He was and always will be "The Great Thinker" to me. His comedy was just pure gold wrapped in awesome, in fact I know feel the urge to listen to him again.
Well, once again, you seem to prove that you are either a twin or a clone of me.
I feel the same way about the man. His rants, though often misinformed or just plain ignorant, are still fucking hilarious.
And I love the prison state idea.
Ah, Bob, we agree again. Truly this is a fortuitous acquaintanceship!
Seriously! You have the same taste in comedy as well?
DAMN this is a good day.

Being insanely funny requires being a bit of a dick.

A really funny guy. Over the top, sure, but got me laughing.
Naah not at all.

Is this a joke? Did you honestly just compare George Carlin to... that guy? I suppose if you're talking about pens, maybe you can be cool about it. Excuse George for talking about shit that actually matters.

Carlin was one of the first comedians I've seen do stand-up.....not live, but I watched the most recent he did, and watch others when they were on in his memory. I think his curse words thing was the funniest thing I've ever heard.

Would you like to know why there aren't a lot of huge British comics, THEY AREN'T THAT FUNNY! Most of them aren't funny in the slightest, like that clip you posted. It's not funny, that's why he's on BBC and not Comedy Central.

i loved his comedy stylings especially his political stuff. but my overall favorite routine of his would be the one to get him his big fame break. "7 words you can't say on television" and i remember those words still to this day.

Shit

Carlin had some funny bits that he did, but most of his act was a string of rants that were only lightly amusing.

If I were to actually make a list, he might make the top 50, but that's pushing it.

He was a man of my own heart.

I find it ironic that he mentions the sun. I have a theory that the sun IS God, since all major religions can trace their routes to the most basic of religions, the worship of the sun. And it kind of makes sense in both spiritual and scientific sense, since the sun is undisputably the most powerful entity in our solar system.

Anyway, I find some of his stuff funny, although I do not take his views seriously. Also, some of his comedy is too crude for my liking, beacuse I do not think profanity is a necessary component of comedy. But I respect that that was simply his style and that he would not have been as good of a comedian without it.

He was completely awesome, and I still remember the day when I tricked my social studies teacher into playing the "Seven words" bit.

Because Comedy Central is the bright and shining beacon of funny? ...No.

Anyway, still a shame to see him gone, I would have loved to see his material about the economy going in to shit.

You mean his jokes? I never got the impression that he was being serious when he said things like "ever notice how all the women who oppose abortion, you wouldn't want to fuck in the first place?" (Or whatever the line was)

Sorry to burst your bubble mate but the sun is just a star surrounded by stars, a relatively small star compared to others, see for yourself.

You left out Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry.

It could be that British humour is a little too sophisticated for his tastes. There is a preference for substance here, merely saying "fuck" over and over doesn't cut it. I get the feeling it is like this across the world though, hence the reason there is generally a flow of comedians from the UK to the USA, without the reverse happening.

Michael McIntyre, the guy in the vid, has had the fastest selling debut DVD [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_McIntyre] for a stand up comedian ever. I think that trumps Carlin to be honest.
