/gacha mechanics sickens me. But there are several things I have issues with her statement itself:

1. Why go for Valve when there are plenty of other game franchines/publishers that does the same?
Are you worried about the efficacy of the suit or are you just trying to be protective of Valve?

2. She says Valve is "letting children and adults illegally gamble". But isn't on the parents to control what games their children can access? And for adults, it's on them to have self-control on this crap
Sorry, I don't agree.

I believe it to be a duty of society to look out for its weaker members, offer help to parents and adults who are prone to falling for gambling mechanics. In an ideal world parents would be infallible and 100% on top of what their children play and adults would have the strength of character to reject the allure of gambling... but also there wouldn't be companies designing games to ensnare children and adults with gambling mechanics. Sadly we don't live in such an ideal world and I believe we as a society should make the effort to make up the difference.

I mean Valve is no saint, but NGL I would've been a lot more supportive had she gone after the likes of EA or Acti-Blizz.

Turst me, I get what you're saying, but what usually happens is policymakers using it as an excuse to enforce control; Look at what's happening at UK, or the recent policy changes to Discord.

As for society taking up the duty to protect weaker members, while in perfect world this sounds nice, in reality it turns into a cancel culture where people flock to a witch hunt someone w/o deeper fact-checking. (I'm looking at you, twitter and Tik Tok!).

A bit off-topic, but Hogwarts Legacy is a good example of how crappy the cancel culture is; While it is true J.K Rowling has made terrible comments about trans people, the game even featured trans NPC to, and it is no way an offensive game. But no, some nutjobs made it their mission to attempt to cancel the game and anyone who is playing it.

My point is, it doesnt matter how good the intentions are; It is gonna get blown out of proportion, and misused at some point.

I guess it can be argued that these gaming companies can be really deceptive when it comes to "in-game spending" and therefore allude parents on what their kids have access to. But with rated M games, I think parents have some responsibility to check what their kids are playing.

The worst ones I feel are the non-rated M games that feature lootbox mechanics like FIFA and Genshin Impact. Because parents will probably feel safer with these game without understanding how their kids get legendary-tier items or characters.

Yeah, these things never end with "And the policies make it harder for children to get exposed without affecting the adults". It ends with "And everyone following the law has to jump through extra hurdles, encouraging people to not do that."

Bloodborne remake hopefuls once again in schambles.

The imo most interesting part
In early 2025, when Bluepoint again pitched the idea of Bloodborne remake, the studio was told that the numbers made sense but FromSoftware didn’t want it to happen, according to people familiar with the process.

Former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida shared a theory last year that this might be the case, saying in an interview with Kinda Funny Games that he thought FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki was interested in remaking the classic game but too busy to do it himself and “doesn’t want anyone else to touch it.” He added that he thought PlayStation would respect Miyazaki’s wishes despite owning the franchise.

I mean, you're literally asking him to be olympic god level of buff. XD
Is that too much to ask?

My issue is that his body language doesnt read as Kratos for me. He looks uncertain and nervous which Kratos would never be.

It is a minor issue on a single screenshot but it doesnt give me faith that they are writing the characters correctly and they'll be different from their video game counterparts.

Principal photography began today. It's entirely possible the image is a costume test. You can even sort of make out the bald cap on Hurst.

Or maybe they just Ugly Sonic him in post I dunno.

That smells kinda bs-y if it’s just his “theory”, considering they remade Demon’s Souls and got high praise from Miyazaki.

“One thing that was really fun was seeing [Bluepoint Games] come up with things we didn’t consider and to approach certain elements of the game its visuals and its mechanics in a way that we either couldn’t or didn’t back in the day. So to see them researching and applying these new thought processes and new techniques, this was something that was really exciting and interesting for me.”

He also expressed interest in a PC port but has said multiple times it wasn’t up to him.

"Unfortunately, and I've said this in other interviews, it's not in my place to talk about Bloodborne specifically," he said. "We simply don't own the IP at FromSoftware. For me personally, it was a great project, and I have a lot of great memories for that game, but we're not at liberty to speak to it."

I don't think that's true, Kratos was uncertain and nervous all the time in GoW 2018, but I will agree that his pose here looks silly. What direction did he get? "Just kinda lean forward and put your hands on your knees like you're trying to find something in a bookshelf"

Absolutely bizarre that this was the first look they gave us. In contrast, this is how they revealed Last of Us.

The direction probably was "Atreus is aiming for a deer, look like you're invested in whether he hits his target or not" and to be honest, hunching forward a bit to focus his gaze on a distant target isn't that out there of a pose in such a situation.

Mountains and molehills.

Funny you say that because I think the pose makes him look quite uninterested in hunting deer with Atreus. The scene that I assume inspired this shot from GoW 2018 has Kratos kneeling beside and instructing Atreus. Kneeling, because he doesn't want to spook the deer and needs to whisper to Atreus. This scene makes me think of an impatient dad hoping his son would just swing his bat already. Maybe the actor isn't physically capable of kneeling in the costume.

And I agree that people are overreacting, but honestly, can you blame them? I initially wrote this off as AI slop or cosplay, only for a friend to point out it was shared by the official Amazon Prime account. Not the reaction you would want for a first look at your million dollar adaptation of a beloved franchise.

The pose reminds me of the scene in Walking Dead where Rick is crying to Carl and pronouncing the name coorel!

Pokémon gen 10 just revealed. It actually looks pretty good, to the point I’m thinking of picking up a switch 2. The fact that it’s a sw2 exclusive prolly helped a ton in making it look so much better than anything Pokemon I’ve seen come out after the 3DS games. Switch 1 isn’t holding it back any more.

I like the pomoranian starter. Also IGN will lose it with the quantity of water on display. And the chars actually look nice too. Not weirdly generic and interchangeable like the gen 9 kids.

Apparently the setting is based on Indonesia/south-east Asia.
