I was hoping this was going to come down to an actual battle myself, and I was cheering for Geohotz to be honest. Like a lot of people, I think there were important issues that were at stake here.
I think the spirit of the monetary donations is pretty obvious, and if he donates the money to charity I think that will be fine in this case. He might not have lived up to the high expectations set for him, but that's always the risk in backing a case like this, I don't think he really did anything paticularly dishonest here, though some might disagree with me.
As far as Anonymous goes, I'm not sure if we can say he "trolled" them. Time will tell what their reaction to this whole thing is. If they have an issue, I'm sure they will make it known. In the end though, I suspect Anonymous got behind the issue, and might still be there, as opposed to acting as a "personal army" which by their own credo they are not. The failure of George Hotz, is not a failure of Anonymous. Like a lot of the people who donated to George expecting him to push the issue harder, they might not like the resolution, but they probably aren't going to pursue revenge, having been there for their own reasons to begin with.
